i'm sure they'll handle it maturely and responsibly.

2001-10-19 02:31:26 PM
I hope Fark.com isn't a potential target, since we are such a good outlet for the news

2001-10-19 02:32:27 PM
Why don't we just get an anthrax tag.

2001-10-19 02:33:06 PM
The publisher's statement said the victim was "already regarded as cured," according to WNYW.

So why report it? Let's move on from this anthrax thing for chrissakes.

2001-10-19 02:35:03 PM
What? Amtrak is at the NY Coast?

2001-10-19 02:35:12 PM
I didn't know anthrax was touring New York again.
Man I hope they play at CBGB's

2001-10-19 02:38:35 PM
um..why bother? the nypost has all the credibility of a cocker spaniel.

2001-10-19 02:41:45 PM
Well they're owned by Fox, so I guess Fox got hit afterall.

2001-10-19 02:41:48 PM
And the Enquirer is more credible?

Liz
2001-10-19 02:43:10 PM
Fox News is in the same building, so maybe that was the target.

2001-10-19 02:46:09 PM
Actually i would argue that the enquirer does have more value. credibility is equally lacking, but the enquirer at least has amusement value. the post on the other hand contained a column calling for the nuclear annihalation of afghanistan.

2001-10-19 02:49:38 PM
If I was CNN, I'd be starting to get pissed I was getting passed over in favor of the NY Post and Enquirer.

"Mommy, the terrorists won't attack us!"

2001-10-19 02:51:27 PM
Somewhere there's a joke involving anthrax and having a "nose for news," but I'm too busy to find it.

2001-10-19 02:57:07 PM

I Just posted this about 4 Minutes Ago, Damn You Drew and Your Lawn Gnomes!!!

2001-10-19 03:06:29 PM
I work in radio, and we are being pummeled with 'What not to do' memos from upper mgmt. Seriously hoping they don't target radio stations. Most of my friends are radio peeps.

2001-10-19 03:08:17 PM
How the hell did the Washington Post scoop the NY Post on their own employee's anthrax story???

2001-10-19 03:13:03 PM
I don't see why everyone is scared. Only one person has been killed and he was 70-somthing. We have the antibiotics to cure it so everyone just calm down. If I see one more person on the news living in some backwater hick town worried that they may be a target I'm going to scream.

2001-10-19 03:23:57 PM
Anthrax is for pussies. Real terrorists use nukes.

*yawn*

Boring story but it illustrates an interesting point. So far we have seen planes crashing, falling buildings, anthrax arriving in the mail and all these things happened in an Urban area. I live in the sticks and when you stick your head outside my window you hear crickets chirping. Country folk, unsophisticated morons or savvy survivalist, you decide.

2001-10-19 03:50:22 PM
Well, at least Hustler hasn't been hit by anthrax.

2001-10-19 04:04:07 PM
Cool, Anthrax is getting popular again.

"Disease! Disease! Spreading the disease."

2001-10-19 04:19:18 PM
Gee,

I wonder how long it will be before people start sending envelopes full of detergent to collection agencies and bill collectors

That wasn't inflammatory, was it?

2001-10-19 04:21:55 PM
I second the Anthrax tag, some how this post didn't deserve the tag.

2001-10-19 04:22:19 PM
the News Flash tag...

2001-10-19 04:23:40 PM
CNN is the only one left.
CNNspiracy if you ask me.

the tag should be the old logo from the metal band..

2001-10-19 05:09:25 PM
Sounds more and more like a bunch of radical right-wing farkers to me more than anything. Look at who has been targetted : "Liberal" reporting/new sources, Senator Tom Daschle. And in a related note Planned Parenthood/Abortion clinics in 16 states have received more than 100 "letters" that have contained Anthrax since 1998.

2001-10-19 05:12:18 PM
Anthrax is at the New York Post..Doo dah! Doo Dah!

2001-10-19 05:15:51 PM
Apparently someone out there hates crappy journalism. Now this is something we all can rally around.

NEWSFLASH: NewsRadio gets a dose of Anthrax!

http://www.tvtome.com/servlets/PersonDetail/personid-35739

(I just posted 3 times in a row! Hat-trick!)

2001-10-19 06:24:15 PM
If NY Post columnist Phil Mushnick got anthrax, he'd probably blame it on Vince McMahon.

2001-10-19 07:29:58 PM
A Brazilian news website says that the office of The New York Times in Rio de Janeiro received a letter that is infected with bacteria 'compatible with anthrax' (there wasn't enough time to complete full tests). The letter was sent from the USA on October 4th.

Unfortunately the article is in portuguese, so I can't submit it to Fark main page. Here's the link anyway: http://globonews.globo.com/GloboNews/article/0,6993,A139395-915,00.html

Angel Two-Six: I think the bankruptcy notices they got from us ticked 'em off pretty effectively. :)

And no we're not deadbeats. Take it from that woman's license plates, SHTHPNS. :) Just happened to us 'cause I needed foot surgery, that's all.

heres your damn band tag...

2001-10-19 10:20:45 PM
How much are tickets?

2001-10-19 11:12:46 PM
Why don't we just get an anthrax tag.
shiat, that makes sense...

Anyway, here's what I am wondering about - the Anthrax is 'weapons grade' - difficult to produce, skill resources required, etc. So whoever's behind this knows what they are doing, but they chose an inherently flawed method of delivery and a relatively 'benign' bio agent (if you can get weapons grade anthrax, you can get ebola - and, well, I don't need to spell it out).

I would say this whole thing is about scare tactics, not actually killing people.
