Or maybe it's more telling about the state of modern media.

This says less about the government and more about the people putting their desire to be entertained ahead of being informed.

There's a war? It wasn't discussed on Jersey Shore.

Speech at 7:30p: LOL, Obama would rather we watch celebrities dance than care about this war!!!1!

Speech at 8:00p: LOL, Obama sure loves to hear himself talk, I wish he'd stop forcing us to listen to him drone on all the time!!!1!

In a sense, I think that's kind of what Obama wanted this war. We were pulling our participation out almost before the planes had taken off.

We may not be officially taking the lead, but we're far from pulling our participation.

You think I'm watching it for the old out of shape people?!

I'm watching it for the supermodel and the female dancing pros! I mean I watch cause my wife want to. Yeah that's it.....

If I was on my desktop I would show examples, oh the examples I would show.

Really? If anything the US participation is ramping up, AC-130 and A-10s are strafing, a P-3 just sank a ship today. Hell, B-1Bs from South Dakota flew over Libya this morning and dropped 48 2,000 pound JDAMs

nah. rule number one of an oligarchy is that you don't f*ck with bread and circuses. we have to keep the crowd entertained, otherwise they'll start rioting.

At what point does ANYTHING become so important that it has to be carried on EVERY channel and network on television? What is the thinking behind this? If you want to watch TV you have no choice but to watch this? Is this in the public interest, necessity and convenience? Put it on one or two channels and/or networks and if WE want to watch it we will. Ten minutes of a speech and another hour of some talking head telling me what the President just said. No thanks, I'll read about it later on the net or in the paper.

Dancing with the Czars?

*

This is not the speech you want to ignore. Better to force yourself to pay attention, and even take notes about the many lies the teleprompter makes him tell...

*

See the thing about electing an Indonesian or Kenya or whatever the hell he is, you get a 'world president'. He has no more allegiance to America than he has to Mexico. In his world view they are one and the same. (However, he does seem to have resentment toward White countries)

The thing the Liberals have been plotting for years has arrived. Here it is Libs! Your unaffiliated world president dream! Good Job! Good going! Now we can all bask in your fanciful utopia. Where Unicorns fart rainbows.

Forget about whether Obama is eligible (which he is clearly not), he is simply not qualified. Everything he does is stupid, childish, and weird. Tonight is no exception.

*

You might opt to watch this super spin of the America destroyer, POTUS, Barack Hussein (hate America) Obama, but I would not give the "traitor" a minute of my time. So.....folks, do what you will, but do not ever say that you were not warned of this planned charade to allow the bad guy Muslim terrorists in Yemen, Egypt, Jordan, Sudan, Syria and Iran to become stronger in their hate for American and Americans while Obama makes believe he is doing in his buxom buddy Gaddafi. Obama is doing the bidding of Louie Farrakhan, Jeremiah Wright, Van Jones, Samantha Powers, Bill Ayers, and all the rest of the America haters and destroyers. And....you can bet your last penny that Gaddafi will survive, even if he rules only half of Libya!!! Obama has the murderer of Americans covered!!!

Okay, and I don't want to paste the whole discussion, but this is hilarious: someone mentions that "Sarah Palin's daughter" was on that show, and another poster replies "She has a name, you know". They get into a tizzy about whether calling her "Sarah Palin's daughter" is an insult, and a few comments actually get deleted over this. Ended with this comment:

You are correct. She made it to the show and popularity because of her mother. But she is Bristol, not Sarah Palin's daughter.

Treat her like a woman, not a subject.

Republicans before yesterday: WHEN IS OBAMA GOING TO TALK TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!

Republicans today: WHY WAS THIS ON TV!! IT"S NOT IMPORTANT!!

If there was one thing republicans didn't just automatically take the opposite side of Obama it would lend them some credibility.

Heck they were even against Obama's tax cuts.

I'd rather watch the Presidential address than Dancing with the Stars. I'd rather watch a test pattern than Dancing with the Stars.

If you're younger than 30, you may be wondering what a test pattern is.

Well you see a long long time ago we had this crazy idea that the government worked for the citizens and therefore we should be aware of events and actively participate in them and that this was literally the most important thing in the world even more than whatever retarded show you watch to turn yourself into a farking passive zombie.

It was just an idea, never really worked liked that. Just a silly silly, silly idea.

Honestly, I've thought about watching just for him. I'm a proud Jerichoholic from way back in the WCW days, when he was finding loopholes in century-old rulebooks to dodge Dean Malenko.

I just can't bring myself to actually try sitting through an episode again, though.

TV stations lost less ad revenue at that time than they would have carrying Baconator Hummus Fartblammo's address during prime time.

I believe the same night or day after people post clips on youtube so you can ff through the clip to find him. He's usually near the end - probably because he's probably the biggest draw they've got. He's so funny and charming it's really worth a shot to find the clips.

Fighting? Last I heard, Libyan ground troops were gunning down people as they fled the cities, looting their homes, and using tanks on civilians. We instituted a no fly zone, that was it. Apparently genocide is a-OK when it's committed via tank, machine gun, or machete; but dare a dictator use an airplane, and we're getting intervening.

For fark's sake. We never should have gotten involved at all.

clovis69: If anything the US participation is ramping up

Which is why nothing happened in the Libyan overnight tonight (3pm to 3am Eastern = 8pm to 8am Libyan time, and they haven't done much between 6am and 8am so far).

NATO took over the civilian protection part of the mission, and it looks like they're gonna let Gaddafi's army run all the way back to Benghazi because they did nothing to stop him from taking Bin Jawad or Ras Lanuf today.

Ultimately Gaddafi's leaving in a bodybag. We'd probably need to send in troops to make that happen. Because the rebels are not taking anything outside of the East, the Mountains, and Misrata, because they don't have the men or the arms to pull anything off.

Obama doesn't have the will to have a primetime oval office address about the war, much less the will to actually make stuff like "I hope Gaddafi leaves" turn into "I will make Gaddafi leave"

Gaddafi has essentially made Obama his girlfriend in the last month.

From the jump, Obama should just publicly state the opposite position of what he actually wants. I know it may look like he is caving, but at least we progress. Not like anyone is going to beat him in 2012 anyway.

The drivers of these Lybian tanks would disagree with you, but they're all dead:

Pro-Gaddafi forces have been forced to change into civilian clothes and rely mostly on light arms because we have kicked the shiat out of their heavy armor, and that shiat-kicking led to the rebels advancing 200 miles west into more heavily-defended pro-Gaddafi territory. I suspect that what we're seeing now is that the rebels overextended themselves after our air-strikes opened the war up for them and they are now having to fall back to correct that overreach.

Obama could have interrupted any show he pleased if he had made the announcement the day the war started and not days later.

When the president speaks at the moment of inception, he is the news source and people want to know what is happening.

The people of Misrata would be interested to hear about how there are no tanks left in Libya. CNN was reporting all day that, while flying overhead, coalition planes did little to stem the bombardment of the city.

CBS broke into the NCAA tournament (which was the biggest thing going when we started launching the Tomahawks) I give them credit for that. But yeah, it wasn't the President announcing anything.
