The author obviously needs more crack.
2003-08-12 08:48:45 AM

I've seen some excellent trolls here on Fark, but this guy takes the farking cake.

My hat's off to you sir.
2003-08-12 08:49:05 AM
This ought to be good....
2003-08-12 08:53:48 AM
This'll pull all the wackos out. Can't wait to read this thread. I refuse to actually take part in a left v. right circle jerk.
2003-08-12 08:54:35 AM

Like all the other political threads don't eventually turn to left v. right circle jerks.......
2003-08-12 09:02:01 AM
Historically, liberals were against slavery, against the Vietnam War, against U.S. slaughter of Native Americans.

I don't see those positions as being narcissist.

P.S., Democrats are not liberals. They are the loyal opposition.
2003-08-12 09:06:50 AM
Made perfect sense to me!
If liberals had their way
1. the cold war would still be going on.
2. The vietnam war would have been won and a couple of million cambodians would not have been slaughtered in the killing fields when we pulled out.
2003-08-12 09:08:48 AM
At least liberals are smart enough to understand that slaughtering a few hundred thousand more Vietnamese would not have allowed the U.S. to install another dictator there.

Like all the other political threads don't eventually turn to left v. right circle jerks.......

That's why i haven't been flamewarring much. I'm now a lurker, because of idiots. I argued with GEAH for a minute, but that's simply b/c he called me a troll ( for asking him a question. I just ignore stuff like this.
2003-08-12 09:26:10 AM

I just read the article. Here's the crux of his argument.

Hence the liberal attempt to either erase the Judeo-Christian code or at least remove its influence from public life. Nothing could provide a better example of contemporary liberalism than the liberal battle to remove the Ten Commandments from all public places. Liberals want suggestions, not commandments.

Bah, i'm going to have to close my window for this one. Too easy to fall into this pit of despair that's coming up.
2003-08-12 09:28:12 AM
Naivete and narcissim, huh?

That's a lot of alliteration for anxious anchors placed in powerful posts.

2003-08-12 09:33:34 AM
Naivete and narcissim? I thought that was the average person on the street, aka, sheeple. After all, most people have no clue and think that politions and corporations are doing what is best for them...
/define "them"
2003-08-12 09:33:36 AM
Liberalism tends to have a more compassionate view of humanity - if that's naive, so be it.
2003-08-12 09:33:48 AM
1) Submit an article with "naivete" and ["liberals"|"conservatives"] in the headline
2) ???
3) Profit!!
2003-08-12 09:33:49 AM
It's too early for a proper flamewar. Not enough caffeine in me to think properly.
2003-08-12 09:33:54 AM
greed and hypocricy...

2003-08-12 09:34:10 AM
When did Fark become a neo-conservative cesspool?

Only I know what is TRULY going on. Let me give you my opinion.

2003-08-12 09:37:10 AM

Agreed, that last passage pretty much sums it all up.

JEEBUS, baby.

It's all about JEEBUS!
2003-08-12 09:37:22 AM
He showed his true colors in the last paragraph. He values Biblical morality over humanistic morality. It's a perfectly legitimate view, but he's just pissed he can't make other people believe in it as well.
2003-08-12 09:37:33 AM
I wish Fark would filter "liberal" already. In this day and age it's impossible to pigeonhole people politically and the word is often simply used to mean "someone who disagrees with me".
2003-08-12 09:37:47 AM
An interesting read, although obviously skewed the right in the extreme....I think one problem here is that the author assumes that thinking people are inherently "good" is automatically "naive." Maybe it is, but I hope not... makes a pretty depressing world if that's true.
2003-08-12 09:38:22 AM
perfect headline. those are the real n words. and they both point to a gullible tree chained too much time on their wrinkle-less hands youth.

Boys and girls biatching about GWB and the economy. The president can do jack about the economy other than create some stupid corp so kids can go out and stop forest fires that don't need stopping or other meaningless wastes of my tax dollars.

Did you ever stop to consider higher education is being offered with loans that carry about -0- in interest costs. If your unemployed and the natural business cycle is still bottoming out may we suggest more education to improve your marketability and bide time while this things runs it's course.

As a liberal, I'd have to say he's pretty on target. Oversimplified, but hey, that's conservatives for you: always looking for simple dualities of good versus bad, right versus wrong....conservatives are more intellectually child-like than liberals, I'd counter. But liberals are more emotionally child-like.
2003-08-12 09:39:22 AM
Haha, I got a f*king troll label recently and though it wasn't from GEAH, I still beat you weemil! An unadjectived troll, isn't that damned by faint damning?

Town Hall still carries Ann Coulter. Draw your own conclusions.

I've a busy day ahead but I look forward to revisiting this thread later.
2003-08-12 09:39:31 AM
As a centrist that leans a little in either direction, I declare this guy an asshat. Mind you, he says things that seem to ring true, as long as you are already on the right, but otherwise it's as childlike as the folks he wants to rail against.
2003-08-12 09:39:57 AM
Good point, SockMonkeyHolocaust, and one I try to explain to my conspiracy theorist/anarchist friends. They say the government lies, the media lies, etc, but they know what's *really* going on because they listen to other conspiracy theorist/anarchists. Pretty funny.
2003-08-12 09:40:16 AM
This is why I vote for third party candidates...

2003-08-12 09:40:47 AM
yeah Fark is becoming a real conservative cesspool!

they better watch out for real bullets. (taken from the Ahnold spat)

and because he's in the underdog party he gets a pass.

conservative says this about Ted Kennedy and the spanish inquisitor is warming up his rack.
2003-08-12 09:41:20 AM
Old and busted: Claiming to go get popcorn and sit back to enjoy a good flamewar.

New hotness: Actually going to get popcorn, sitting back, enjoying a good flamewar, and adding a little fuel to the fire every now and then.
2003-08-12 09:41:42 AM
That was poorly written and a big fat farking waste of my time. This cat needs to go back to school and take some writing classes.
2003-08-12 09:41:52 AM
"This question has plagued me because I have long believed that most people, liberal or conservative, mean well. Very few people wake up in the morning planning to harm society. Yet, many liberal positions -- I emphasize liberal positions rather than liberals because most people who call themselves liberal do not hold most contemporary liberal positions -- have been wreaking havoc on America and the world."

Furthermore, if liberals with liberal positions liberate the overuse of the word liberal in liberating sentences, then the liberals won't be liberal and liberally defined by their liberal mandate that is liberal. Liberal.
2003-08-12 09:42:12 AM
All that for the author to once again reassert that America is a Christian nation, not a land of diversity.

Does anyone else think it is ironic to have the Ten Commandments hang in a court room where people can be sentenced to death? Last time I looked, the commandment was Thou Shall Not Kill. Maybe in the neo-con revised Bible it reads "Thou shall not kill, except..."
2003-08-12 09:42:12 AM
Liberals are destroying the country.

2003-08-12 09:38:22 AM Haywood_Jabloeme

Worried the left will blame Bush the way the right blamed Carter?

Don't worry. Bush's tax cuts were perfect medicine. Small biz didn't need some breaks on medicare/unemployment/social security taxes to hire more folks. All they needed was for the super-rich to get more super.

Yeah, we'll just keep on waiting for things to get better. Thanks for the advice.
2003-08-12 09:43:10 AM
Fark better post a followup in the form of a Liberal rebuttal like they did with the Berkeley study on Conservatives.
2003-08-12 09:43:35 AM
Maybe in the neo-con revised Bible it reads "Thou shall not kill, except..."

They don't even need a revision; there's the simple inconsistency of "eye for an eye" that exists in everyone's bible.
2003-08-12 09:43:47 AM

Has anyone been watching Bill O'Reilly lately? I view it to elevate my blood pressure... anyway, he's been all about how the evil "secularists" are trying to ruin this country. Did I miss something? Isn't there supposed to be separation of church and state??!!?? Why do we have to drag Jeebus, kicking and screaming, into the political arena? And another thing, how does Fox News get all self-righteous about the liberal "sinners" and then broadcast shiat like "Paradise Hotel" on their network station. Hypocrisy!
