If you close one eye and squint real tight you can see God's nostril in that last pic...

Do you suppose that there could be a whole universe within the atomic space of my thumbnail?

Just think: There's probably someone on a planet somewhere in a stellar system in one of those galaxies thinking the same thing

TotalGalaxies lets you view all the galaxies not just the top 50 for 5 dollars a month.

Well, it's better than no pictures, which seems to be the trend lately. :(

Yup. SF Erotica--now, that's a narrow genre! For all you non SF fans out there, don't bother. As porn, this is very weak. As SF, it's decent, and it does contain stories by some of the masters (Ellison, Farmer, Niven).

My *favorite* "alien sex" story

I have seen porn. But I have yet to dream of venturing
into other galaxies. That would be cool though - to go to other galaxies (not to dream of them).

I have dreamt of porn, though.

I wonder how bible thumpers think about galaxies.

I mean if God created Earth in one day and the rest of the universe in 1 day, man was he ever lazy during the earth day.

Or like what a waste in creating all those galaxies for nothing if life only exists here...

Dream, then.

Somebody has to build the ships that sail among the stars. Who's to say it's not us?

We will get to the stars. By patience and planning and lots of sweat and time. Just like anything else we've accomplished. It won't be some farkin' aliens who come and hand it to us.

You'd better hope not. Ask any native person you know what they think of tehcnoligically advanced people who arrive in ships.

We've lost all motivation to go beyond Earth's orbit (no space race, no commercial value), so let's just look at the pretty pictures and dream of the three-breasted, green-skinned beauties that mock us from afar......

2003-07-28 07:28:07 PM
- I wonder how bible thumpers think about galaxies.

Well, this Bible believer immediately thinks how the "Darwin Delusioned" easily assume that all that beauty just came about from purposeless & random activity with no thought behind it. I don't know what the "thumpers" think.

- Or like what a waste in creating all those galaxies for nothing if life only exists here.

The purpose of the stars was to give light on the earth & separate day from night & show when years/seasons/days begin. They are yet another sign of the Creator's power and ingenuity and they bring Him joy; that's not purposeless, especially if they assist in getting someone to come to
Christ.

2003-07-28 08:41:50 PM
fakemacgyver--i'm with you. how beautiful are the works of God.

2003-07-28 11:46:57 PM
Only one star separates day from night around here, all the others are just filler I guess.

2003-07-29 12:27:28 AM

Bring light to the Earth ?

When a galaxy is ten billion light years away it's not exactly bright when its light gets here.

And don't get me started on the beauty of the works of God. If it was true that there was a creator, and I certainly hope it's not, then I'd like to give him a piece of my mind about the shoddy work he's been doing. This whole universe thing is clearly an early Alpha version, not fit for release on the market. If this is something a god made, it's a proof of concept, a demo -not a good one, either-. It's got you lot in it, the Firm Believers. Talking about how wonderful god really is. That makes this a marketing demo, which explains why the engineering stinks but the pictures look real nice.

If the stars are there to please god then that makes him a vain idiot, no ? Wasn't there something against vanity in the bible ? But that is for you clods who believe in that, not for the big man himself. Right. The beauty of the works of god... the duck-billed platypus. A mammal that lays eggs. What was he snorting when he came up with that one ?

- Bring light to the Earth? When a galaxy is ten billion light years away it's not exactly bright when its light gets here.

Oh c'mon. Yes, we know that; and yes, is should go without saying that I was referring to our star for giving the most light.

You actually hope that there isn't a creator? Well, I hope that you may be agnostic and are still searching for answers and help, which is good. Yet I can't see why you must criticize God and believers in Him.

- If the stars are there to please god then that makes him a vain idiot, no?

Surely not. They were another thing He proclaimed good at creation. It's not 'inflated pride' just to appreciate the result of something.

- The beauty of the works of god... the duck-billed platypus. A mammal that lays eggs. What was he snorting when he came up with that one ?

Beauty doesn't have to be related to outward appearance. What about symmetry and intricacies? Many impressive examples exist. Mankind is one of them.
