(Washington Post)   You know in the movies where the Mad Scientist's insane creation inevitably turns on him? The GOP just got to the part where it dawns on them that the monster isn't under their control anymore   (washingtonpost.com) divider line 242

The Neocons are left-wing socialist nutballs. They have been since the Progressive Era. That's why they can't oppose anything the Democrats do.

The Tea Party isn't something they created. It's made up of some of that 60%+ of people who stopped voting because they had no one to vote for.

Top Republicans try to scotch birther theories

I'm pretty sure giving the Birthers lots of booze and hoping they go away isn't going to work the way you intend. I think the President's detail needs upping.

Yes, I understand him -- but it's more a question of whether or not he's worth understanding.

He's right, in a sense. It's been long-understood by poli-sci wonks that neoconservatism had heavy Marxist (specifically Trotskyite) influences.

He's absolutely wrong about everything else. Neoconservatism emerged in the 1970's, and obviously the Tea Party wouldn't exist without very generous funding from Dick Armey's think tanks.

You know I just figured out a way to counteract these rumors once and for all. Explain to the birthers that this whole birth certificate thing is really an idea fostered by liberals in order to make conservatives appear insane to the independent voters, so the independents will vote for Obama in the next election.

On Monday, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer became the highest-ranking Republican official to confront the matter, vetoing legislation to require presidential candidates to show a birth certificate or other document, such as a circumcision record, to prove eligibility.

Circumcision record? What does THAT have to do with anything? Unless you only want snipped males in the White House ;)

Birther theories? Can it rightfully be called a theory if its nothing more than an insane fantasy from a bunch of nutballs? It should be called something else. Birther derpory or something. The word theory gives these idiots too much credence.

Kinda amusing that it took the GOP four years to figure out that it was gonna be damaging to them.

Well, evolution is a theory, and it's complete hogwash, so I think the word fits pretty well.

Baptismal records have the date & place you were born. When my family moved from Jersey City to the Jersey Shore, they had lost my birth certificate in the move. When they needed to enroll me in the new school, they used my baptismal record rather than getting another copy. The school accepted it because it had all the required info.

Not even closeted. Heard a great Howard Stern segment where they interviewed a Tea Party/Glenn Beck rally and got some people to flat out admit they don't like blacks or Jews.

The far-right 9/11 'Truthers' actually had a more plausible conspiracy theory, but the mainstream Republicans did a pretty good job of shutting them up. I guess, like anything else, if your 'team' is in power, you'll circle the wagons, but if it's the other guys, well, hey, anything goes.

Pawlenty even turned the matter into a stump-speech punch line. "Now, I'm not one to question the authenticity of Barack Obama's birth certificate," Pawlenty told a tea party rally over the weekend in Iowa. "But when you look at his policies, I do question what planet he's from."

Seekrit Martian.
