Sounds like the boss just gave him a raise. What's the problem?

How do the employees owe the boss money? Seems kinda backward.
You would think there was some way for a boss to get money back from an employee...

Should have charged him with grand theft, and being a stupid hayseed.

I had a boss years ago that used a forklift to raise my car and then changed my tire for me.

Considering how out of touch with reality one has to be to consider this an even remotely appropriate thing to do, I'm gonna guess that these people do not actually owe this man money.

A severe asskicking, on the other hand, may be called for. Perhaps not a literal one, a litigious asskicking might work just as well.

Using a company gas card for a personal vehicle springs to mind.

I bet it could be a lot of other things too, mostly revolving around petty cash.

That, sounds pretty similar to when I used to work with my father (and uncles...and brother...and a couple cousins). Never got to a black eye, but damn it's fun watching siblings fight over who is the biggest boss.

Quinzy: How do the employees owe the boss money?

At a place I used to work at, a large chunk of the blue collar employees had borrowed money. The boss didn't charge interest & couldn't directly deduct it from their pay. The interesting part was that bad employees were more likely to keep their job if they owed the boss money.

While I do agree with his methods, I would have just fired them both after the polices forced me to take the vehicles down.

A dealership locked my toolbox in a room when I quit, would not let me take it until I allowed them to search MY box. I called the cops, the stupid cop told me there was nothing he could do. So I got the cop to stand there while they looked through all my stuff.

Sound's like a good way to have a forklift burn up in a fire from a previously un-noticed electrical short.

That would suck if your house then burned down from a "previously unnoticed" electrical short.

My brother runs a construction company and a lot of his employees borrow money from him/the company. It lets them avoid paying interest on a loan or a pay day advance fee. My brother thought has some kind of accounting trick where he can actually legally (or maybe semi-legally) deduct it out of their paycheck. They sign some kind of form about withdrawing some amount as an equipment allowance and agreeing to repay X amount per pay cycle.

2 things.

1) A sport utility vehicle belonging to one of Walters' drivers was still on top of the container at mid-morning.

So... you didn't make him get them all down?

2) Put my car on a shipping container i put your teeth down your throat.

Interestingly, this is exactly the reasoning used by the working-class right whenever anyone suggests that people should be paid what their labor is worth to their company/society.

Nothing Semi-Legal about it. Perfectly legit. Considered to be a fringe benefit under IRS pub. 15-B. The loan amount is considered to be income and taxed as such, so go right ahead. Company just needs to outline the rules in advance so the benefit is available to all employees equally. There is a little more to it than that, but it is a very common practice among universities and the tech industry.

I had a boss who would act all nice and make favorites out of co-workers who loaned her money or let her make payments on stuff they would sell outside of work. When it came time for them to collect because she usually didn't pay them back, she would take them off of her favorits list and use her power as boss to make their lives a living hell by harassing them everytime they asked. Some contiuned the loans and other ate it and didn't loan her anymore money.
