Just what we need, some dumb, liberal, gay ex-athlete running for office. That'll fix things.

2011-04-11 01:48:42 PM
The existence of this music video (new window) should disqualify Carl Lewis from ever holding public office.

I hope he's running away from the microphone during the Star Spangled Banner.

Another cast member from Predator runs for office? How many is that now? Like five?

2011-04-11 02:17:07 PM
Thats great.

Lets get another guy in office who might win just because he's black.

(but at least this guy really IS black)

2011-04-11 02:19:04 PM
Just give it up. You'll only be half as good as you used to be, you'll have a lot of emotional anguish, you'll lie awake nights crying, and your body will fall apart under the strain. It's not worth it.

Wait, he's running for office? It'll be twice as bad then.

2011-04-11 02:19:32 PM
The guy is a liar and a cheater so I'm not surprised that he wants to be a politician.

He took Sudafed, which is pretty easy to do accidentally. Big whoop.

What's the over/under on articles with "running" puns in the headlines until election day?

I'm thinking "infinity cubed"

2011-04-11 02:42:27 PM
a man kin only run for so long afore he larns that what he's runnin from is hisself.

Thats why you gotta strap on that six-shooter, go out thar and meet that sidewinding hombre Frank Miller when he gits off that train at High Noon.

2011-04-11 02:43:32 PM
So I guess if he finishes butt naked last, the press will still ask if he'll be allowed to run again.

And fortunately, there's no drug testing in Congress. (Although USADA would probably cover it up, anyway).

He's running for the New Jersey state Senate? State Senate?

He should know that a celebrity should always run for national office.

/Pfft.

Am I missing something? Three tests showed he'd taken cold medicine. The USOC said it believed it was accidental.

Really? Scumbag? For cold medicine?

Close but, this video of him singing the National Anthem should be enough to keep him from being allowed to hold public office. EVER.

Wow. Just... wow.

Not that it would *ever* happen to me, but if anyone asked me to sing the National Anthem, I'd tell them I had too much respect for the song to butcher it with my singing voice.

That is one hard farking song to master.

Huh - "f" "-" "cking" got edited to "farking".

The tests didnt show what he took, thats what he claimed it was but the tests showed higher levels over what common over the counter medicine will show and the USOC covered it up. Dont forget this was during the olympics years when ratings sucked so they needed the american audience for advertising. Watch Bigger, Stronger, Faster documentary, they go into it pretty well about how its been a problem in sports a lot longer than anyone realizes and that even though the east germans/russians were doping so were the americans most years.

I can't imagine a drug test designed not to tell you what the person had in them. Anabolic steroids and pseudoephedrine do very different things to the body. How could they possibly design a test that can't tell the difference?

Also, this SI article says: "Carl Lewis. At the 1988 Olympic trials he tested positive three times for small amounts of banned stimulants found in cold medications: pseudoephedrine, ephedrine and phenylpropanolamine. After first disqualifying Lewis from the Olympics, the USOC accepted his appeal on the basis of inadvertent use."

He should have participated in the same Olympics as this guy.

Yes, it found the grouping of what he took but it does not say how they got there, that is my point, and according to the reports the dosages were a lot higher than what would be in medicines. Watch the steroid documentary it puts a lot of athletes in a suspicious light, some agents are masking agents for other drugs in the body. Its a good film even if you choose to ignore people may have been dirty that you loved.

Funny, I thought the article would be about a police chase.

Yes and a lot of stuff is on the banned list for false tests, you would think someone with carls endorsements would know to not drink that when he will be tested. Oh, sorry the amounts found in those will be gone in under 24 hours, considering he knew when he would be tested or about the weeks/months he would be tested then its almost impossible for him to claim cold medicine caused the fake tests. Especially when other trainers claim they lied or hid results for team members, just watch the documentary and try to understand that quite a few people cheated. Thats what ben johnson thought was so funny, all of them were doing it, he just got caught because he had a bad PR person.
