Well at least Charlie Brown finally found out if the curtains match the rug on that little red haired girl.

No doubt Peppermint Patty is pulling a Martina Navritilova on Marcie and Lucy is going S&M on Schroder.

I bet that dirty kid doesn't get any.

SO, let me get this straight - guy is asked to donate art to a charity auction that benefits a child abuse prevention organization, and decides to give them a series of cartoons called "Mapplethorpe Meets Charles Schulz"?

This guy is either a dumbass, or thought he was being funny. Either way, he deserves a smack upside the head.

Can someone explain to me why anyone would want this guy's sick stuff? Yes, I followed Ignom's thoughtfully provided link.

Why God. My most precious childhood memories.

/Wrong.

2003-07-29 12:55:50 PM
Ignom, thanks for the link. But My God! I thought I'd seen some sick stuff in my life, but that's just wrong.

2003-07-29 12:57:19 PM
Well, this way they'll stop bugging him for free crap every year. ^_^

2003-07-29 12:57:31 PM
YOu know, at least Mapplethorps photo's were clean, well laid out, and visually stunning even considering the content.

This stuff is more like "Shultz meets a Bankok whore house"

You know, the whole "Peppermint Patty is a lesbian" thing doesn't actually make a whole lot of sense -- if you go back and read, Peppermint Patty is actually hopelessly in love with Charlie Brown, and actually so is Marcie... the closest either one of them will ever get to being lesbians is if they get into a fight over him and wind up in a threesome...

As for the pictures at issue... lame. Very lame. Whatever the Penny Arcade crew had going with "American McGee's Strawberry Shortcake" is completely missing here.

2003-07-29 12:57:42 PM
omfg that was awesome! go kevin!

2003-07-29 12:57:56 PM
You're Well-Endowed, Charlie Brown

2003-07-29 12:58:22 PM
Pretentious crap or lame attempt at humor?

You decide

2003-07-29 12:59:24 PM
How old is this artist? When I was in elementary school, boys used to add huge weiners and boobies to the "Peanuts" books in the library. It was childish then, it's childish now. Completely inappropriate, and I hope the Schultz estate sues for copyright infringement.

The one with a haggard Lucy sitting at a table with a cigarette hanging out of her mouth is kind of funny, however.

2003-07-29 01:00:30 PM
You know, I must have missed Mapplethorp's 'fisting' series...this guy is no Mapplethorp.

2003-07-29 01:00:30 PM
Pretentious crap.

2003-07-29 01:00:54 PM
Hmmm....yep. That's disgusting.

2003-07-29 01:01:02 PM
Uhm...I am big into the art scene and I've defended the elephant-poop guy and the Jesus-as-a-woman guy, but there are some things you JUST DON'T fark WITH!!

I always had a fantasy that Dagwood's wife Blondie was having an affair with Prince Valiant.

2003-07-29 01:02:18 PM
What was he on when he decided these were appropriate to submit at a charity auction for preventing child abuse?

Where's the one of Linus shoving the Great Pumpkin up his ass?

2003-07-29 01:03:57 PM
I've been waiting my whole life for these pictures.

ATTENTION HACK ARTISTS AND ASSOCIATED WANNABES!!!

We know you are reading this.
Please consider this important guideline:

Shock value =/= talent

That is all.

Wow, this is the first time the Peanuts characters ever made me laugh.

2003-07-29 01:07:10 PM
Mapplethorpe: Ok, what is your favorite baseball player?
Kid: Roger Clemens
Mapplethrope: Ok... Im gonna draw him pooping on you.

Erotic cartoons are lost on me. Howver, the episode of the Simpsons when Marge's boobie grew, I found that strangely arousing.

2003-07-29 01:08:20 PM
the kittens are safe for another day.

2003-07-29 01:08:24 PM
What scares me is, the peanut characters are underaged. Heck, I don't even think they ever hit their teens in the comics..and yet he's picturing them in pornographic positions and shiat...wtf?

What if these were hentai anime that the guy was trying to pass off as art? They'd arrest him for having pornographic pics of underaged tentacle pr0n.

2003-07-29 01:08:36 PM
Lame...

The thing that surprised me is that these pictures were ever accepted for the auction in the FIRST place! What were they (not) thinking?

That was a series of images I don't ever need to see again - very childish. And while I'm not a fan of some of Mapplethorpe's more "out there" stuff, it's definitely an insult to Mapplethorpe to even associate these drawings with his work.

2003-07-29 01:08:49 PM
Man, that ain't shiat. My buddies and I created a whole series of cartoons using Peanuts and a little white-out. The things we did would make that dude's renditions look like Ziggy.

a quote from our cartoon "The orb of un-creation has come to butt-fark your world out of exsistence!"

2003-07-29 01:09:11 PM
I've been waiting my whole life for these pictures.

Okay, that was funny.

Why didn't he just porn-o-lize those bottom-righthand comics? Apartment 3-G, Mary Worth, etc. They're practically soap operas now; it wouldn't take much to turn them into chick-style bodice-ripper porn.

Either way, the art was entirely wrong for the occasion. Like playing "Candle In the Wind" at Sid Vicious's funeral. Wrong.

2003-07-29 01:09:16 PM
wow...the filters are getting smarter.
Filtered out the ! in shiat.

2003-07-29 01:09:46 PM
Peanuts is in a long list of things that SHOULD NOT have their own hentai.

2003-07-29 01:10:03 PM
I do find these drawings amusing but presenting them at an event to benefit a childrens cause is innappropriate.

2003-07-29 01:11:08 PM
And while I'm not a fan of some of Mapplethorpe's more "out there" stuff, it's definitely an insult to Mapplethorpe to even associate these drawings with his work.

Yeah, Mapplethorpe's work showed actual, you know....oh, what's the word?

Oh yeah, talent.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahaaahaaahahaaaaaahaaaaaaaa-

*catches breath*

BWAAhaahaaahahahaaahahah haaaa aaa!!!!!!!

HOLY SHIAT!!

I'm a sicko from time to time and that was just freaking hilarious. Excuse me for letting my 7 year old alter ego out but I can't stop laughing. Jeez.

That's parody. Can't really call it art myself but then again I'm no critic.

He should have just donated them some pics of "The Dysfunctional Family Circus".

You think this is out there...He's got nothing on Jason Jungbluth. Jason's "Weapon Brown" comic book series envisions the "Peanuts" gang as players in a convoluted power struggle taking place in a post-apocalyptic techno-industrial society of Mad-Max-style proportions. It's not filthy, just well-done and hilarious. Check out some sample pages here:

It's not 'art' unless it's 'edgy'. You have to differentiate yourself from the crowd, and the easiest way to do that is simply to pick something offensive [pornography, feces] and incorporate that into your art. Hence, all great art is offensive, and the masses are turned off, and the art lovers can rest assured that only they 'get' the art and are safely above the rest of humanity.

Heck, if you can't feel better than all the other genetically similar humans due to your art purchases, what's the point of being an art lover?
