I assume that would mean more tattoos. Well, that's just another crop of idiots that I would never hire at my small business. It's one thing for my customers to see unprofessional behavior in the form of regular tattoos. I shudder to imagine the types of inbred yokels and ghetto types that would do their own tattoos. Probably a bunch of ex-cons.

The tattoo in the article has one of the worst tattoos I've seen - classic :)

And ZOMG! 1.68 million hits for tattoo starter kit (even though I get 2.55 million for some reason). Daily Mail, how we love your fear-mongering brand of cancerous journalism.

The urge to mark yourself up pretty much permanently is a mystery to me..... All I see the recent upsurge in this activity as is a sign of the declining intelligence of society.

A co-worker of mine had her eyebrows removed and tattooed back on. Only problem; one of them was tattooed poorly and now stabs upward into her forehead.

So now she shaves her eyebrows, covers the tattoos, then draws them back on with a sharpie. Oh the tangled web we weave...

I don't get the DIY distinction from tattoo equipment that has always been available.

Her horrified mother, Renee, said: 'The tattooist has branded a child as a piece of meat for the rest of her life.

And your cumdumpster sweet and innocent little girl went out and paid someone to brand her.

Congrats mom. Thankfully you can blame the tattoo "artist" to deflect any blame off yourself for this 'horror.'

Anyone care to explain what the "Welsh Lamb" means?

Is that like "100% American sweetie"?

As kids we would scratch anarchy signs, inititals, whatever was "cool" at the moment into our skin with xacto knives and grind ink into it. When your mom saw it, you just scratched it back out as good as possible.

20 years later and I still have some ghost images of stuff that looks like I got in cell block K ("K" for Kindergarten)

Sounds like a whole lotta right to me. Just think about it - now all the idiots will be easily identifiable by their markings.

CSB time.

My friend has a cousin in Ft Meyers that owns a tattoo shop. He had a potential customer walk in to discus getting ink. He proudly lifted his shirt to show off his jailhouse tat. It was supposed to read "Scarred for life" in Gothic letters, but the artist misspelled it "SCARED FOR LIFE" (that may have been intentional, who knows..)

Anyway, the artist burst out laughing. The customer gets pretty pissed, because he thought he was being laughed at for being a felon.

The Artist had to bust out a dictionary to prove the spelling error. The poor guy then got REALLY upset because he'd been walking around with "SCARED FOR LIFE" on his belly for several years.

The artist was able to fix the mistake and had a very loyal customer from then on.

Marketing. It's what differentiates a Slanket from a cardigan worn backwards.

I stopped reading after I noticed the image of David Beckham and his kid with a quote essentially questioning him as a good parent.

Nanny state douche. Looks like someone is jealous of the rich and famous soccer star.

When you get tattooed you don't suddenly start to speak one more language, or develope the ability to run faster, do you? All you did was to come away from the parlour with ink rubbed under your skin where it won't wash off. So what's "cool" and "awesome" about THAT?

I can't stand the current tattoo trend. People are trying to get their own look, but how will they look 20-40 years from now? I've also noticed a lot of women get the same tattoo, such as a butterfly rose or heart. Instead of looking different they're looking alike.

People who get tattoos are fascists. They are narrow-minded and are usually homosexual. Most people who have tattoos are racist as well. The idea of the tattoo is to make a statement, a statement that says: I belong to a certain group and I don't like those who are different.

Great! This combined with the "pants-on-the-ground" fad makes it extremely easy to pick out the mouth-breathing idiots in society.

in 20-40 years people will look 20-40 years older.

not having a tattoo isnt going to make you a sexy old person.

old people are old and unattractive anyway.

oh wait, tht was a troll....lol. nevermind.

The girl I babysit always insists on giving us matching temporary butterfly, shooting star, and rainbow unicorn tattoos.

They aren't THAT temporary though, which I always forget until I'm at the gym sweating it out and notice people smirking at me.

So, these are available for sale on the internet.

So, you would likely need a credit card to buy one.

So, you would likely be an adult.

So, this article is utter BS.

No idea if you're a guy or a gal, but I'll point out that haters are going to hate, and being wrapped around a little girl's finger isn't necessarily a bad thing at all.

I'd just smirk back.

I have a tat of Pink Floyd's prism from Dark Side of the Moon on my shoulder. I'll never do this, but have thought of getting a bunch of math and physics equations tatoo'd on my arm for work.

The only tat I've ever seen that I didn't think was totally stupid was Craig Ferguson's "Join or Die" snake on his forearm. I like the historical reference, and the artist was very good.

I think it's a great idea. Lets people know "Hey, I make poor life choices"
i.dailymail.co.uk

of course I have 4 tattoos...

Tattoos are a personal choice. Get them or don't. Sure there's always some bad decision that the rest of us can clearly see looking in from the outside, but if that terrible looking tat that someone has makes them happy, who are you to judge?

As for the increase in people getting them, I doubt it's a reduction in the intelligence of the general populace. I'd say it's more along the lines of society in general become more liberal in its views and tattoos no longer existing solely in the domain of perceived scumbags.

CSB moment I know, but I just got a second tattoo this weekend just about 20 years after I got my first. I'm quite pleased with the new one and yeah, it probably won't look as spectacular when I'm 90, but both of them are on my upper arms/shoulders where they are going to look decent far longer than say my torso and are easily hidden from narrow minded folk.

There always will be some place of employment that would immediately turn you away if they knew you had a tattoo, but there's a pretty simple solution; don't work there. If they're that uptight about tattoos, it'll likely be a corporate nightmare of a job anyway. Likely the same kind of place that won't give your cv a second glance if you don't have a degree or certifications up the wazoo. Some of the most talented sysadmins I've worked with have looked like utter criminals, but I'd hire them in a second over some clean cut farkwit with an unrelated degree or meaningless certifications with little practical experience.

Short of it is, carve your own path through life and screw what the people so unhappy with their own lives that they have to tell you how to live yours have to say. We all get one shot at this folks and I'll be farked if I'll listen to what anyone has to say about how I should live it or look. So far, life's worked out just fine for me, tattoos and all.

/end of pontification

although not randomly, but never understood why they couldnt invent something censored like this to ink a human? certain pre-measurements censored and then it would ink you based on a submitted imagery. like those fancy custom card machines in stores. probably could be more accurate and realistic than human. you would then only have your tattoo shop artists submitting drawn artwork on flat paper to the machine and then it would do the rest. so it wouldnt be putting "artists" out of work, only advancing the quality of artwork in the field.

and of course you would still have freelancers that show up to the biker shows to give hammered men and women regrets on the choice in tattoo.
