How does limiting permitted organized school activities prevent unpermitted organized school activities?

Petit_Merdeux: I don't get it.

There was a movie called Animal House that was made in the late 70s which was purported to be about college life during the mid 1960s. In one scene, one of the characters takes a creme filled donut and crams it into his mouth causing his cheeks to expand. He asks "guess what I am" and then uses his fists to punch himself in both cheeks causing the creme filling to come flying out of his mouth. He then says he was a zit.

The reason he says this is because if you squeeze a zit, also known as a pimple, you will get a discharge of white material coming out at high speed, much like the character when he caused the creme filling to come out.

The relevance of the headline stems from the fact that the scene in the movie preceded a food fight and since the article is about a food fight at a school, the submitter thought they would be funny by referencing it, not realizing that the movie may not have been seen by everyone.

The students can earn some of those activities back by being on good behavior.

OK then, the headline...not so much.

I've never had mashed potato come out of a popped zit. It always tastes much worse.

For some reason I always thought it was mashed potatoes.

That's because it was. It's spherical appearance was due to it being scooped with an ice cream scooper-like device frequently used to ensure consistent distribution of cafeteria food.

Why are they taking kids on field trips to amusement parks?

Are there no museums?

I think I know how to reform our education system.

I'm not sure what the Six Flags are like out in California, but missing out on a trip to the one here in Maryland isn't exactly a punishment.

Awwwww c'mon- the only kids that should get in trouble are the ones that blocked the doors.

/We had a food fight at my elementary school. Our only punishment was that we had to stay after school later that week and help the custodians, since they had cleaned up our mess.

//ELEMENTARY students are bringing drugs and guns to school and the administrators are freaking out about a food fight?!?! Geez.

Twas purée de pommes de terre.

As for my comment, he said "Get it?" right after the "I'm a zit"

I was just providing a hypothetical answer because one was never given in the film.

My kids (12 and 13) just had to watch that movie and they were just cracking up all thru it.

Next up for them, The Blues Brothers.

Loved John Belushi in everything

Oh my God my boyfriend's niece has one of those things and it's so creepy! The little songs they sing where they incorporate (poorly) the child's name? That's hilarious! How old's your kiddo?

2011-03-31 08:20:22 AM
So wait: this was planned by the students on FACEBOOK and yet the staff did nothing about it?

So I guess spoiled kids doing kid stuff is shocking to detached and oblivious parents and teachers.

Since when do school kids get to go to amusement parks anyway on a school outing?

So much derp in this story.

Well, it's sorta funny. But I don't think it the sort of headline that's gonna be pulling a lot of people in.

FTFA: "They are concerned, not just about the cost of clean up, which reached into the hundreds of dollars, but the safety of students."

Into the hundreds of dollars? Crap that's enough to cancel pretty much all after school activities right there. And no number 2 pencils for any one. And safety of the students? How can you hurt some one in a food fight? Are they afraid that there were people with sever peanut allergies being affected?

My point was, when I say, "Come up and see me sometime" and some one else says, "I'm sorry, but the proper quote is, 'Why don't you come up sometime 'n see me?'" I just look at them while thinking "Loser!"
