They're not spheres.

2011-04-11 04:03:38 PM
Eggs are spheres! Who knew?

I guess they couldn't use "Oval", since oval is Latin for egg.

2011-04-11 04:03:56 PM
I'm more upset that the school wanted to refer to those eggs as spheres than I am at any attempt to make giving Easter eggs politically correct.

Now Fox is starting "War on Easter" nonsense? F**k off.

Maybe I should start waging a war on Easter just out of spite.

Since the Christians stole the spring fertility festival from the pagans, shouldn't they be called "Formerly Fertility Festival Now Called Easter or Be Executed Eggs"?

Jesus isn't the "reason for the season", the goddamn bunnies are.

Mods: We need to enable voting on this thread, and come up with better alternate names for Easter eggs.

Stupid name, but Easter Eggs shouldn't be in schools. This is a private school so perhaps it's not so bad, but in a public school now way. Not everyone is Christian. Think Christians would go for Passover Packs or Eid Eggs?

2011-04-11 04:08:51 PM
Must have been done for the lulz, as it was a private school. The Atheists Militant couldn't have even claimed a violation of the First Amendment and filed suit.

I find this insulting considering I am an actual veteran of the Easter Wars.

You're thinking Christmas. Easter has a very circumspect relationship with the Vernal Equinox.

All easter eggs shall henceforth be known as Happy Rabbit Balls.

Easter is called that because it was the month of the goddess Eostre. That's religious, I admit; we probably should get rid of it. While we're at it, though, we also need to rename the farking month of June, which also happens to be named after a goddess (Juno).

And most of the days of the week, which are named after Norse gods.

Ooh, ooh, also January and May, named after Janus and Maia, respectively.

I would go for either one as long they contained chocolatey goodness inside!

I forgot about that. Just a few months ago I let all my co-workers know that today was Wodin's Day.

You can call them yom kippur yum yums for all I care, just fill them with goodies and hide them in my yard.

Better yet, fill them with beer and don't hide them.

I've always called them "rooster bullets."
"Two rooster bullets, lookin' at ya" That would be sunny side up.

You know, I'm no Christian, but the last time I picked up an Easter egg, I didn't magically burst into flames or feel compelled to smite a gay.

This may be a long shot, but can we all maybe just try to be less retarded?

2011-04-11 04:34:46 PM
I consider Easter, like Christmas, to have been sufficiently neutered by secular consumerism as to not consider it an affront to political correctness. Easter eggs, essentially, are "spring spheres," there is not one thing about an Easter egg that has anything to do with Christianity in the first place.

"Spring spheres"? Is that really the best they could come up with in their quest for euphemisms?

2011-04-11 04:35:51 PM
I think they must be doing this kind of stuff just to boost the "war on Christianity" stuff on purpose. It's like this: some uber-Christian school administrator rules that you can't use the word "Easter" or "Christmas" at school, knowing the media will pick it up and the community mostly made up of nominal-Christians, will lose their ever-farking minds.

So, even more attention will be paid to Easter or Christmas.

The smart thing would be to stop trying to "edit out" age-old customs and celebrations that really aren't causing any divisiveness. I mean, do I care if Muslims celebrate "happy birthday to Muhammad" day whatever they celebrate? Do I care if Jews celebrate rosh hashanah? Or African Americans, Kwanzaa?

No. Anyone who does, needs to take a crow-bar to their panties.

It wouldn't be alliterative. These things are important.

/anyone who seriously would do something like this deserves to be repeatedly punched in whatever junk they have
