2003-08-01 11:49:57 AM
Mr. T wouldn't think that's very cool....
2003-08-01 11:50:24 AM
Politcal Activism? Why is it when someone says political activism, they mean hard-left looney nutcases?

These anarchists need to get to Liberia, or Somalia, or Eastern Europe and get some experience with real-life anarchism.
2003-08-01 11:50:41 AM

Why vote for anarchists or Nazis when America has its own assclown party?
2003-08-01 11:50:57 AM
Are you sure???? ;)
2003-08-01 11:51:04 AM
Shaking your senator. Now that's a new one. Sure beats all the other wanking euphemisms out there.
2003-08-01 11:51:23 AM
I think we have "too many" political sites "linked" for a "Friday"
2003-08-01 11:52:03 AM

Friday's should be politics FREE!
2003-08-01 11:52:52 AM
I am going to have to be firm on this issue. You are wrong. The two ref system is good for hockey.
2003-08-01 11:52:58 AM
Wow, that link just Godwins itself, doesn't it?
2003-08-01 11:53:12 AM
I was laughing at the Nazi Party link, until I noticed their mailing address was about ten minutes from my house!!!

That'll sober ya up right quick!
2003-08-01 11:53:41 AM
Meh. I think I'll just spark up a doob.
2003-08-01 11:53:58 AM
I glossed over the page quickly...
Is it safe to read without a tinfoil hat?
2003-08-01 11:54:07 AM
If we ever get anarchy, I hope those teenage suburbanite anarchists get their computers stolen so they cry when they can't update their blog.
2003-08-01 11:54:21 AM
and weeeee!
2003-08-01 11:54:31 AM

2003-08-01 11:56:05 AM

2003-08-01 11:58:27 AM

2003-08-01 11:59:08 AM
...Its more of a love....handshake....

2003-08-01 12:00:06 PM

I've often wondered what a blog was too, but just never got around to asking. I think it's just a site where someone posts their ramblings.
2003-08-01 12:01:31 PM
Sorry m'lady, but a blog is kind of like a web based journal or log that people use to rant about their everyday lives for everyone else's amusement. Usually done by trite and boring teens wit nothing better to do, but occasionally you find the amusing one.
2003-08-01 12:02:58 PM
blog = web log take off the we
2003-08-01 12:03:30 PM
Thank you kind sirs for letting me know :)

"Anarchy means without government. It does not mean without order.
"This, Eve, is chaos."

- V.

(Yeah, it is probably not exactly correct)
2003-08-01 12:41:55 PM
"An anarchist world is a world based on equality, cooperation, direct democracy, autonomy, and of course dancin'!"

WTF? Direct Democracy is in itself Democracy (a form of government). And the "Dancin" part? I'm not even going there.
2003-08-01 12:46:30 PM
The asshat anarchists fighting in the Spanish Civil War would vote to decide if they would attack.

Predictably, they got the shiat kicked out of them.
2003-08-01 12:55:21 PM
Anarchy fails the moment some guy figures out he can kick your ass and take your stuff without any consequences. It's called Social Darwinism - government or no government, you can not escape evolution.

Your only hope is to be on the clever end of the humanity curve.
2003-08-01 01:01:45 PM
mcflizzy -- And then, people will band together for mutual protection and advantages, so sooner or later you get de facto governments -- if perhaps of a more local nature. Somalia, for instance, had (has? haven't been following lately) no significant central government, but different regions were under the de facto control of different warlords. Anarchy's a naturally unstable state given how advantageous it is for people to join forces, help each other, and take advantage of outsiders who don't work together...
2003-08-01 01:02:33 PM
heres just a plain old activism site address.

for those of you who are interested, this is a petition to raise the penalties for animal abuse. since people who abuse animals are more than likely to go on to abuse people.
now i wish i could find a petition to stop peta.......
2003-08-01 01:34:43 PM
You need to learn what anarchism is and what anarchists stand for before you can tell us to leave. We love freedom more than you do. We know that the State cant give you freedom, it can only take it away. You are born free. The State takes away freedoms.
2003-08-01 01:52:05 PM
If Libertarians would stop being so conservative, they could actually win something. They focus more on economics than social problems. Oh and it is to late to have Anarchy, so give up. It would be cool, when people can vote on the internet, if there was a govt.were only people could vote on every single thing. No senate, no president, and no house of reps. We would also vote on a guy to represent our country to other world leaders, like a voted in queen of England. He wouldn't have any powers. My 2 cents, I know it would never happen, but that would be true democracy.
2003-08-01 01:57:34 PM

What you describe would be truly mob rule. Mob rule is BAD.
2003-08-01 02:00:54 PM
Huskadoodle -- Yup. Throwing decision-making to the masses would usually be a /bad/ idea. Professional civil servants have the time and means (research staff, for instance) to better consider what the heck they're doing. That's one of the reasons why both legislative houses have committees which can focus their attention on specific fields.

"More political activism links than you can shake your senator at"

That sounds like a challenge to me!
2003-08-01 02:06:01 PM
From Alexander Tyler writing about the fall of the Athenian Republic.

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's great civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through the following sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith, from spiritual faith to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependency, from dependency back to bondage."
2003-08-01 02:21:47 PM
I'm not talking about anarchy and/or mob rule. there will still be police, a judicial system, and stuff like that. voting for stuff via internet doesn't sound bad to me. everyone votes on each law. i didn't say it wasgonna happen, or that peopel are smart enough(esp. where i live, texas).
2003-08-01 02:31:19 PM
I couldn't decide between the American Nazi Party and the Fannie Lou Hamer Project.
2003-08-01 03:18:41 PM
The American Nazi Party hasn't made a decent CD in years, though their "Unplugged" segment on MTV wasn't bad.
2003-08-01 05:14:30 PM
My senator is too stiff to shake. She sort of twoings like those springy door stops.
2003-08-01 07:17:14 PM
Ever notice that the same spineless leftist twerps advocating anarchy would be the first to be killed under that system?
2003-08-01 10:52:14 PM
Well, I agree that anarchy would have bad consequences. But, those consequences arise only when one person desires what another person has.

Eventually, given enough research, "replicators" like those on Star Trek should be possible that can build any object atom-by-atom. Make one, have it make more replicators, and kiss inequality goodbye.

Then, you could possibly have a working anarchy.

So, get your dumb monkey asses out there and learn some friggin' SCIENCE, people. Learn about the friggin' universe so you can use it to all of our advantage, and thereby your own advantage.

Take the long view, and not the short view like all our ancestors have done thus far and thereby screwed us with their BS.
