Solona Islam guilty of prostitution? Doesn't that mean she should go out and get stoned? Maybe I misunderstood.

Looking at that picture it's no surprise that she was desperate for money, especially if she was trying to supplement her income by hooking.

fark you, GOP. Want to pay teachers minimum wage? This is the type of teacher you get.

She's a prostitute, i.e., you would have to pay her for sex. Somehow I don't think little Pete's lunch money would pay for full service.

TheSwizz: I see the mods are still allowing 10 year olds who DNRTFA to write and submit headlines.

Yup.

They also allow people who don't know who actually greens links on Fark to comment on those same headlines, so it's a wash.

The flip side of the coin is how hideous and pitiable do you need to be to pay to have sex with something like that?

I'm pretty sure you're the troll, because you're ignoring reality. If teachers made "a lot of money," they wouldn't be turning tricks.

If teachers were well-paid, good people would be fighting for the job. Instead we get stories like this nearly every day. If you aren't capable of understanding why, take a microeconomics class sometime.

At least she wasn't sleeping with the students...her crime didn't affect them, or her ability to teach, so there shouldn't be a reason for her to be fired. I mean, when I was in high school, we found out that one of our teachers had received multiple DUIs. She still had a job...because it wasn't something that directly affected any of the students. Farking prudes.

I thought about that too.
Supply/demand, etc.

I remember (because I got the green on it) that Oregon was trying to push through some legislation that would allow prostitutes to become teachers.

I, and many others in the thread, thought it was a great idea. Not just because they were whores, but because it was a way to get them off the streets and into real jobs.

Then somewhere along the line teachers became bad and whores remain whores.

$43,000 plus benefits is more than enough money to live on without resorting to prostitution.

If that's the case, why are so many teachers leaving the profession?

They are severely under-paid (which is why many of them need to find 2cd jobs, just to break even) and not only that, kids today are alot more disrespectful and dangerous than they were when we were in school, and there is so much red-tape that a teacher cannot effectively deal with the 'problem children' without threats of lawsuits from the brats parents

You couldn't pay me enough to be a teacher, for that very reason.

Not sure where you get your numbers from try about 41,000 with a Masters + 30 and 3 years experience. Try about 37,000 K before benefits. And it is not huge. We get health insurance coverage through a limited network of doctors, and 10,000 life insurance. Ummm that is it. No dental, no eye, and no coverage for our family.
This by the way is the number for FL and SC. In NC,LA,TX, and GA teachers make less, about 34,000 per year.
I am not sure why people think teacher get paid great gobs of money. We work very long hours, spend time with kids who don't want to be in school, and get evaluated on a insane level. Before you post you should check your facts. Instead of grabbing numbers from salary checker or whatever random site you happen to land on from your google search.
A lot of teachers today have to work two or more jobs to make enough money to pay their cost of living. Also pay for the supplies the kids need and use in the classroom. And before you say, "You get a tax break" stop. The tax break is 200 dollars. Do you know how much that ends up being per kid? Well in Fl it is 11 dollars and 11 cents because thankfully our classroom cap is 18. That $11.11 has to last for an entire years worth of paper, pencils, crayons, paints, glue sticks, scissors, copies, hand santizer, tissues, and snacks for the days you forget to pack your childs lunch or feed them breakfast.

For bubbaprog: A champion of education and economic development, Governor Beebe has overseen Arkansas's rise in national education rankings and the announcement of more than 26,000 new jobs. He has helped conclude the lengthy court dispute over Arkansas's public-school system, secured the largest single capital investment in Arkansas public schools, and made record investments in higher education. He has expanded adult-education programs, and worked to match colleges and universities with local businesses to produce a better-trained workforce.

It appears it might take a while to clean up the Democratic mess, but thanks for playing anyway.

You mo'fos we a bunch of wack-ass hatas. So she liked some dick on the side. She was probably an expert in the field of ghettonomics:

science and study of production, distribution, and consumption of life in the ghetto. Ghettonomics is characterized by low savings rates, high aggregate demand for marginal goods, and high leverage ratios. Since many goods consumed are marginal luxury items, the price elasticity of demand is described as approx. -2^x as it is near constant until reach a tipping point.

Wow I take it you make fries for a living? $43,000 is not a lot of money unless you are a 25 yr old kid living with his mommy. You could raise a kid or two on that, but you'd be eating ramen noodles and shopping at garage sales mostly. If you think 43k a year is a lot of money, you clearly have no farking idea what you're talking about or about life in the real world.
