I wonder if Finasteride/Propecia could be used as a preventative treatment since it blocks the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The report doesn't mention DHT inhibitors at all.

Fortunately for Loughner, his prostate will be 'checked' regularly.

It is, it isn't, it is again. GOD THESE PEOPLE ARE MAKING ME INSANE.

Or is it balding in the 20s that's making me insane?

God damn it! Ok, whose got the gloves and a flashlight. I guess I need to get checked.

"Hair brain" is NOT just an expression.

I don't think Jared Loughner is losing his hair, subby. I believe he merely shaved his head, and eyebrows.

I wonder what that crazy bastard is up to these days, haven't really heard anything about him in the last couple weeks...

/not losing my hair yet
//but if my family is any indication, I will soon enough

Who?

/If I haven't lost it by now I think I'm in the clear

I regularly massage my prostate with a combination of Absorbine Jr., and Rogaine, so I'm good.

No clue who that is.

jmr61: No clue who that is.

It's the helpful young chap who was willing to provide free trepanation services for a group of people that included Congress Woman Gabriel Giffords.

/going to hell

THERE! No more cancer OK!!!?

I thought the headline was funny when I thought it was about some actor I didn't know. Then I realized it was the guy who shot the congress woman...and now I find it not so funny.

Subby, couldn't you have thought of someone who is actually balding?

Picture is of Jared Loughner:

Quality post.

Judging by that very high forehead he was still balding in that older picture. He just compensated by growing the rest of his hair out very long.

Perhaps.

Me: started balding when I was twenty three.

My dad: very bald when I first remember him in his thirties.

His butthole: irradiated for prostate cancer treatment.

My butthole: Soon to feel the fickle finger of injustice.

Prince William would have been a better example, it's hard to tell if Jared is really balding since he shaved his head.

No. He's probably going to end up a resident of ADX Florence. 23 hours in a cell and one hour for yard.

Isolation of that degree is hell, plain and simple. Not like the farker deserves every minute of it.

If you want a free exam, medical schools are always looking for models to let the students practice on.

/has his "pelvic, breast, rectal" day next month.
//Yes, that's exactly what it sounds like.

Maybe you should bring up DHT inhibitors with your doctor. As a side benefit, if you haven't lost all your hair, it might stop the receding.

As someone who started balding around age 18, I'm getting a kick out of these rep...

Oh, wait.

Damn.

Are you kidding? With the kind of shape I'm in, you could donate my body to science fiction!

I have six brothers and all of them were bald by the time they were in their early 20's. I still have all my hair (which really pisses them off), and I get the prostate screening whenever the docs say so, and will continue to do so. If my docs say jump, I ask how high. I have had and survived another form of cancer twice, so I'm not taking any chances.

None of my brothers ever bothered with the prostate screenings because DRE's are gay, and until recently I don't think they ever heard of the PSA. Bloody fools. My oldest brother is 66 and is being treated for prostate cancer that could have been caught much earlier if he wasn't such a tool fool. Going to send the rest of them tfa.
