11. Melt the franchise in a smelter and come up with something new, Hollywood.

How about just saying "No"?

The only way the terminator franchise can be saved is by sending a cyborg back in time to kill anyone who tries to direct Terminator 3.

Oddly enough, I'd pay to see that.

There you go people. Terminator 3 WAS going to be a lead for Sam Worthington and instead we got split screen time between him and Bale. The rewrites turned what could have been a farking awesome film into a piece of shiat.

Connor was supposed to die in the sub and Worthington's character would take his place as Connor because technically speaking... no one knew who he was.

There was never a third terminator movie starring Kristanna Loken and arnold. Just like they never made an Alien 3.

I'm just throwing this out there. How about a rule where the director of any "Terminator" movie must have at least one vowel in his name? And how about hiring actors instead of primadonnas who demand sweeping script changes and throw fits on set?

You know what's sad? When "Salvation" came out, a lot of neckbeards were insisting they could have made a better movie than that. And for once, I believed them.

The first film was a horror movie. A sci-fi horror, yes. But Schwarzenegger's antagonist was a cold-blooded serial killer akin to Michael Myers or Leatherface, remorseless, invincible, and utterly relentless.

I have always said this is the reason the first one is the only one worth watching. While T2 was good, it was an action film. The horror element and utter ruthlessness of the T-101 in the first film still has a strong element of suspense, believability, and most importantly - longevity. It's as scary today as it was then. I can't explain why, but I would even argue the early 80s special effects make it scarier than a CGI-heavy film would today.

Get George Lucas to direct it. He did a damn good job on episodes 1-3, and the new Indiana Jones.

Next Terminator movie should just have a bunch of the female terminators from 3 walking around naked the whole entire time. There you go, script written, hand me my bag of money.

Remake Terminator: Salvation using the script they had before Bale shiat on it. Do a good job, pretend the original never happened, and fans will see it.

Same theory holds for Alien/Aliens. The "sequels" each hold their own in terms of "holy shiat I wanna see that again", but they were departures from the originals in many ways. It's no surprise that the same guy directed both part 2s (while directing neither of the originals).

I was a huge fan of SCC but it almost lost me with its tranny episode. My biggest hope for any future movies is that Summer Glau is used as the terminator. She is beauty in motion

My biggest problem with Salvation was that the machines acted illogically. They had Kyle Reese in custody, and knew who he was. Instead of killing him immediately and winning the war before it happened, they opted to hold him as bait.

I'll probably get a lot of shiat for saying this, but the Predator reboot "Predators" wasn't nearly as bad as I was feared it was going to be.

Get that crew of writers on the Terminator series.

And it was quite obviously so.
It was like watching three different movies by three different writers/directors all spliced together.

Horrible, terribly written show.

The script often had the characters rush to get some place, and then give them absolutely nothing to do there, or explain why they had to get there. It was like they threw screenplay writing 101 out the window.

And growing a terminator in your tub? Are you joking?

The show was a train-wreck from the beginning, and it was the writing.

If they bring back Arnold, they should make him a human because he is so old now. Like it could be the story of him getting caught by robots and then they use his DNA to make the first Terminator. He couldn't pull off a robot now, though.

Tie it in with Short Circuit.

T3 was pretty decent, but the series ended with Judgement Day. End of story.

How about... oh, I dunno... getting some new ideas instead of just repeating the same old shiat?

Not that I'm saying the original Terminator movies are shiat, but seriously... does anyone remember when they used to make new movies instead of 'reboots' of old ones?

Ah, fark it. Just make it in 3d with big explosions. It'll make a killing.

What was wrong with Alien3? It was a perfect capstone to a completed trilogy, that thankfully has never been followed by some stupid cloning experiment gone awry. That would have been horrendously stupid.

James Cameron wrote and directed the original Terminator. Maybe you're thinking of Piranha 2?

The problem with Terminator movies is how much technology has changed since 1984. I mean the concept of Skynet in 1984 was super scary, but it was also something you could see beating since if you destroy the main skynet computer you basically win the war.

But now with wireless networks and smart phones it is not hard to see a time in the near future where pretty much every computer type device is connect to at least the internet wirelessly. That is what bugged me about Terminator Salvation. How do you destroy a self aware computer if it doesn't really have to be in a single physical location but can wirelessly be connected and basically be in 100 or 1000 computers at the same time? Unless you are willing and able to destroy every computer on the planet, you are kind of screwed.

Less risky to do reboots -- especially if it's of a movie with a proven pedigree. Profits are thin today on most movies -- after what they spend marketing, there's not much money left.

You make some interesting points Mr. Luke Holland but Jesus farking Christ, if you're going to do a blog please make sure you have the ability to write your way (at least halfway) out of a paper bag. The whole article is rife with spelling errors and gramatical mistakes that would make a 6th grader cringe. All you had to do was run the final draft through spellcheck and you'd have been fine, but you were too lazy even to do that.

I wanted a BSG/Terminator tie in. The last scene in BSG where they are digging in the shore, I wanted them to uncover a T800 skull.

They thought they had found a new home. All they found was a new war...BBBBWWWWHHHHHAAAAMMMMMMM
