...So no need to stop anytime soon?

Snark aside, I'm wondering if my state is honestly trying to have the more moderate/reasonably intelligent parts overdose on facepalm. Honestly, even the Amish in my part of the state consider this amendment stupid, not because they support gay rights, but because it is God's place to judge the sinners and man is showing his hubris.

Consider that little fact, the AMISH are more progressive than the legislature.

I am very, very , extremely happy bout this Ace move by Indiana.
This wisdom will spread, since each state would like to reduce the possibility of their state getting the Judgment of God, before others do.

You see, a lot of folks, believers or not, simply do not want to tempt God in any possible way, when we already face world destructive events.

When the leadership begins to support, aid and abet iniquity, that is when God allows the judgment to occur.
Read the books of Chronicals, Kings etc to see the deeper details how kingdoms rise and fall.

See why States leaders might want to "clean up"

Hah, Indiana.

There's a reason why the BoR exists. Once DOMA is ruled unconstitutional SC it doesn't matter what bill the backwards Jesusfreaks pass.

That will be pretty funny when slimey authoritarians like this have to campaign against the Constitution while claiming to love it.

If we're going with biology, humans are naturally polygamous so I demand the right to have 5 wives!

Of course, in my case, it would be a purely theoretical right, but that's not the point.

Marriage is dependent on biology. That's what you're going with? A human-created religious ceremony can only be 'real' if it involves two humans of the oppodite sex? Ok, duly noted...

One thing i can't figure out, logically.
Why does the homosexual lobby want to appropriate some name/meme that has had a stable meaning for millenia?
Why cant they let marriage alone, but seek to pervert it?

Why can't they gwan and make their own name for their activity?
Why do they need to take over the authenticity belonging to persons and ideals they do not respect?

- why do they insist on changing and infiltrating existing religions, instead of founding their own, like everyone else does?-

Any legal rights can be attached to a new name as well as an old one.
Civil Union, whats wrong with that? Banana Union? Taco Union?
property settlements, inheritance, all can be assigned to a new name/function.

Why? it is recruitment.
Misery love company...
This isn't rocket science folks,
it is psychology.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say there's probably more than one thing.

Anyways, "separate but equal" doesn't work. No reason the government should have two different definitions of marriage, it is simply the concept of two humans sharing their life/property/etc.

I'm sure there were the same arguments in favor of keeping Jim Crow laws around.

/I follow one law, Old Crow laws.

That all seems surprisingly tame to me. I almost get a sense of defeat on their part, as if they are starting to realize they cant keep up the "marriage is sacred" act for much longer.

You know many, if not all of them, have a gay relative in the family, and im willing to bet just about all of them have battle scars from a nasty divorce.

Sure they may deny it, but some of them seem to be coming to a level of acceptance to me. Its only obvious some of them are gay themselves. or maybe im just drunk and giving them too much credit.

What about the will of the people who currently aren't allowed to use it? Why is that not 'infringement'? It's a civil rights issue, just like interracial marriage or freedom of choice. A real American would be championing these rights, not seeking to stifle them, Comrade.

The Amish have the sense to know that religion needs to stay out of civil government, and in return they want the civil government to stay out of their religion. As long as the church and state stay out of each other's business, they're happy. They aren't going to go along with the dominionists who want to obliterate the separation of church and state because the dominionists are the philosophical descendants of the people who ran the Amish out of Europe in the 17th century.

Conservatives complain that gay rights and gay marriages damage heterosexual marriages, and I'm sure they're right on that point. They lie awake at night, sweating and tossing and turning and imagining all the things gay people might be doing- instead of farking their own wives. That damages marriages. Let's concede that often-stated claim.

Yes, that, and the fact that they(every conservative I've ever known)rarely sleep in the same bed, if even the same room. I'm thinking more along the lines of a guilty conscience. The very thought of gay sex intrigues them and thus violates their holiness. The thought that it might be ok to try, just once, scares the bejeezus out of them.

Bottom line is: The realization that everything they have ever known might be wrong terrifies conservatives to the core.
