Ok the world is coming to an end. I'm in complete agreement with both Obama and Biden?!

Godspeed indeed.

In an hour, Fox will report outrage that Obama's not feverishly working on solving the Japanese nuclear radiation problem in his secret underground lab.

Obama goes: Publicity stunt!

Obama doesn't go: Why won't he honor the troops?

Catch-22 politics is so fun!

Most fun I've had all day, my head is still spinning.

Quasar: In an hour, Fox will report outrage that Obama's not feverishly working on solving the Japanese nuclear radiation problem in his secret underground lab.

And that he's using the death of a soldier for photo ops and political gain.

And if he didn't go, he would have been shatting on every serviceman.

Oh wait, looks like cameroncrazy1984 already covered this.

I am assuming House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, was also there?

Awesome.

On a serious note, I am very saddened to see this ending of an era, and I am glad that our Commander-in-Chief was there to commemorate the passing of not just Frank Buckles, but an entire generation of soldiers who have gone on to their reward.

Honor our remaining WWII vets while we have them. Listen to their stories, and learn the lessons they have to teach. We won't have them much longer.

One of the things that's always perplexed me about the noise machine is that when he does something, it's excessive interference. When he does nothing, they cry that he isn't doing enough.

aaah the "good war". Obama wishes he could rebrand Afganistan.

Nice thing to do. Ultimately meaningless, but nice nonetheless.

I'm sure that Obama has people who know how to rearrange his busy schedule for a short trip of this type. Nothing critical will be missed/delayed.

John Boehner and Harry Reid should be cock punched

I'm sure Michelle Bachman will explain how the trip from DC to Arlington costs $80 BILLION and he took the entire US Air Force with him for security!

Notradamus has seen that the world will end when the last soldier of ww1 dies. this could be next year (2012).
I'm not superstitous but things are adding up. Anyway good luck to this guy and well done for the POTUS and VPOTUS for their actions today.

2011-03-15 07:35:27 PM
How is this a surprise? The President of the United States, no matter party affiliation, should honor the war dead. I am not surprised that President Obama was there.

"While Buckles received a special burial at Arlington, he did not lie in honor in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda -- a tribute his family and several of members of Congress sought as a final, formal tribute to all the veterans of World War I."

"Liberal Media" do your job, and specify in the article why his body did not lie in the rotunda. Boehner.

Some of the most valuable moments in my life were spent listening to a couple of WWII vets talking. It was farking fascinating. I listened so long that my legs fell asleep.

Sometimes younger generations are so jaded by our current military actions being sold as "freedom" that we forget what word really means. This was real, true fascism threatening to spread through the entire world, and not the imagined version I keep hearing from Brietbart and teabaggers.

So now we are honoring people for living a long life? My aunt died at 112 and was one of the few women that was a nurse and a doctor at the time. No one gave a crap when she died.

No, see, it's the word 'add' that you must have missed. I couldn't have said it better, and so I chose not to use my own words. Words that you either didn't read, or conveniently left out of your response to me. RIF.

Republican politicians don't like talking about war heroes because it brings to light their own chicken hawk mentality. Here's a patriot who lied about his age to go to war. Meanwhile 90% of the GOP lies to stay away from war while sending others out to die.

public option: Veterans deserve no glory. We should all unite, hold hands and spit on their collective effort. As fark liberals, we must do everything in our power to give power to the poor and unemployed. It is our job and any body shirking from duty should have their food stamp ration reduced.

What part of "the last American veteran of World War I to die" don't you understand?

It's more symbolic than anything. The whole 'lest history repeats itself' thing. Not that it will prevent anything in the end...

So "adding" a whiny blurb is different than a whiny blurb because IT'S YOU.

Got it.

Do it with the cameras off and the press nowhere to be found, then I might consider this heroic.
