Why are they comparing it with Iron Man? The guy didn't need a suit according to the trailer.

2011-03-26 02:09:24 AM
Hmm... Subby's definition of awesome is quite different than mine.

Meh....I'll hold out for the Bollywood version of The Punisher: War Zone . Now THAT will be interesting.

Ironically, the special effects team was hired from Hollywood. Or so I read....

That thing with the kittens in the side bar is cute enough to metabolize your blood into pure cane sugar.

The lack of singing and dancing saddens me.

2011-03-26 04:09:01 AM
Not clear on why anyone thinks that's a version of Iron Man in particular, but it looks like good cheesy Bollywood fun. A good popcorn-thrower.

2011-03-26 04:20:31 AM
I love Shah Rukh Khan movies, if some sort of subtitled version shows up in the US or on torrent sites, I'll definitely watch.

Yes. I want to see an Indian actor do a horrible caricature of a Brooklyn accent with his own accent stacked on top.

/the accents in that movie were god awful.

Enough of this holiday exploitation. Put Ram back in Diwali!

Now if only we can see an Indian Iron Man/Robot (new window) crossover.

/And how bad-ass would the requisite dance scene be?

I'll be impressed when they do a "Bollywood remake" of the Apu Trilogy.

FedExPope: /the accents in that movie were god awful.

They were all bearable and no worse than a lot of other movies.

Except one. Dominic West.

Ho-lee shiat was that horrific. I thought the guy was speaking like that sarcastically or as some joke at first. Then I realized that it was really the accent Dominic West decided to use.

The guy goes from playing Jimmy McNulty to that. Just....wow.

I find Bollywood remakes to be interesting in a "let's watch that train wreck" kind of way. They are so awfully retarded that it winds up being like a lot of those B horror flicks. So bad that it becomes watchable again.

2011-03-26 09:33:10 AM
I'd watch it if I got the chance.

2011-03-26 09:38:40 AM
That sucked.

2011-03-26 09:40:29 AM
From wiki: For Sikhs, Diwali is important because it celebrates the release from prison of the sixth guru, Guru Hargobind, who also rescued 52 Hindu kings held captive by Mughal Emperor with him in the Gwalior Fort in 1619.

That sounds like it would make a good movie.

Ok, now I'm going to have to go watch that awesome clip (new window starts at 2:13) with all the flying jeeps and the guy powersliding a horse again.

It's a start.

The problem is this.

Bollywood story structure is this: blah-blah-dance-blah-blah-dance.
Hollywood story structure is this: blah-blah-kaboom-blah-blah-kaboom.

Except the 'blah-blah' parts are being shaved into 'blah' parts as character is sacrificed for FX (Battle:LA, Avatar, Star Wars 1,2,3).

Bollywood already does this because, well, India's diversity makes the US look like North Dakota so you need a common denominator (not lowest common, damnit) and that's the parts where you don't speak.

So: it's a start.

2011-03-26 10:48:46 AM
Wow, Jeff Goldblum is kicking ass!

With the crap Hollywood is churning out I'm rooting for India to step up and give us some competition.

Thank you, and thanks Honest Bender.

Any Gawker Asset site I avoid like the plague, if only because of their shiatty webdesign, it take a solid minute to load. And no, I'm not going to speed up the loading process disabling ABP, NoScript or Ghostery.

2011-03-26 11:21:41 AM
I've heard about the horror of Gawker sites, this is my first forray. This one loaded in a second or two, and the clip played without a hitch for me, dunno. I'm still using FF 3.6, Ad blocker, Flash blocker, that's it.

The movie looks interesting at least. It can't be worse than any of the Shaky-cam kaboom! movies, or the Whatever:twilightening flicks out right now.

/is suckerpunched bad, really bad, or ok?

This is more like Terminator 2 than Iron man..
They filmed this last year in July

Went to two recalls for this, still have the script (lots of dialogue was lifted straight from T2)

2011-03-26 01:10:11 PM
The linked video looked lame, but the links on that page to the insane indian terminator movie looked awesome.

I just have a few questions.....

1- How does the sleek robot turn into a chubby indian middle aged guy with bad seventies hair?

2- When his fake skin is burned off why does he look like gary coleman?

3- Was the scene where he negotiates with the mosquito king really neccessary?

2011-03-26 01:41:28 PM
Edited so you can't see how crappy the special effects are.

Yeah, I you're right. It was just the two main villains, Dominic West's character and the actor that played his brother, Doug Hutchinson. I guess I keyed in on those two and blocked out the rest.

Bollywood puts out some fun stuff.
Some of the stuff they put out reminds me of Kung-Fu Hustle.
That was fun to see in the theaters.
I even own the DVD.

Bollywood sometimes does a decent job of remaking an American film.

For example, Denzel Washington's "Man On Fire" was remade into "Ek Ajnabee" was quite entertaining. Even with the required dance numbers and all.

Ok, I thought that was fairly awesome. But then, I like most of the el'cheapo horrible original SciFi movies that come out too, so take that as you will.

/but not Battle of Los Angles. Ugh.
//not subby
