"Semo is believed to be one of the oldest reproducing dolphins in captivity. "

Thus the name.

Doesn't sound like they tried using CPR or the Defib paddles. Hopefully they treat the other dolphins better.

When I was a kid, maybe 30 years ago, I went to an indoor dinner/dolphin show in Milwaukee.
I enjoyed it at the time, but now I feel guilty.

So much for 1.6 gallon toilets taking care of this...

They'll have to bring back the Ferguson.

I believe I can coelacanth,
Because I re-ply the same damn stream
I think I used to have a porpoise
Then again, it might have been a bream

I think I used to have a sonar,
Now I never sound untoward,
I just dock where I've been told
I really don't want them to come aboard
Oh, no

Every dace is exactly the same
Every dace is exactly the same
There is no bait here and I have no name
Every dace is exactly the same

I can feel their eyes are watching
In case I chum myself again
Sometimes I think I'm saury here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

Every dace is exactly the same
Every dace is exactly the same
There is no line here and I have no name
Every dace is exactly the same

(spoken)
I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping some landfall might find
Well, I'll bottle it in something
They can't look inside

I am still asea here
A little salt comes bleeding through
I wish this could have been any other way
But I just don't roe, I don't know,
What else I can do...

Every dace is exactly the same
Every dace is exactly the same
There is no lamprey and there is no pain

The pools dolphins/orcas are kept In should really be double the size they are now. There is no way animals of that size are comfortable in those tiny pools. The worst offender was six flags in nj. I have seen bigger swimming pools. The best was probably discovery cove in fl and surprisingly the mirage in las vegas.

/ not really related to the story but whatever

Article says average lifespan is 20 but occasionally 45 or 50. Seems like a large disparity, no?

If only there were some place where they could roam around and do whatever they wanted.

Avg human life expectancy in 1st world is like 75-80 but as high as 122 has been documented.

I hear you. I loved captive animals back then. Not now.

I hope it didn't turn out like the dinner/donkey show I saw in Mexico.

And don't forget that deplorable little dolphin pool they used to have at Knott's Berry Farm.

Yes, there are major considerations concerning marine mammals kept captive, but this dolphin apparently lived a full dolphin lifespan, and appeared to be happy, so who knows. I for one would prefer that they be wild rather than being trained to do what are essentially freak shows - apparently most people don't pay attention to dolphins unless they're pulling some yober around on waterskis or doing aerial flips.
