"Kitty kitty bang bang: Many weapon brands now offer 'female-friendly' ranges"

I see. I was unaware making a female-focused product simply meant vomiting-the-most-egregious-shades-of-pink on it and hot gluing on some rhinestones. I'll make a note.

Setting a trend: Angelina Jolie bought real versions of the props she wielded as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider

Wait, she bought real tits?

I'm confused.

The only problem I have with this is that anyone vapid enough to want a gun as a fashion accessory is probably not going to handle/store it safely, and a child would be very likely to think that it's a toy.

What about a spatula?

But we can't put a picture of a cartoon camel on a pack of cigarettes?? At least the camel was created for the cigarettes, not hijacking something already being legitimately marketed to kids.

Personally? I think it's on the tacky side.

MUCH prefer the Sig P238 Lady. No reason not to level the playing field with style and elegance... ;-}

How about just a regular S&W revolver?

Yep, that's your classic male-run marketing group, trying to target women. "Make it smaller, make it pinker, and then wait for that sweet, sweet cash to roll on in, boys."

I personally find it condescending, though the Hello Kitty gun gets a pass. They license out more products than NASCAR. The gun only makes sense.

Call me crazy, but I see the advantage of a pink handgun. If a mugger wants the wallet out of a purse he might put 2 and 2 together fairly quickly that the stainless steel/flat black item being pulled of a purse out is not a wallet.

from my experiences, someone who open carries doesn't give a shiat about fashion, either.

I tried to do that with my junk, but the rhinestones kept falling off mid thrust. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Man, getting shot by that would be the most humiliating way to die. It would be like getting stabbed in the eye with a tampon.

Yeah, no. If I'm going to be toting around something I could conceivably be called upon to kill or grievously injure someone with, the last thing I want to see when I pull it out and deal with that grave moment in time is farking Hello Kitty.

/Don't mind her on pens and hairclips, though.
//Don't mind pink guns either--in anime.

Making it smaller is pretty important in marketing guns to women. Making it look nice might be (haven't done the research) but those specific guns are pretty tacky. But if you look TFA is being very disingenuous, they clearly just found the most ridiculous looking guns from a SINGLE gun customizer (not manufacturer) website.

Look at their site (new window) and tell me if you think they're on the same level as Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer ect.

The phrase we use in retail is "shrink it and pink it."

I doubt any of the Hello Kitty firearms (and there's a lot of them floating around) are officially licensed products.

As long as they're doing them in custom colors, how about an orange one. Not the whole gun though, that would be too gaudy... maybe just the tip or something?

Let's think about that for a minute. Lady goes for gun out of purse. Mugger experiences delayed reaction due to incomprehension, then incredulity, just enough to let her get off a shot or two. If it looks cute, this can only add to the incomprehension/ incredulity factor.

I always found the Lady Smith an amusing woman's weapon considering it has an incredible recoil. As for the featured piece, I'll stick to the two-tone P226.
