But maybe you haven't seen the larger plan to "bot" web comment boards and even Twitter and Facebook with computer-generated right wingers with sufficient back stories to make them seem real.

That can't possibly be true.

So he went from having his own prime time show on a pretty damn big cable network to a goofy blog? I think this dude needs better agents and handlers.

I think he's getting paid for the length of his contract, and is thus forbidden by the terms of the settlement to host a similar program.

I would like to see him use this to change how news is being reported and treated, in the days of 24hr news cycles and webnews/blogs. Someone like him cando alot, even with a blog. We shall see...

Yes, in the same way Conan "went" from The Tonight Show to doing stand up at colleges while his contract said he had to sit on the sidelines. So nice try.

Yeah, interesting isn't it.

Oh, there's the byline

Keith's smart. He's obviously talking to a lot of web savvy people on his direction. In today's age, you start news media empires with simple blogs, grow and cultivate a following and expand. You don't just start off with a website the way Tucker Carlson did. Thats why his failed and continues to fail.

Its like the way musicians start in the "underground", doing local shows, concerts and mixtapes. You get word of mouth going.

I'm sure he's going to be depending on sites like Fark to spread his gospel - this is just the kickoff.

Also, I'm pretty sure he now has a total % in truTV or whatever network he's going to be on so he ain't worried about $$.

I'm pretty surprised at how much I enjoyed reading that - KO always struck me as a blowhard on TV, (excluding his sports related work - loved that stuff) but I guess I'll add his twitter account to my feed and i might even give his next show a watch

They settled and there's a no-compete clause for a few months.

Plus he's already signed to Al Gore's channel. Current, I think.

One need only look at how ESPN was started to see crappy cable channel turn into media empire. Its possible Olbermann has this model in mind, start small but with fewer ownership issues they had with GE/NBC/Comcrap

"Comcrap" owns a percentage of Current TV.

Well it would be nice if I could tell my boss "Fark off" when I don't want to work, and still be paid for not working.

Then why does any company contractually agree to that?

Why do employees join union shops when there are non-union alternatives available? Why do managers join union shops, knowing that they will be bound by the company's contractual agreements?

Finally, and most importantly, why is it ok for a hundred people to band together as a company, make a widget and sell it for the highest price the market will bear, while it's not ok for a hundred people to band together as a company to provide labor for the highest price the market will bear?

this is what Kieth Olbermann actually believes. a clip from his post.

"You've seen the lengths to which the Corporatists/Tea Partiers will go to manipulate the media and pervert the coverage of the protests by pulling something straight out of the Mubarak playbook and shutting down internet sites. Maybe you've seen the scheme to actually infiltrate the Wisconsin protests with Tea Partiers pretending to be violent, hateful union members. But maybe you haven't seen the larger plan to "bot" web comment boards and even Twitter and Facebook with computer-generated right wingers with sufficient back stories to make them seem real."

Um, Walker admitted to the scheme to infiltrate the protests, but ultimately decided against it. Other Teabaggers proposed the same thing in emails. And we know the professional troll gag is real too. In fact...

Because the union gets in everywhere and locks out non-union workers. Labor is between a company and an employee. Unions are just legalized thuggery.

So after the NFL lockout will you try out for the Titans or hope the union guys come back?

When Toyota signs a contract for a brakes from Midwest Hydrolics, a contract exists between two companies.

Is that legalized thuggery? If not, why not? Bob who built dozens of those brakes has lost his ability to directly negotiate with Toyota for their sale because of that contract.

Why is a contract for labor between a city and it's police any different?
