Local media DEMAND (no S)!!!

Media is a plural noun.

/Six years of Latin pays off

Arpaio looks Messican to me.

Also, Arpaio's son-in-law, Phil Boas, is the Editorial Page Editor at the Arizona Republic. I'm sure there are no shenanigans to be inferred.

If you want to know anything about Arpaio's crime ring, errrr.. MCSO command staff, you gotta read the Phoenix New Times. He locks their reporters up on occasion dontchaknow...

Huh. I guess the Arizona Republic's balls finally dropped.

They've ignored Sheriff Joe's various shenanigans for years, letting the New Times do all the dirty work. Now that the DOJ is sniffing around, I guess only now has the Republic decided to look at what is going on literally in its backyard (the Republic buidling is about, ohhhhhhhh, .75mi away from MCO's jail complex).

i hate to go Simmons here, but it is beginning to look like the end of Shawshank; you know how when the "real" police come in, and then suddenly all the screws start flipping out, ratting on each other, and that sadistic screw (myron hadley or some shiat) gets arrested and starts crying, and then the warden barricades himself in his office and then eats a .38? not saying that's how Nickel Bag Joe goes out, but....people are starting to push back and speak out.

and i have no doubt that...today is monday, hmm....i expect wed / thurs Nickel Bag Joe will deploy his stupid tank and about 140 sheriffs to a godamn Chipotle franchise to arrest 7 illegals.

Arpaio released a letter last week saying the report would not be shared with the public until the accused employees had a chance to review Babeu's findings and exhaust their appeal rights.

Later Today:
Hey joe, it's a witchhunt, eh? Everything that report says is a lie. Let's say you gives us our jibs back and we promise these things won't never happen again, what do ya say, Joe>

I don't know, has he ever presented his full birth certificate for scrutiny?
If not: why not?
Sotero..Arpaio..sounds like just another Muslin Kenyan agent is trying to take away our freedoms, democracy and apple pie.

The Gordie Howe Hat Trick: Arpaio looks Messican to me.

Dunno if he's Messican, but he certainly dresses like a banana republic dictator.

Reminds me of the old Simpsons Episode:
Kent: Mr. Simpson, how do you respond to the charges that petty
vandalism such as graffiti is down eighty percent, while heavy
sack-beatings are up a shocking nine hundred percent?
Homer: Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent.
Forfty percent of all people know that.
Kent: I see. Well, what do you say to the accusation that your group
has been causing more crimes than it's been preventing?
Homer: [amused] Oh, Kent, I'd be lying if I said my men weren't
committing crimes.
Kent: [pause] Well, touche'.

Plus, love the Fiscal Conservatism, Arpaio has (as of 2007, sure it's more now) cost Maricopa County taxpayers $41.4 million.

New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston, for example, collectively housed more than 61,000 inmates per day last year. From 2004 through November of this year, these same county jails had a combined 43 prison-conditions lawsuits filed against them in federal courts.

In the very same three-year time frame, despite housing a mere 9,200 prisoners per day, Sheriff Arpaio was the target of a staggering 2,150 lawsuits in U.S. District Court and hundreds more in Maricopa County courts.

Now the media can demand an internal affairs report before the accused are charged? I don't think a press badge is what you think it is.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio wanted to set up road blocks to check everyones car for drugs and to make sure people are legal. It had to be explained to him, with small words and a slow pace, that it was illegal to do that.

He also wanted to buy a tank. Yes, a tank.

But he protects the old white people in Arizona from the brown-skinned man, and in the end isn't that what's important?

If these reporters and Phoenix lawyers are so great why did they resist arrest at routine traffic stops?

2011-04-18 12:39:50 PM
We also need to see his birth certificate to prove that he wasn't in fact born in Mexico like previous reports suggest.

Should we be looking for the long-form birth certificate?.

No no, he has a tank. google "sheriff joe tank steven seagal".

just about a month ago, none other than Mason Storm himself helped Sheriff Joe break up a cockfighting ring....with the tank.

He never seemed to mind showing videos of civilians who were going into holding before they had a trial. And putting it on television for the world to see.

Why do people with badges get special rights?

fta:

You're asking for an internal-affairs report that could lead to discipline against these employees before we've decided what the discipline is. We've never done that."

i'm snot sure i understand what is being suggested, the contra seems to indicate that what's done 1st is decide what the disciplinary action is, then investigate.

i'm trying to imagine how that spells out-
judge: you are hearby sentenced to 10 years
defendant: why?
judge: i don't know, we need to investigate.

there's likely something i'm missing.

tyrajam: Now the media can demand an internal affairs report before the accused are charged? I don't think a press badge is what you think it is.

Personally, I think those types of documents should be made public as the default setting, with very narrow exceptions (ie, don't release info on undercover officers or informants).

Most cops do a fine job, and the light of public scrutiny on the process will only make BAD cops scurry like roaches.

I think we can all agree that no; no it doesn't.
