Now that's funny.
2003-08-07 02:53:22 PM
Ar-nuld is Bloomberg West.

All the dittoheads that cheered last night aren't cheering today.
2003-08-07 02:53:32 PM
Funniest headline of the day.
2003-08-07 02:56:33 PM
If nothing else, Schwarzenegger deciding to run is leading to some great comedy.
2003-08-07 03:02:04 PM
But Simon, Issa and Coleman are good people.
2003-08-07 03:23:07 PM
Best. Headline. Evar.
2003-08-07 03:31:41 PM
Great headline.

This is what I was predicting in other threads yesterday. While all the Republicans around my office are pissing their pants with joy about Ah-nuld joining the race, their sole criterion seems to be that the guy would have an "R" after his name on the ballot, and that's pretty much all they know about his candidacy. But the members of the religious right care about such things as the fact that Swarzenegger is pro-choice, that he has allegedly farked around with women in a Clinton-like manner, and that has appeared nekkid in violent movies with lots of cussin'.

Bottom line: a lot of Republicans, especially the far right ones, aren't going to vote for Ah-nuld after they learn a little more about his relatively moderate position on many issues. In a lot of ways, he's more liberal that Gray Davis is (which isn't saying much, since Davis is way to the right of most California Democrats). If Republicans had been willing to nominate a relatively moderate candidate in the last election--Riordan--there wouldn't be a recall now, because Riordan would have stomped the living shiat out of Davis last November. But no, they had to go and nominate a right-winger, and you saw what happened.
2003-08-07 03:59:07 PM
Cyberluddite La la la la.... I can't hear you..... Our candidate can beat up your candidate..... la la la la. What are these "issues" you speak of ??
2003-08-07 04:00:19 PM
HAHAHAHA the guy who started the recall campaign and paid for it with his own money just pulled out of the race...LOLOLOLOLOL!

2003-08-07 04:24:09 PM
Since she is a Kennedy, I wonder how Maria will be voting?
2003-08-07 04:43:46 PM
I am happy to vote for Ahnuld.
He is not in it for the money (unlike most politicians)
He ran a great campaign to get kids afterschool programs that didn't come out of my pocket.

and, oh yeah he's not Davis.
2003-08-07 04:52:38 PM
Arnold hasn't been indeited for fraud on multiple occasions like Simon. Unlike Simon, he's not farking insane. I've met both of them. I dined with Bill Simon. The inane shiat coming out of his mouth made him sound like McCarthy Jr. The back-biting from extreme right-wingers like him scare me away from the republican party.

Now there's a fairly liberal T-800 running for office. If I wasn't voting for myself, I'd vote for him.
2003-08-07 04:53:14 PM
As the first normal farker to post in this thread... religion should stay the hell out of politics.
2003-08-07 04:53:37 PM
I notice there were no reasons given.
2003-08-07 04:53:57 PM
The plot thickens...
2003-08-07 04:54:03 PM
2003-08-07 04:54:12 PM
"religion should stay the hell out of politics."

You want to clue our clueless President in on that. He can't seem to get that through his thick skull.
2003-08-07 04:54:39 PM
Beware of leaders spouting "I have all the money I need, I wont be beholden to anyone"... From our experience here in NYC, they are beholden to no one, most notably to voters.

Arrogance is not the best quality in a leader.

2003-08-07 04:55:20 PM
"It's not a tomber!"

Uhm, I think I'd be voting libertarian.
2003-08-07 04:55:33 PM
Yeah, yeah. What I want to know is what does Captain Lou say?

2003-08-07 04:56:14 PM
I 2nd that motion about religion and politics.. makes me all higgly piggly. :(
2003-08-07 04:56:31 PM
Great headline. Nearly spat out my PBR when I read it.
2003-08-07 04:56:52 PM
Thank you Cyberluddite,

Rev. Lou Sheldon didn't actually give any examples of lapses in moral character so I wasn't clear on what they may be.

If I understand this correctly, the California far right (all three of them) refuse to support Arnold?

What a ringing endorsement.
2003-08-07 04:57:34 PM
This is an obvious attempt for Rev. Lou Sheldon to try and get some attention. To arrange an interview with Rev. Sheldon, please call (703) 931-2324.

If that does not remove all credibility, I don't know what would.

By the way if you would like to interview me about the comment please call (800) 328-7448 (it spells something)
2003-08-07 04:59:20 PM
Rev. Sheldon keep your morals out of our state and we'll keep our state out of your morals.

"My Sheldon would never say that."

2003-08-07 04:59:54 PM
I wouldn't vote for him, not after what he did to those people during that food riot. I saw the footage myself on ICS.
2003-08-07 05:00:04 PM
'nuff reason for me to vote for him right there......if I lived in that state.
2003-08-07 05:01:09 PM
that website is pretty scary -- check out the urban legends section if you get a chance.

while you're there, vote YES in the poll and see if we can get the "vote" going the other way ...

that would really chap his arse, huh ?
2003-08-07 05:01:11 PM
Thanks for the breat Hyacinth reference.
2003-08-07 05:01:15 PM
Best line: "said today Arnold Schwarzenegger would create a "moral vacuum" in Sacramento if he became California's governor."

Is this chowderhead familair with what CURRENTLY exists in Sacramento?

2003-08-07 05:01:17 PM
Funniest phrase in the whole damn thing - "Ronald Reagan was a great actor who..."
2003-08-07 05:01:20 PM
Kinda funny how their poll (huh huh huh, I said poll) has a buhzillion votes today, compared to old ones that have very few.

/fark link= mass hits
2003-08-07 05:02:46 PM
Who cares that he chases skirts? I sure dont. I didnt care for Clinton but I cheered for him when I found out he was getting some side play. Pleople please remember it is not against the law or a crime to get some side action.
2003-08-07 05:03:21 PM
What issues is he against? All he said was, "We don't like him. He's not very nice." Thanks for the in-depth analysis, Sheldon. How bout a little substance instead of your usual windbag hot-air bullcrap?
2003-08-07 05:03:45 PM

The poll allows mutiple voting!
2003-08-07 05:04:11 PM
Behold the power of fark?
The poll on homosexual marriage on the site has gone from 1% to 3%... farkers held for questioning. :P
2003-08-07 05:04:25 PM
Why Arnold will lose in California.

Read the above and tell me he has a chance.
2003-08-07 05:05:14 PM
And I thought I was the only one voting yes on homsexual marriage in their poll!
2003-08-07 05:07:13 PM
The fact that he's NOT one of these people is exactly why I will vote for the Governator.
2003-08-07 05:07:22 PM
I don't understand the moral indignation with regards to the Terminator. No examples were given. Is Aahnold a Scientologist or something?
2003-08-07 05:07:26 PM
I'm praying to God that He might choose to kill all Christians.

2003-08-07 05:07:51 PM
we got a lot of work to do to get the poll really messed up, but fark has the power!

I'd like to see their faces when the poll goes past 50-50!
2003-08-07 05:08:28 PM
Hyernel, Im with you. Afterwards I hope he moves on to all organized religions.
2003-08-07 05:09:13 PM
Mackerel, I'm in the same boat as you. Bloomberg should have listened to the advice they're trying to get Ah-nold to follow.
"when you are successful and you change, you are an idiot"

I guess it's his Ventura-envy popping up again. He just can't stand Jesse "the body" being governor when he's hasn't.
2003-08-07 05:10:15 PM
2003-08-07 04:56:52 PM majie
If I understand this correctly, the California far right (all three of them) refuse to support Arnold?

While there are that many of them in the Bay Area or L.A., there is a significant far right contingent here in L.A. The rural areas of this state can claim some of the most wacko right-wing nutjobs anywhere--all you have to do is look at some of the Congressmen they elect to understand that. And there's always Orange County and San Diego, which have significant right-wing contingents.

In fact, the Republican Party's biggest problem in California is that they've been taken over by the far right, and they keep putting up far-right candidates that non-Republicans and many moderate Republicans can't vote for. Dems don't outnumber Republicans in California by that much (maybe something like 6 to 5), but the main reason that all of the statewide officeholders are Democrats is because, since the takeover of the state's Republican Party by the right, most Republican candidates are right-wing idealogues that don't appeal to mainstream voters.

Though hard-right candidates always lose, moderate Republicans can be elected in California. Ah-nuld may prove that.
2003-08-07 05:10:27 PM
I'd say it was a vanity campaign way is Aahnold gonna go in there and clean house like his movies...
2003-08-07 05:10:45 PM
I live in a moral vacuum and it is wonderful.
I am the lord of the drink.
2003-08-07 05:11:05 PM
come on gang -- go vote YES (on the values poll ... i don't mean for arnold)
