I think they're working on a flawed hypothesis...

See, they probably assumed that the vapid, vain attention whores who would get botox injections would have empathy for people, or any real human emotions at all, in the first place.

Do we really need to speak to the ugly?

Isn't that why we paid them to invent catalogues, 800 numbers, emailing and texting?

Don't we have some complex in our brains whose sole function is to ask "If I were making that face what would I be thinking?" It sort of experimentally goes through the motion of what it would take to make such a face and sees what emotional associations spring to mind.

It makes sense that if you can't actually make a face anymore your emotional association to most faces will be something along the lines of "meh", which can't be good.

The plus side as I see it is that superficial, old, vain and rich people who get botox-injections are also made more gullible through this mechanism. The "he is smiling he must want to be my friend" when normal people think "that ass-hole with his smarmy smile is thinking about taking advantage of me" because that is what they would be thinking if they were smiling like that.

So being superficial and getting botox leads to being really superficial. I think I am okay with that.

I'm guessing that being overly botoxed may impact you trying to do things like interact with small children or train a dog. If you're yelling at an animal, and it doesn't see it in your face, then are you really mad? It must be confusing to them. It would also suck to be raised by a mom that has so many chemicals pumped into her face that you've never seen what they're true expressions look like.

People who defend rich people and call others jealous of wealth when they mention the threat(especially if they didn't themselves earn money outside of marriage or inheritance)need to SERIOUSLY study the centuries of feudalism in Europe.

Go. do. it. now.

Wealth = power = DANGEROUS if not kept in check. shiat, just go watch Braveheart, for that about sums it up.

It has nothing to do with envy and everything to do with the kind of fear we should have (instead of fearing what is not a threat to most (like Muslims). You have a better chance of winning the lottery and getting hit by lightening on the same day then dying from that.

Oh, and THIS

ANYBODY who defends the rights of people to put a large percentage of the worlds resources in the hands of just a few people should have to work for a feudal lord for a year.

It is support for the statement "It is OK for me to spend $500 for one bottle of alcoholic fizzy grape juice even if it means 10 people do not eat for a month and therefore die"

or

"The value to be placed upon me having no wrinkles on my forehead is the same value that should be placed on 10 people eating for a month"

you just cannot care about others if you spend money on botox. One excludes the other. This does not imply causation in the same way that matter and antimatter do not cause each other but you cannot have both in the same bottle...

Lessons long since learned. Power is kept in check through other means now, and in particular, means were found to do it that respect people's rights. Removing those checks for aesthetic concerns, as socialists oppose, is the real danger.

It has nothing to do with envy and everything to do with the kind of fear we should have (instead of fearing what is not a threat to most (like Muslims).

Socialists imagine a different threat than Islamophobes do, but ultimately both are guilty of imagining threats where none exist.

This is absurd. In both cases you are linking things with absolutely no concern for one another, all because they deal with aesthetics you don't like.

you just cannot care about others if you spend money on botox.

Spending money on botox is stupid, but it has nothing whatsoever to do with caring (or not) about other people.

This does not imply causation in the same way that matter and antimatter do not cause each other but you cannot have both in the same bottle...

If it doesn't imply causation -as you freely admit- then your conclusions have no basis in logic or fact. The prosecution rests.

I would think that botox would fix those calloused assholes. But I'm no dorkter.

I would suspect that just about anyone who would purposely have a toxic substance pumped into their face in order to temporarily look younger, already has a distorted perception of other people emotions and intentions.

Look at all the women who for some reason think the catfish look is attractive.

Hey, Breast Implants were for women who survived breast cancer, but you don't think of them when you hear about implants, you think of the attention whores who aren't satisfied with nice, natural breasts.

I get botox injections in my underarms due to hyperhydrosis. Years ago, I was able to sweat right though a leather jacket. It was a constant water faucet no matter what the temperature. After years of trying different topical treatments, insurance finally covered botox injections and they've been a god send. I can finally feel confident without the ubiquitous sweat stain emanating from my pits. My self confidence has skyrocketed. I feel more alive than ever. And perhaps most importantly, I no longer give a flying fark about the Japanese earthquake victims, the iriqui people, lybia, the hungry, the homeless, etc. Life is so much better without those things weighing me down.

/Had four botox sessions over four years.
//Seriously works like gangbusters.

I don't know many people who got rich by hard work, by exploiting other people's hard work sure, but their own not so much. The hardest working people I know are not rich. The rich people I know spend a lot of time not doing anything much because once you have money it makes more money for you while you can sit on your arse mocking the poor people for not working hard enough to become rich, or mocking people with wrinkles, or something equally callous.
