I just watched Dirty Rotten Scoundrels the other day.

The movie is just as funny as I remember it being the first time I saw it.

LOVE that movie.

Examples such as this link remind me of why Steve Martin is so great and helps me to forget The Pink Panther (2006).

Steve Martin stealing Little Shop of Horrors from virtually everyone else in the movie.

Please tell me you have read "Born Standing Up" three or four times. Because if not? GO TO THERE. And by "there" I mean "anywhere you can find that book." Now. It is the ROADHOUSE of autobiographies.

Steve Martin isn't funny, and hasn't been since 1979. He's been playing the same unfunny "The Jerk" character ever since. We get it, you're wacky over the top guy..

If I keep up with my banjo lessons, I hope to one day be half as good as he is, because I am not very ambitious.

That I have, actually, and not too long ago!

I thought it was a rather interesting look at the nature of comedy itself (such as how he developed and engaged in what Rick Moranis called "anti-comedy").

That's a recommended read for all here, by the bye. Atticus is RIGHT on the money.

Agreed. But let's face it, Sgt. Bilko didn't help his case, either.

I can see his wanting to pay tribute to and follow in the steps
of some of his comedy heroes, Sellers and Silvers here, but damn,
that was some seriously professional-grade unfunny dreck.

And he had to have known it. The man knows funny, and that stuff simply wasn't.

the letter I got said "My dear family, guess what. Today I found out what my special purpose is for. Gosh what a great time I had. I wish my whole family could have been here with me. Maybe some other time as I intend to do this a lot. Every chance I get. I think next week I'll be able to send some more money as I may have extra work. My friend Patty promised me a blow job. Your loving son, Navin."

And he's got the kisses here.

You have to admire a film that takes one of the most quintessentially British albums of all time and reconoiters a story around it that's not only set in the American Heartland, but is presented as a celebration of all things American.

fark yeah.

I think Steve Martin is s comic genius, but he needs to make with the good movies again. I hope someone can figure out a good version of "Pleasure of my company." It's a fine read.
