"although he wasn't wearing a helmet, it probably wouldn't have made a difference

Probably so, but it would have made it a lot easier to clean up the mess.
2003-08-12 06:13:43 PM
Great headline
2003-08-12 10:42:15 PM
awful headline. a 12 year old died here.
2003-08-12 10:42:16 PM
Paging Dr. Darwin
2003-08-12 10:43:10 PM
Most confusing headline ever?
2003-08-12 10:43:29 PM
Haha! Dead Kid!
2003-08-12 10:44:20 PM
«The boy was one of nine children.
His mother home schools the kids, but today a babysitter was watching them....
Deputies say a babysitter was watching all six children that live there. They were all at home because they're all home schooled. »

Something doesn't add up ?
2003-08-12 10:44:44 PM
I find it hard to sympathize with someone who ran into (under?) a parked truck in his backyard,
2003-08-12 10:44:44 PM
Sounds like those homeschooling parents were doing a great job with their kids.
2003-08-12 10:46:42 PM
Shropshire Slasher!
Uhh...Shropshire Slasher!

/Obscure reference
2003-08-12 10:48:10 PM
Why wasn't I surprised he was homeschooled? Guaranteed ultra-religeous family with all those kids. If only Scott Stapp had met this fate years ago.
2003-08-12 10:49:32 PM
what kind of headline is that? making fun of the fact a kid died in a tragedy? come on. that is lame as hell.
2003-08-12 10:51:28 PM
They were all at home because they're all home schooled

Uhh, isn't it early August still?

I think this kid is too young for a Darwin Award. Pretty sad.
2003-08-12 10:51:29 PM
Does a typical 12-year-old get great ratings in rear-end bumper test versus a Catholic priest?
2003-08-12 10:52:24 PM
"Some kind of trauma." Damn, I feel bad for the family. Poor kid. That's what he gets for trying to go outside and be normal instead of playing Nintendo all day. That sucks.

he sHo0d haV3 sTaY3D iNSid3 anD haXORed a mIcRoWav3!!!
2003-08-12 10:52:31 PM
Yeah, especially considering that the truck might've gotten damaged by the kid's head. There's no sense in making fun of someone's financial loss at the hands of stupidity.
2003-08-12 10:52:39 PM
SAD tag, not florida. Why is it always 9 kids? Do homeschool parents always want a baseball team?
2003-08-12 10:52:48 PM
"The boy was one of nine children.
His mother home schools the kids, but today a babysitter was watching them....
Deputies say a babysitter was watching all six children that live there. They were all at home because they're all home schooled."

3 of the kids are probably 18+ years old and have moved out.
2003-08-12 10:53:48 PM
Some cultures consider you an adult at 13, so he was almost there, plus he hit a PARKED truck, its not like he didnt see it coming
2003-08-12 10:54:34 PM
"3 of the kids are probably 18+ years old and have moved out."

Maybe those kids had go-carts too.
2003-08-12 10:55:37 PM
One down, eight to go.
2003-08-12 10:55:40 PM
Too bad about the kid. The real crime is the quality of the writing in that article... someone got paid to write that
2003-08-12 10:55:46 PM
Maybe it is a hand me down kart
(one ticket to hell please)
2003-08-12 10:55:50 PM
very tasteless headline
2003-08-12 10:56:03 PM
Headline writer receives one ticket to hell. Would you like a window seat?
2003-08-12 10:57:34 PM
Great parents of 9 kids!

You show 'em how to "home school" while you're not at home.
2003-08-12 10:58:21 PM
Brevard County agents say this was not issue of supervision.
Yoooooooooooo Betcha..
2003-08-12 10:58:39 PM
Another example of crash imcompatabilities between pickups/SUVs and other vehicles...
2003-08-12 10:58:59 PM
Oh man, kids dying is so funny :P
2003-08-12 11:00:12 PM
The funny thing is, nobody would be complaining in this thread if the kid was 6 years older.
2003-08-12 11:03:25 PM
I guess that's why my Mother never let me have a go-kart... AT TWELVE!!!
2003-08-12 11:03:27 PM
Wow. He was just a kid. Do ya think that him hitting the gas instead of the brakes or maybe going too fast justifies writing a comic headline about his death? Damn I thought my parents were critical...
2003-08-12 11:03:38 PM
Kids will be kids, they have accidents and don't pay attention like they should.

The headline is a little unfeeling alright.
2003-08-12 11:04:48 PM
The boy was one of nine children...sounds like mom better get her "ass to humpin'" and crank out a few more.
/quantity versus quality"
2003-08-12 11:05:44 PM
...or it could be some strange Farmer's Market/Bermuda Triangle coincedence.
2003-08-12 11:06:12 PM
Who or what is a reared-end?
2003-08-12 11:07:34 PM
Were his friends having a little farmers market in the front yard?
2003-08-12 11:08:49 PM
Canaveral Groves...why doesn't that surprise me. Must be hell trying to home school 9 kids in a trailer.
2003-08-12 11:09:29 PM
Totally tasteless headline, a FARKING BOY DIED.

2003-08-12 11:10:22 PM
Heh. I inherited one much like that when I was a kid. No rollbar, no brakes, no bottom plate. Lots of ants, mud, air, dented trees and angry property owners. Eventually we perfected the emergency bail routine of sticking your outside arm under the backtire. Good times.
2003-08-12 11:12:04 PM
2003-08-12 11:12:54 PM
The next thing you know, an ambulance chasing lawyer will convince the family to sue itself.
2003-08-12 11:13:12 PM
Not to mention, this can happen to anyone... I'm sure there are lots of instances where a car rear ends a semi and the poor guy gets decapitated
2003-08-12 11:14:11 PM
Such wonderful hypocrisy here.. If it was the kids father who died, you'd all be laughing it up. But because it was a child, it's suddenly "tasteless" "not funny" "wrong" etc...

So just what is the legal age for us to laugh at stupidity? Can we laugh if he's 12? 16? Or do we have to wait till they're 18 before we can laugh at them?

This is Fark. If it can be laughed at, it will be laughed at. End of story. If you can't handle that, I hear is fun.
2003-08-12 11:15:10 PM
I was expecting a funny article and maybe the kid to have a few bruises. Thanks for setting me up and making me feel bad when all I wanted was a couple of hyuks.
2003-08-12 11:15:11 PM
2003-08-12 10:48:10 PM laid back w/bud light:

Why wasn't I surprised he was homeschooled?

You were neither surprised nor did you forsee it, you're just blindly taking a stab at home schooling in attempt to appear intelligent.

How dare a child not be spoonfed their dose of liberal indoctrination...

2003-08-12 11:19:00 PM

That was easily the most poorly written news article I've ever read. I've seen better writing in the Diamondback.

Oh, oh I went there.

2003-08-12 11:19:59 PM
Car driving over embankment rolling downhill into oncoming train and all survive is funny. Kid wiping out on Go Cart and dying is not. Dead children are not amusing.
2003-08-12 11:20:07 PM
Too bad about the kid. The real crime is the quality of the writing in that article... someone got paid to write that

Exactly what I was thinking. That was horrible....both the kid's death and the miserable writing.
2003-08-12 11:21:10 PM
Headline: Terrible
Quality of Written Article: Terrible

andes is right, someone actually got paid to do it while middle schoolers learning how to write articles in english class could have probably done better.
