Well, that's the Navy I know and love. Hell, even if you're a Nuke you get a nickname, and 99% of them can't even be printed...

I bet Stroke's last name is "donkeyweenerswithyourtoes"

I used to be able to play the panflute. Some of the guys in the house I pledged in college found that out. When we were given our pledge names, mine of course was "Zamqueer, Master of the Skinflute." One of the brothers called home during spring break and asked my mom if he could speak to Zamqueer, Master of the Skinflute. She started to worry about what kind of house I was pledging.

Other slightly useful call signs you probably won't see:

DILLIGAF = Does It Look Like I Give A Fark

I'd hate to be TGFBHSHOTBP... The Guy From Butte High School, Home of the Butte Pirates.

I'd also hate to be someone in his squad, imagine being in combat...

The names have to be short, I guess you can't call a pilot, "red cross building demolishers " or "junkyard blower-uppers".

Top Gun...the later years:

Iceman: [ enters cockpit, wearing cap with "Iceman" stitched in ] Yeah. There is a problem. You.. because you're dangerous. [ pulls off his shades to reveal another pair beneath ] You're dangerous and foolish - and that makes you dangerous! Now, let's cut the.. crap. [ removes second pair of shades ] We've got a plane to fly.

My name would be a cool He-Man name, like Fly-or, or Pilot-O.

I flew with Striker during the war. I'll never forget the night we bombed Macho Grande. Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it.

Hmm.. I've played crud with Crew Pig, Nads, Liar, Spoons, Doogie, and Spanky (to name a few). The Navy puke callsigns suck. SOOO unoriginal. Thats like calling a non-pilot Remf (Rear-Echelon MotherFarker) or a navigator Gib (Guy-In-Back). Bah, pilots are just chauffeurs (sp?) anyway.

BTW, my callsign has been 'Dawg' for many years. (from being a sly-dawg when I hooked up at a college party with a BBW. (hey, any nookie is good nookie when you're invited to stay the night and are drunk as hell))

I gotta go with Spuds guess on "Stroke", I can almost guarantee that his last name is "Johnson".

Before I got to the squadron, there was a Stodadrt and a Stoddard, the latter became known as "Stump" because he was younger and shorter. We also had a officer with an early receding hairline, he became "Noggin", my TACCO's last name was "Roby", his nickname was "Jon Bon".

Let's see...Others were Apostolakos (Apocolypse) was one of our inflight ordinancemen. One of my pilots was a player, he became "Romeo", another operator had 6 or 7 helo crashes under his belt, had been around forever and was named "Crusty"...

I could probably think of a few others, but they all have the same things in common, they're generally not very complimentary, and you don't have any input at all into your own...

3Horn (AKA Jammer)

2001-10-22 08:08:22 PM
3Horn: argh, hit a pet peeve.
Note to all who want to give out call signs to guys who like to go chase pussy:

Romeo was dedicated to one girl and one girl only. His parents hate her parents? Who cares, he knows what he wants! He was NOT a player. The guy you should be calling Romeo is the guy who writes five letters to his girlfriend a day, pines away when he's out of paper, and while the rest of you are hitting the brothels on shore leave, he's calling long distance.

Don Juan was the player, the bedpost-notcher, the seduce-em, hump-em, and forget em dude.

OK! Thank you!

2001-10-22 08:11:42 PM
...I wonder how many guys got the nickname Buff or Burt, and thought it was a compliment before they were informed, by snickering colleague, that those are acronyms for Big Ugly Fat F*ck and Big Ugly Round Thing, respectively...

Careful folks!

This thread is approaching "silly" and "silly" gets "nuked" on the New Fark.

Careful!

True Ishidan, but in general, nicknames are one word with only a couple of syllables...That way, the pilots can remember them.

3Horn

2001-10-22 09:05:57 PM
3horn:
ehh...
Ro-Me-O: Three syllables.

Don-Juan: Two syllables.

Don: Just one. Then you could even switch the poor sop's call sign between Don Juan, master chaser of pussy, and Don Quixote, delusional pursuer of foolish quests.

"Zam-queer-Mas-ter-of-the-Skin-Flute": Eight syllables.

Boy, good thing you've got the loadmasters to do the counting for you flyboys, huh...(G, D, and R)
Jammer: hm you either fly an ECW craft or you're sloppy with your toast in the mess hall ;-)
Tell me, how'd you get that name?

2001-10-22 09:19:30 PM
oops hehe Diogenes's name was from a frat. NM on that one, but nonetheless.

"Kroeger, your Delta name is...Pinto."
"Why Pinto?"
*BELCH* "WHY NOT!"
