thefnz1: So, after spending years saying that various looking "Osama Bin Ladens" are the "real bin laden" at CIA headquarters they kill an arab guy with a beard by shooting him in the head, probably with something big enough to destroy any hope of validating with dental records?

Even if it was, has it been worth over 400 trillion and ~2500 coalition dead, mixed in with a pile of dead and wounded locals? And a much increased hatred of the West?

I smell ratfarking and an exit strategy in action any way you dice this one.

Either they blasted the head of somebody plausible or they have known for a long while that he was still alive some known place and it was time to "wind down the war" and pretend something was won.

Not for Obama. Those college kids will vote for him no matter what.

That...doesn't even make sense.

Being "ethnic" is an automatic "yes" vote for most of these dilletante college kids.

As we do, we must also reaffirm that the United States is not -- and never will be -- at war with Islam. I've made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader; he was a mass murderer of Muslims. Indeed, al Qaeda has slaughtered scores of Muslims in many countries, including our own. So his demise should be welcomed by all who believe in peace and human dignity.

Penman: I don't hate American troops. I hope it's true. I hope OBL is dead. We just haven't seen any evidence yet of that.

You didn't see any evidence. But your opinion is not that important. If Bin Laden is still alive and well, he can put out a video, hold up today's copy of the Washington Post, and the gig will be up. Pretty sure he is dead though.

YoMammaObama: It is too bad that President Obama did not even mention George W Bush. He could have proved to us all that he is the one who would unite us as he promised. But as anyone can see in these 6,000+ comments, Obama continues to push for the division in our country that swept him into power.

"You never want a serious crisis to go to waste. And what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before ..."

The mantra of a country's divider.

Yeah remember all those times he told other countries "Your either with us or against us" or how he rallies the democratic base with "2nd-ammendment remedies" ... The guy is a dividing SOB!!! We need more guys like W. "The Great Negotiator" back on top of this country and will never have these problems!

JUSTICE is what you find in a court of law. Revenge is what we have here. Not justice. I'd have liked to see the US take the high road.

Apparently to people these days Violence = Revenge = Justice.

Just kind of disturbing to me that a nation that loves to brag about being Christian can celebrate death so prominently. I read one article and they quoted a woman whose pregnant daughter died in the 9/11 attack and it was basically, 'I don't care who died, I will never celebrate a death.'

On the other hand the guy was a symbol of something bad. To people his death represents a step towards the elimination of terrorism, extreme poverty, propaganda/brainwashing, and ending wars and conflicts. Those are reasons to celebrate.

Wow. Just wow.

/Not Christian
//Celebrating his death
///Knows terrorism, poverty etc. etc will continue
////Just happy as hell the SOB will no longer be walking on this planet

When the SEALS showed up to say "howdy!"

The money wasn't spent, it was invested. Paying for our troops and the people who manufacture the equipment for these operations, that money is then spent on other things because of the money multiplier. At least this is how wasteful stimulus spending is justified, right?

It might sound easy enough, but I get the feeling this is the beginning of something big.

I was relieved to find out the news late last night on Fark. Some closure was definitely needed to the 9/11 victims families. Maybe even to families in the Middle East.

Hopefully this gets in as post 7000:

REPOSTING WHAT I POSTED LAST NIGHT:

This took years to bring to fruition, by people of all political persuasions, with the bulk of the work being completed by underpaid, under-recognized members of both our armed forces, and the intelligence community.

Tens of millions of man hours' worth of hard work culminated in several hours of heroic action by a select few people, who will most likely be relegated to anonymity after a private congratulation ceremony at the White House.

How do I know this? My father worked for the US Government, and received numerous awards for intelligence work, most of which, to this day, is still classified. I remember on several occasions, visiting the NSA headquarters as a young child, to be in award pictures for good deeds that will never be made known to the general public.

As much as it would be gratifying to see Bin Laden's head impaled on the White House fence, that's not the nation we are, or should ever aspire to become.

Enjoy the day, the victory for this particular battle is ours, but don't forget, there's a long line of people out there who will proclaim that OBL's martyrdom is cause for more action.

It'll be back to work tomorrow for all the heroes who made this happen, and they will be glad to be on the job.

A very heart-felt thank you to all involved!

2. He didn't mention Bush enough and that is the only way to unite the country!

We all know that a large portion of the country is very concerned about W's feelings. After all, isn't that what the War on Terrorism™ is all about?

I was only kidding around. Just thinking back to an Ali G episode where Borat goes to a shooting range and some hick puts up a picture of Bin Laden, does a "take dis ya sunuvabich", and fires away. I've fired a few guns (Uzi, M16, and M60), and thought it was fun. People that actually get off on it scare me though.
