Dear South,
Please secede again. We promise we won't argue this time.

Sincerely,

I propose that we all petition to allow it so long as the currency is called the "Yokel" and they're not allowed to pin its value to the dollar.

While you're at it, why don't you raise armies and maintain navies to provide for the common defense of Tennesseans....then you can enter into treaties with foreign powers....

is meth a stable enough standard?

It will be, once Wal-Mart changes its current policy on certain over-the-counter medications.

I would think that teeth would be the most valuable currency in TN.

Also, Tennessee, the articles of confederation would like to have a word with you.

Guys, I hope you realize that if these states cecede, they'll be the Christian equivalent of fundie Afghanistan, except they'll be sharing borders with you...

I groaned when I read the headline, I facepalmed when I clicked the link and saw it was Ketron. He's also introduced a bill to make following "Shariah Law" illegal and an "All candidates for president must show proof of being born here" bill in the last two weeks.

If the Federal Reserve system and the dollar collapses, one probably will have more pressing issues than inventing a new currency.

You do realize that the military armaments of the South would not magically go away with secession right?

/yes I know we are not serious, but I try to be realistic with my scenarios

Actually, the Vols have their own Navy. Not that it would stand a chance against one WWI-era destroyer.

What's orange, three hundred feet long, and has a total of fourteen teeth?

This. People who want the "south to rise again" have no clue that the National Guard is not loyal to the Governor, but to the national command authority in times of insurrection. In addition, it's the Federal Goverment, not the State, that owns every bit of equipment in those national guard armories.

Hmm. A few rednecks with Deer Rifles vs an uparmored Humvee with a Ma Deuce on it.

"...Imagine you and me are setting across from each other. We create enough money to represent all of the world's wealth. Each one of us has one SUPER Dollar in front of him.
You own half of everything and so do I.
I'm the government though. I get bribed into creating a Central Bank.
You're not doing what I want you to be doing so I print up myself eight more SUPER Dollars to manipulate you with.
All of a sudden your SUPER Dollar only represents one tenth of the wealth of the world!
That isn't the only thing though. You need to get busy and get to work because YOU'VE BEEN STIFFED with the bill for the money I PRINTED UP to get YOU TO DO what I WANTED.
That to me represents what has been happening to the economy, and us, and why so many of our occupations just can't keep up with the fake money presses..."

I am so glad I left that state nearly 30 years ago; other than the scenery, everything else has gone to hell in a handbasket since we moved out.

This isn't the first unique proposal from Ketron this session. He has also backed controversial legislation aimed at addressing illegal immigration in Tennessee and at criminalizing the following of Shariah law.

Hey, as long as you're worried shiat that's never going to happen, maybe you should make some laws against Bigfoots becoming state senators, or Loch Ness Monsters being hired as public employees, and maybe a law to prevent monkeys from flying out of people's butts.

The biggest mistake Lincoln made was not saying, "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out," when the South wanted to secede.

Can we please stop green lighting EVERY article about tea party jackholes proposing yet another piece of nutbar, reactionary legislation?

Frankly, I don't think the South really wants Tennessee either. The place has always had its own special brand of crazy. And when you thought it couldn't get worse, meth showed up.

Yeah 50 plus currencies added to 50 plus sets of laws. You don't have to be a moron to vote or to get elected in jesusland but it certainly helps.

No, it isn't enough. It needs to be shouted loud and repeatedly until rational people rise up together and put a stop to their reactionary bigotry.

What a nice surprise to wake up to that which I love most about Fark. +1 for all the thread comments!!...my favorite is the swapping of "creeping sharia" stories for goods and services. Made my day :-)

TN is a bloody battleground of reason against derp. And derp is winning by a landslide.
