Yeah, I'm sensing a flaw in their "security" plan. Wheels.

"Lojack" is old and busted. All you need is a GPS module and a SMS board. Message "where are you?", it powers up, gets a GPS fix, messages you back a minute later with coordinates accurate to 30ft, maybe 10ft, as long as it's not in an enclosed metal garage.

Yeah that can be a problem. The antenna must be external. However, any super-wise criminal might go looking for the antenna and rip it off. Given the normally smooth or "regular pattern" surfaces of these items, an antenna would need to be cleverly concealed- and/or decoys which appear MORE like an antenna employed as a diversion.

A GPS antenna can generally get a fix from under a vehicle. Not as accurate a location, may take longer to get a fix, and may be considerably less capable of getting a fix at all with other complicating factors like being surrounded by buildings.

I actually know someone building a DIY Grow-bot from an old 32' travel trailer he bought cheap after his wife said she wanted the garage back. The front part looks normal inside, with the living room and galley left intact as his man cave/game room/smoking lounge. Behind that is a 17' computerized 'sealed room' grow room with four 1kw HPS lamps, a/c and dehumidifier, water, etc. He had a slab poured next to his garage; tied in a waste-water drain line, 50-amp RV service...the works.

I asked him if that might not attract attention. He laughed and said that half the houses in rural Florida have a down-on-his-luck relative living in a travel trailer next to the garage, so was confident there was no real risk. He and his woman smoke teh ebil weed and have no kids, so I suspect the risk is pretty low.

Growbots grow-op trailers are crap compared to Transformers.

Just look at the extensive line of portable grow-ops offered by the Autobots: SmokeScreen, Huffer, Skyfire, Inferno, Afterburner, HIGHbrow and Pipes.

The Decepticons have a decidedly less chill, smaller presence in the grop op market. Its product line merely consists of the Trypticon, Mindwipe, Blast Off, and (the ill-named) Misfire.

Yeah until some nosy asshole neighbor starts complaining about the smell coming out of his ventilation port. Hydro plants freaking reak, and I doubt his neighbors are going to buy the "it's just a skunk under my porch" excuse for very long.

If the dude went to this much trouble, you can be sure he put carbon filters or something else on the outlet.

He's been growing in dirt for several years, and I think he's planning to stay with that, so the smell should stay as manageable as it is now. And he has a closed-loop active carbon filter he'll be moving into the trailer. Plus, he's on about 3 acres, so he's confident the neighbors won't notice.

Essentially, he's moving his existing single-bay garage grow op into the trailer.

Yup, a fellow vintage road racing enthusiast had his trailer stolen from a well-known East Coast vintage fabrication shop's fenced and locked parking lot. The perks cut the gate lock and got his car (low volume Brit car with only about 60 ever imported to the States), two spare motors and a shiatload of spares and pricey name-brand tools.

Fortunately for him, the security cameras showed the perps cutting his trailer's tongue lock off, so a he got a nice settlement check (he had off-track insurance). The empty trailer was found abandoned about a week later and several hundred miles away. One motor was recovered about a year later when it was put up on racingjunk. The rest disappeared.
