What if you're traveling?

I live next to a gym, and saw a guy in an SUV cut off a school bus full of children to pull into the gym parking lot yesterday. Guess he had to be there in 23 minutes.

I have to BE at the gym in 26 minutes. I don't see how that allows me to take a 26-minute power nap unless the gym is in my bedroom.

What if your wife accesses your FARK account while you're taking your nap?

It is also the ideal amount of time for one of those epic Sunday morning bowel movements, newspaper and all.

/was wondering the same thing when I read the headline.

Great headline. But it's definitely true. Any nap longer than half an hour and I feel all groggy and worse than if I didn't take a nap at all.

You can sleep on the bus or train.

Yeah, seriously. Morning dump equipment: laptop, check, coffee, check, baby wipes, workin' on it

Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom: Is the 26 minute thing from the story about the dude who killed the guy with a hammer at the gym?

No it's about the biggest douche in the universe, John Fitzgerald (yes he beat out John Edward for the title).

Personally I can't take naps. As soon as I'm down, I'm out for the count. And I always feel like it's a waste of time (mainly because I end up sleeping the whole day away).

2011-04-29 11:15:16 AM
Hm, I had mine tuned to 25 minutes including 7-8 minutes to fall asleep. Woooo, 8 more minutes of sleep. It's always a crapshoot though, sometimes I feel great, other times worse.

2011-04-29 11:16:11 AM
I'm not capable of taking a nap. I'm not 50+ years old.

A long time buddy of mine keeps a pillow and blanket in his car and goes out there at lunch and grabs a power nap every day. Not sure if he keeps to a 26 minute one or not, but assuming he actually does eat something plus the time it takes to get to his car and back in the office again, I imagine it can't be much longer than a 1/2 hour.

It takes me a good hour to fall asleep in the first place, so these short naps are something foreign to me. I'm lucky to get a nap once or twice a month, on a Sunday afternoon. But it's a good 2-3 hour snooze-fest.

2011-04-29 11:19:10 AM
I try to avoid napping, because every time I sack out in front of the tube, I'm down for at least 3 hours, and waking back up again to an alert state is like surfacing from a deep lake.

This 'getting older' crap is strictly for the birds.

This guy doesn't have time to answer you (clickety-pops)

However, figuring out why farkers refer to the Marine "Core" (clickety-pops) took a little more work. Farkers need to learn the difference between a meme and an in-joke

Screw that! Naps are for old people. So is sleep. I'll sleep when I'm dead or have grandchildren, whichever comes first.

/And if I don't eventually decide to get some sleep, I think I know which one it will be.

2011-04-29 11:28:19 AM
I take more naps than a 23 year old should. It's usually a quick, hour long snooze that I wake up from 4-6 hours later...

Coincidently, the ideal length of a power fap is 26 seconds.

Not knowing the difference between a meme and an inside joke is the joke, unless you accidentally it.

//Unless, of course, you accidentally the whole thing

I can't do this. Every time I take a nap where I have to be awake in under a few hours I won't fall asleep, I'll just lay there like a cat with one eye open checking my clock every other minute. I do fall asleep at my desk though, especially after a long night of keg stands and jump kicks. I awake to the sound of my pen falling from my grip.

jamesgsu Great headline. But it's definitely true. Any nap longer than half an hour and I feel all groggy and worse than if I didn't take a nap at all.

Just the opposite here. If I nap for anything less than 45 minutes, I get a raging headache and assorted grumpiness.

I just can't 'power nap'. My naps are about 6-8 hours long. I'm a complete grump if I try to only sleep like 1/2 an hour.

I'd have to agree. It's just the right amount of time to fit in an hour lunch, counting time to actually eat something before or after the nap.

/every minute counts when hockey playoffs are keeping me awake until midnight
//mmmmmm sleep zzzzzzzzzz

I just published my first CD, "The Hypnotic Power Nap".
I wonder how i might be able to market it to the FAA.

Is it bad that I immediate thought: "Fark yeah, farkchan!" I'm too old for 4chan, but still pretty childish.

Thank you Fark!!

Interesting because that's about how long I sleep when I take a nap. Actually, I usually set an alarm for 30 minutes or so but it takes 5 minutes for me to get to sleep.

For naps try "Drop the keys". Hold your cars keys in your hand and doze off in your office chair, when they fall down you will wake up.

Or in my case, my head slams on the desk - I quickly wake up and start flailing around flinging my keys (quite inaccurately) at a perceived threat, now go try to find the keys that you threw at the large bug that didn't exist as your 2 remaining employees stare and smirk.

My age-riddled brain might be recalling this wrong... but wasn't there some event that brought an influx of 4chan dipsticks over here within the last couple years? I think the overall maturity of Fark was greatly diminished in the period.

Imma go be cranky in some other thread now...
