It is understood she was suffering from a spinal condition and had been bedridden for some time.

But sure, your obesity is a "disease"

I think a kilogram is the Australian equivalent of the traditional English "rock." 11 rocks is kind of heavy, at least for a cat.

Actually, a rock is lighter in Australia than in Great Britain because they are upside down in Australia.

Yeah no shiat. That's both amazing and disgusting an adult can survive around 23 lbs. This thread is just fine without pics or links to pics.

That's what I was thinking...I mean, bones and the bare essential organs of a normal sized person have to weigh more than that, right? Anyone more familiar with biology want to weigh in?

How is that possible? The organs of a normal adult must weigh more than that, skin alone is like 10 lbs isn't it?

Also, fark, even if she only wasted away to twice that weight that's a perfect case for legal euthanasia. fark living with that shiat.

Not unusual for CP survivors.

We have one little girl who "luckily" survived to the ripe age of 16, who weighs only 30 lbs who's regularly seen in our area. Well, by lucky, I mean severely contractured, kept alive by a trachestomy and ventilator, fed through a mickey button, and only communicates through a series of grunts.

But hey, quantity trumphs quality of life, am I right

Skeletons run 12% to 15% of our body weight- assuming we aren't total porkers. The actual skeleton, if it were dried after death isn't that much because you lose the water weight of the marrow and circulatory system.

She would have had to started out pretty darn small- a growth disorder of some kind. The hint in TFA about the spinal deformity would suggest some kind of dwarfism.

Still, the woman starved to death over a prolonged period of time. I've seen women over 5 feet tall weighing less than 50 pounds- if she were short, yeah, she could achieve the 24 pounds.

Jesus, that poor woman. Who was supposed to be taking care of her? I can't imagine someone with even the potential to end up in that condition living alone. I wonder if any "caretaker" arrests will be announced shortly.

Barakku: perfect case for legal euthanasia

Apparently it is perfectly legal to kill someone by withholding food and water. Terry Schiavo for instance, in whose case her parents, who wanted to keep her alive, were forced by legal authorities to stay away and let the hospice kill her under order of her husband.

How often do they survive to 27? If any of them make it that far, then I guess it's possible she really was only 24 pounds, but I'm guessing she really breaks the odds on this one.

You can also kill your unwanted children by subscribing to some nutjob superstition and laugh while they die of a treatable disease or condition because your imaginary friend said he'd cure them with magic.

Holy crap.

My son is 6, short for his age (103cm/3ft4in), and weighs 12kg. He is stick thin.
We`ve had multiple inquiries into whether he is being fed properly, being abused, etc, initiated by concerned social workers (who know nothing about him)...

Weighing that much at *27* is just... wow. I can`t even imagine. Skin and bones alone would almost go over 11kg. Isn`t an adult skeleton 4.5kg?

I really cannot picture this unless they were VERY small and extremely dehydrated.

And have the old useless disabled wife killed by forcible prevention of rescue by her parents so that he can keep the insurance money that he said he needed for her rehabilitation, to blow on his newer, younger spouse. FTFH.

Need better case. This one was an ethical field of landmines. The hubby pledged to care for her until she died a natural death. Then he met another woman and suddenly remembered the old wife wanted to die with dignity. At the time of TS's death, the hubby was engaged to the new woman, living in a house they had purchased together and they had 2 kids.

I would haunt my husband's ass forever if he pulled that shiat. Poltergeist would look like a Disney movie.

My son is 5 and weighs... Um. Double that. :)

Thankfully we don't have people inquiring as to whether we abuse him by shoving food down his maw. I'm sorry that you do. I'm sure the first couple times you were at least grateful that people cared, but after that... :|

But is living on a feeding tube "natural"? I'm not saying the guy didn't have other shady stuff going on, but we talk so much about how important a natural death is, then we hook people up to machines that make them "living" sacks of organs with no actual life. We've lost all concept of the term "natural death."
