without reading tfa, I have to guess either White Castle or Taco Bell.

That's still not really news if you've ever been in line at Jack in the Box in a college town at 2am.

One time I saw vomit come out of three windows simultaneously... fortunately the one window that didn't have purple vomit spraying out was the driver's window. I've seen a girl pop a squat in the drive-thru line. One time I witnessed a person simply get out of their car and leave it in line, no clue where he went. Once I gave up on trying to get food, pulled out of the line, and drove next to the car in the window to see what was taking so long, and inside was a (I swear) totally naked woman being propped up by a case of Bud Light.

Whataguess!

in college we were driving to taco bell at about 1am stoned as all hell, and it took us almost half an hour of laughing and listening to music etc to realize the guy in front of us had passed out and was stopped just behind the menu.

my buddy got out, walked up, shook the guy violently and smacked him. the guy snapped awake, freaked out, and peeled out almost crashing into the wall.

we didn't call the cops though.

I imagine 95% of the weird shiat that happens in drive-thru lines doesn't get reported. I've seen so many obviously hammered people that had no business walking, let alone driving that I wonder how many times the yellow pole that keeps cars from plowing into the window has saved the day.

Sounds like good ol' Texas. Those Jack in the Box lines are insane at 2:30 AM on the weekends. I've seen many things that can't be unseen.

In all fairness, Whataburger can be pretty slow sometimes.

I feel like I've missed out by not going to fast food places late at night often. I've never passed out nor seen someone else passed out in a drive thru lane.

I did this once back in the day. Thank you to the nice man who woke me up and didn't call the cops. I learned my lesson, I think. That lesson is to always do a line of coke before driving drunk.

I'm friends with a local judge who says every week at least one person falls asleep in Taco Bell drive thru.

But well worth the wait.

You want to see slow, go to Texas Burger. I've never seen one outside of Texas or in a big city.

Those small town folks have no concept that I've got places to go, people to meet and small towns to get the hell out of.

Their burgers are pretty damn good too though.

Me neither, but I used to live right across the street from a Taco Bell. During the day I would walk over there, but late at night you have to have a car to go through the drive-thru so I would drive totally wasted the 1/8th mile or so get my order and go home.

It was actually farther to drive out of that apartment complex than it was from the apt. complex entrance to the drive-thru. More than twice as far if I could have just walked.

2011-03-18 05:24:09 PM
Driving around with a friend one time and he wanted me to go through the McD's drive-thru. I didn't want to deal with ordering so I went through in reverse so he could order/pay/grab food. The employees got a real kick out of it.

Not cool, but a story.

This never would have happened if pot were legal. Instead of passing out and being a burden to the world, he could have stimulated the economy by purchasing large amounts of food for his munchies, thereby employing the fast food workers, the food manufacturers, and the farms that supply them.

Pretty common scenario. I've handled at least 3 DWI's in the last year with this same basic fact pattern. A police sub-station is right across the street. You'd think people would go elsewhere.

The Jack In The Box near the college town I was referring to earlier is right next to the jail. It's convenient, at least.

The only 24 hour place in my neighborhood is a Jack in the Box with the same policy. I just settle for eating whatever I happen to have in the cabinet. A few weeks ago after I got home from a night out drinking and went the farkitall route and ate a can of green beans.

Anyone else catch this beauty?

"Corpus Christi Police Department spokeswoman Julia Hernandez says when officers arrived at the Whataburger restaurant, Justin Williams, 19, was sound asleep in the drive through lane"

...

"She (Hernandez) didn't know whether Hernandez(!?!?!!) was trying to order a burger and fries at the restaurant, or if he just saw the drive through lane as a convenient place to pull off the road."

At the Jack in the Box closest to my house, the late night drive-thru there is a pretty even split between "weekend revelers" and "lonely creepy guys taking a break from their 10 hour tv dinner and jack-off marathon".

/I'm not part of the latter

Or are you in the mob?

Back in the day, we had a local Jack in the Box that was a magnet for every decrepit indigent hobo in town. You had to hack through them with a machete to reach the drive thru at 3am. They would stand near the drive thru lane and puke on cars as they tired to go past if you didn't toss em a buck. We rigged up a power washer in the bed of a pick up once with a portable water tank and blew em away like chinese protestors in Tienemen Square. The cops on the night shift just watched and laughed. The Jack mgr bought us all munchies that night.

Good times.

Why did it take the people behind him in line so long to realize that there was no one in front of him and he wasn't moving?

2011-03-18 07:19:54 PM

RabaDat: I too have done this.

And I was the guy in front of you, watching in my rear view mirror as you nodded off and let your foot slip off the brake. Good thing that cement pole was there to keep you from rear ending me. I would have used my horn but figured you were just as likely to punch the gas upon waking up.

This happened to me night before last. Baby was awake crying, and we were hungry so we went to Jack in the Box around 2:30 AM. Spring break so not a lot of traffic here at the time, about 4 cars in the drive thru. After about 20 minutes of waiting and being wedged in between 2 cars, we realize the guy who's been at the speaker for 20 minutes is passed out in his car. Fortunately the car behind him was a hungry cop. He chirped his siren for a second, talked the guy into parking his car, ordered his own food and left... we were quite surprised. A Bacon Potato Cheddar Wedge Happy ending for all!

I was stoned and kinda drunk and passed out at an intersection once. Guy walked up and woke me up, asked if I was ok. I just got the hell out of there.

Was going to Taco Bell at 2am, and two cars were trying to get in the lane from opposite directions at once. Neither would give in, after a few honks back and forth. Both get out of their cars, both full of drunk girls. Seconds later, everyone got out of their cars in the drive thru and a huge melee broke out. I got the hell out of there!
