There is a possibility that this is the exact counter leaks BoA talked about releasing in order to discredit further leaks. I'm hoping not but this just seems very suspicious, why risk going with Anon and exposing yourself possibly?

The person who wrote to them has messages included in the archive. Apparently they feel BofA destroyed their life, so this is their revenge.

I it gets much more interesting. The first released email was kind of boring...

Wikileaks was all "Ghadafi's got 80 Ferrari's, sexy blond escort nurses and virgin Amazonian bodyguards" while Anonymous was all "evidence of breach of contract is evident in the neglect of fiduciary responsibility found in column 3B."

2011-03-14 04:34:02 PM
Ah, I forgot that this was supposed to be released today. A little reading for after work.

2011-03-14 04:34:07 PM
NO. WAY.

SRSLY?

2011-03-14 04:34:26 PM
Apparently the leaker provided enough evidence of their employment etc. that anonymous felt it was legit.

The emails are really pretty damning even though it is just a small example. It shows people knowingly deleted records in order to force insanely expensive insurance policies from their sister company into loans.

If you have accounts or loans with B of A it would be a really good idea to move them asap. There is supposedly more to come. The bank doesn't pay its taxes, and there is a long track record of crazy abuse of customers all over the internet.

They were foreclosing on homes that didn't even have mortgages and never had one with B of A previously. Now this news. Move your money.

We need to take a page out of the conservatives handbook and just run with it as if they are real anyways if that's the case. I wouldn't put it past the BofA to Dan Rather someone as HBGary and Scott Walker were both actively talking about it, it's right out of the Republican playbook.

What timing, with everything going on in Japan and the middle east, this story will be a non event. No one will go to jail, won't collect $200. The main stream media will sweep this to page 12 of the local section of your newspaper. Too big to fail!

That's cool... with the dearth of well-paying IT jobs, they'll have more ambitious and disenchanted techies ready to take their place.

I'm closing my bofa account tomorrow, so I'm getting a kick, etc.

Not because of this, by the way. Rather, because they're insufferably slimy and I'm sick of their bullshiat antics.

However, the coincidence is amusing.

what kind of recourse would you even have if they swooped in and took your house through forged paperwork and other such underhanded tricks?

I do.

This could be a fake release, meant to cast doubt and possibly goad the authorities into trying to take out the motley crew known as Anonymous.

This could be real, in which case BoA will suffer, and there still might be some goading into trying to take out Anonymous.

We could have a situation where BoA may now be subject to a run on their banks.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer evil corporation.

I figure since the banks have people in high places of power within the government, it's just going to take a few words from Bernake or Geitner, or one of their many lackeys, to get law enforcement busting their asses on Anonymous as a threat to national (financial) security.

Oh, and there is a futility to trying to take out an amorphous group like them, as there is no leader, but any hacker or leaker they catch will be posted like they are some evil mastermind.

CitizenTed: Move your money, people

But how do you move your mortgage?
/without paying all the refinancing costs that is...

2011-03-14 04:47:35 PM
I nearly refinanced with Bank of America last month so I'm getting a kick (cringing actually to tell the truth). I moved TO BOA because BB&T was taking two weeks to deposit my paycheck.

Ok so BB&T are assholes, BOA are flat out evil. WTF am I supposed to trust to get this high fixed-rate mortgage down?

2011-03-14 04:47:35 PM
Forced placed insurance is about 4 to 6 times higher premium amount coverage only put on a mortgage acct after about 90 days in lapse of proof of coverage on an account. The customer usually receives 4 to 5 letters asking for proof to be sent in before coverage is placed. It's costs are so high because its sight unseen coverage, the property is not inspected before it's put on. Even after it is placed it can be removed once evidence of existing coverage is received.

My home loan is with BofA. It wasn't originally, but they took it over when Taylor, Bean & Whitaker went bye bye.

I'm trying to remember now if it was my loan with BofA or my rental property with Wells Fargo, but I've actually received a notice regarding my bank buying home owners insurance for me when their records showed that I was uninsured. It was a clerical error that happened when I switched insurance companies, so I was able to send them proof of insurance and put a stop to it. But as I recall, the amount they were going to charge me for insurance was double or triple what I normally pay. It was a total rip-off.
