3 posts and no long winded diatribe from some asshole who thinks s/he can text and drive just fine and the rest of us just suck at multitasking?

Must be too early, I'll check back in an hour.

It really pisses me off that some of you just don't get it. Most of you can't handle texting while driving but you assume everyone suffers the same limitation. Some of us actually drive better when we text. Now don't get me wrong, it takes just the right amount of texting, too much and we end up hitting a light pole or in the river. But there is a sweet spot where just enough gets me a little more relaxed and confident. At this point I am a little better driver than when I am not texting, and still a hell of a lot better driver than you.

/yeah I recycled it from the last texting thread
//I am refining it though

You see, if I ever get into a car wreck like this, I kinda want to be doing something stupid- texting, shaving, drunk, etc. Because then at least you'd have an excuse. Otherwise it's "What happened?". "Nothing, just a real shiatty, shiatty driver..."

Police talk and type on those computers in their car, often while using the radio and/or cell phone. Sometimes doing all this while driving at high speed.

HA-ha! What cerebral malformation causes people to not only think they're able to text while driving, but also believe it's a good idea at the time???

Hell, even Superman paused in a phone booth.

/OK, to change clothes, but still. He didn't do it on the fly. So to speak.

People that are involved in or cause an accident while texting or talking on a cell phone should face the same charges that someone who's tagged with a .20 BAC are.

I'd be fine with adding to that list people who're stuffing their face, knitting or whatever. Impaired driving should be uniformly sanctioned no matter the impairment.

I know it isn't a good idea...

The nice young lady who drove me around last week to do site surveys explained to me that her New Year's resolution was to give up texting and driving. As an intermediate step, she'd text only while stopped at a light. My presence in the car evidently facilitated this, since I could tell her when the light turned green, rather than horns of the cars behind us.

Android voice recognition texting ftw. Although editing all the screw ups from my accent might be even more dangerous...

I'm pretty sure "will be" and summonsed are not suppose to be used together.

yeah, that's what pisses me off too.

I have to make a resolution not to do something that will get me killed and could kill others.

Maryland made it a secondary offense, but still allows the "traffic light" reading.
Can't tell you how many times I pull up to a light, notice the person in front doing the "head down... head up.... head down" shiat.
Second the light is green I honk at them.

Another fun game is if you notice the person behind you at the light is doing the "texting head up down up down" thing... put your car in Park and release your brake.

See if you can win a free rear-ending and up their insurance plus get them fined for the secondary texting offense.

Just brace for impact :)

I really don't see what the big deal is. Stoplights? Please. I drive a stick with no power steering and I text while I drive!

That should give you a hint as to where I'm texting. Long sections of open road where absolutely nothing happens, with no appreciable traffic. On a road that's designed for 85 doing the 55 mph speed limit, or a road that's safe to do 60 in a 35 zone (again, doing somewhere around the speed limit). Or occasionally in the 2 mile backup that happens for the lights in Marshall's Creek. (US 209/US Bus 209/PA 402 junction)

In moving traffic? On 80? In Eastburg? Hells no!

It **SHOULD** be a secondary offense, as should speeding in rural areas.

So you have obviously not killed or injured anyone while driving, but...

How many hookers have you killed at this point?

uhm, thanks. I think.

Don't mind me too much, I've been getting 4 to 5 hours of sleep for the past 2 weeks, save one day last weekend when I got 9 hours.

Your comment was OK. Overly abrasive with the accusation of me being holier than thou which limits your score to a possible 5/10 regardless of other content, however, the insinuation that hookers are not people was rather touching in a serial-killer kind of way, so you're getting 5/10 on your comment, even with the harsh penalty.
