Cracked just featured Ne Win in one of their list of unbelievably insane dictators. The dude was absolutely off the rails.

In any case, official US and other foreign government policies still refers to the country as "Burma" to protest the legitimacy of the ruling Junta.

1989? Well, I was still pissing myself as of 2009, but I was REALLY drunk that day and already in the toilet.

But the point is I've never really heard of Burma. It's always been Myrnmar.

As far as formulation of opinions is concerned, it seems to me like most farkers were born in the mid-90's.

There is literally nothing for 100's of miles near where this happened.

I also enjoyed the CBC sidebar on earthquakes in Canada from 1988. Not because of the content, but mostly because of the wardrobes and cop staches.

Hey CBC, you can probably revisit the topic in the next few years, just in time for this piece's silver anniversary.

Also: Does Bill Cameron never age?

The effects could be felt as far away as the Thai capital of Bangkok, where buildings swayed.

I'm not saying subby didn't do a good job, but this headline's been done before. Just like the playing in A minor ones. Still, good work on this one.

doglover: What's a Burma?

Come on. It's still referred to as Burma half the time, anyway. Many refuse to call it Myanmar for a reason. To claim you've never even heard of Burma shows you're either being obtuse or ignorant entirely.
