I am not buying the Chevy Volt. Get over it.

It says 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, the same as bungee jumping or skydiving. Does that mean that it's producing a "g" of acceleration?

Okay, CSB time:

We had complaints at work of a car-alarm going off around the same time every day and creating "disturbing reverberation" throughout the building. So, we send someone out the next day when the alarm goes off and he locates the car. It is a silver BMW with a license plate that reads "P90XGUY."

I think he needs an upgrade.

2011-03-29 11:27:58 AM
Yeah, that car would look just awesome with snow tires on it.

2011-03-29 11:28:25 AM
I'd better be able to drive it every day. Probably for the rest of my life at that price.

Cool I'm gonna go buy one and...wait...black rims? Yuck! Pass.

You don't get basic insurance if you drive a $380k vehicle.

It's not really a question of will it be covered, it's more of a question of who the hell can I take it to that has experience doing body work on Lambourghinis.

It's a CSB if he then pried the hood open with a crowbar, cut the battery loose, then threw it through his windshield with a pleasantly-written note attached.

60mph ~= 26.8m/s divided by 2.9 sec = 9.24m/s/s = 0.94g
pretty close... may be possible if air resistance is great enough..

Exactly. And will it be done right. I'd be a lot pickier about repairs to a $380,000 car than I would with an old Camry.

Thank god. I was getting sick of my 8 year old Accord. Guess I'll have to rent a garage at my apartment complex so I have a place to park my new Lambo though.

I would only buy a car like that if I was so super rich that $300,000 odd dollars was walkin' around money.

Then I'd beat on it like it was a rented red-headed stepchild mule.

It becomes common knowledge when you start buying and driving high dollar exotic sport cars.

I always take my exotics to Classic Coach in Elizabeth NJ.

Exactly. One thing I would demand in a $300,000 car is for it not to break down constantly. I suspect that this is why Lexus is popular-even Mercedes and BMW have shiat reliability, and I'm not even talking about their sporty M and AMG models.

I wonder how often billionaires driving Lambos and Ferraris and the like have to sit by the side of the road waiting for the AAA guy. Probably pretty damned often.

When I lived in Arizona there was a guy somewhere nearby who had a Diablo that certainly had the appearance of being a daily driver. I would see it around town from time to time and it just had that 'driven for all it was worth' look to it.

Just about any other time I have encountered an exotic car out in the wild, it's parked way out in the parking lot and blocking multiple spaces.

For most around town driving you wouldn't really even need to shift into 2nd.

Knew a guy with a Lambo Gallardo. Cost him $600 to get the oil changed. Just under $1000 for tires. $10,000 for a new front fascia (cracked the air dam on a speed bump). He claimed he could use it for a daily driver.

Makes me smile cus the guy is a real dickdoucheassnozzle.

$600 for an oil change? Did they have to milk a dinosaur?

You can spend $1000 on tires for a lot of cars, like Corvettes. If you are lucky you get 10,000 miles out of them.

And I'd rather drive a Mercedes AMG Gullwing.

Was he rich? Because if you're rich enough to buy such a car then i'm not sure $600 for oil is going to be an issue. If he's such a dickdoucheassnozzle that he's the type who would mortgage everything twice and go into debt to buy a car he can barely afford then he's a dickdoucheassnozzle.

It depends on the driver.

You don't even have to be a billionaire to afford one.

I've spent more time waiting on the side of the road in a year from driving a 04 Impala ( metal fatigue where the flywheel mounts to the torque converter...4 times) then I did driving exotics over the course of 20 years.

Yes cause a 3500 pound lambo vs a 500 pound sprt bike is an equal comparison.

how bout you add 3k pounds to the sport bike and get back to me on 0-60 times.

Cost me 1200$ for tires on my f-250.

Just under 1k for the Gallardo sounds like a bargain.

Depending on the cars service reccomendations an oil change might include changing the cabin air filter, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter, tire rotation, oil, gear oil, wiper fluid, PS fluid, brake fluid etc.....not neccessarily an oil filter and a couple quarts of oil.

Umm, no 2.9 is about max, a few bikes will do 2.7. Its very difficult to get acceleration faster than 1g with wheels because past 1g the wheels will just spin. (Weight pushing sideways being more than weight pushing down, equals sliding without special adhesives)

Nice car.

30-90 times > 0-60 IMO, (or better yet 30-120) in terms of importance, as that's generally where the fun factor in cars like this is.

When it comes to Lambos, I'd take the Reventon over that any day.

But for $380k you'd be crazy to buy trash like a Lambo. That is Ferrari, Merc AMG, Rollie Rolls, or McLaren territory.

Ever since I was a youngin I was fed a diet of Ferrari, so as an adult I have a huge bias towards them in any regard, except F1. So what I say isn't out of a worship for Lamborghini or dislike for Ferrari, but what the hell are you talking about? Trash? Lambo? $380k is Ferrari territory? They may all go very fast but they're all very different machines, and when I get the money knocking about to be able to afford them I will buy them all. You'd have to be mad to consider a car like that trash, or trying to muscle in on another established car price range group. As mad as a brush.

It doesn't even matter if they all catch fire after 200 miles, it would only serve to be part of the experience. It's the craziness you pay for, not the ability to get from A to B quickly.
