But let's not Dicker.

Habitual nonsense from politicians of both parties is not a conspiracy or collusion. Or even cooperation.

I disagree with the terrible schools part.

Have you ever been to a public school in the south?

Even the shiatiest schools in the North are better.

Well, it's obvious that you've never been to Vegas.

Remember kids, in partisan politics, it's only wrong when the other team does it!

Meh.

Just saw news last week that only 72% of students even in good schools in NY are considered college and/or career ready, and in certain demographics in certain cities readiness is in the single digits.

My kids' schools here are pretty good, and for what my neighbors and I pay in property taxes they damn well better be.

My son's kindergarten class (21 kids) has two teachers plus two aides, with no special-needs kids present that would ordinarily trigger a need for the extra personnel.

Which is mighty sweet personally, but is it the best allocation of resources? It's not like my son is getting a 300% better education with three extra people around the classroom. It's like hiring Nigella and Giada to be the lunch-ladies. (like that didn't trigger a fantasy in you)

New York politics were a disaster in 1776. Nothing's changed.

I love all the people bashing NY politics. It's bad here, but is it any better where you live?

THIS.

I had to reassure a friend of mine in Wisconsin that the batshiattery currently taking place in her state was what New Yorkers would call "just another Tuesday afternoon in Albany", and to call back when 13 of her elected officials had been either sent to prison or forced from office by scandal in just four years.
