Djibouti is on the eastern coast of Africa, not the Middle East, but I still agree with the sentiment.

In my head I've always included that coast in the "Middle East." Too much shared cultural influence. Granted it's technically wrong, but I like to buck the system like that.

Well a woman who'll kiss on the very first date
Is usually a hussy.
And a woman who'll kiss on the second time out
Is anything but fussy.
But a woman who waits 'til the third time around,
Head in the clouds, feet on the ground!
She's the girl he's glad he's found--she's his

Has anyone noticed that the majority of these countries are in fact in Africa and not the middle east. The current problem is no morelikely to spread to Iran or Saudi Arabia than the fall of the Eastern Bloc was likely to spread to China or Cuba.

Not everything is about the middle east. North Africa and the Horn of Africa have their own set of (related) problems that everyone was all to willing to ignore to concentrate on Iraq, Iran and Israel.

\Not everything is about you.

I have an Osama Bin Laden 9/11 commemorative cigarette lighter from Djibouti. It features OBL's face, and a plane flying into the towers, one of which has a red light that comes on when you light the flame.

Djibouti is pronounced "jih-BOO-tee", incidentally. I had a college suitemate who was from there. She was very Western -- that country isn't as povery-stricken and backward as most of the rest of Africa.

The capital of Djibouti is Djibouti, although during colonial times it was Derriere.

The King of Djibouti's residence is known as "Mixalot".

The chief export of Djibouti is bass.

You are right geographically, but not culturally.

The countries all having unrest right now are Islamic and Sunni.

As for it not spreading to Saudi Arabia, it's already on two sides of it, and demographically similar to Tunisia and Egypt - young populations ruled by 80 something autocrats.
