a reminder that this weekend's Fark
party (organized by Trelane)
kicks off Friday at 8 with the Porno
Liberation Front. AbbyNormal,
MistressRowena,
and I have rented a storefront theater, and we've lined up an evening
of go-go-dancers (that's one of them, Creamy, on the right) and
cheesy old sex-ed films (yes, you're encouraged to talk during the
movie, MST3K-style).

Since
the place doesn't have a liquor license, the policy is "BYOB."
However, considering that I'm a notorious dipsomaniac, if Farkers
happened to find and drink the large quantity of alcohol
I'm planning on bringing "for personal consumption," I
wouldn't mind in the least.

To help
offset the rental price, we're asking $10 at the door, which is,
when you think about it, the price of two beers in Manhattan, or
one mixed drink at the sorts of clubs that are filled with guys
in polyester shirts and gold chains. For more information, see the

If this
kinda thing isn't to your liking, we'll probably be heading out
to Remote
Lounge afterwards, about 10:30/11:00. Saturday and
Sunday, for everyone who can quote The Princess Bride by
heart, I'll be in a classical
fencing tournament; the Sunday portion is open to
the public, and it should be really cool.

F train to Houston; Ludlow is the corner with Katz's deli.

Directions
by car: From Jersey, take the Holland Tunnel and drive up to
Houston; cut left (north) and then right (east). From Long Island/The
Bronx/Brooklyn/Queens/Staten Island, take the BQE to the Williamsburg
Bridge (no toll!) and onto Delancey; cut right (north) at the McDonald's
(Allen Street), and then right (east) on Houston. There's a parking
lot on the corner of Houston and Ludlow.

w00t. finally a farkparty that i can attend!
i'll have a hotel room over in jersey, and will be driving into the city. if some peoples wanna stay at the hotel and take the ride into manhattan with me, that'll be kewl. just lemme know either here, or by email.
i can fit about 5 adults (aside from myself) in my car, and if necessary, I can get another room on an hour's notice. the hotel is the ramada limited, and i stayed there for about 6 months on a consulting gig, so they usually oblige to my wishes. ;)
this should be quite fun... i can't wait. :D

No smoking anywhere indoors. Maybe a hotel room. Cigs are $7 a pack anyway. May want to just go ahead and quit.

I figure $7 for cigs or $7 for a pint of vodka. Well, you know where my priorities are. When I do buy a pack I make 'em last several days.

I pay $3.40 a pack here in Pa., and will have a carton or two on me. I smoke Marlboro 100s, but if anyone wants me to pick them up a few packs, lemme know. I can't bring more than 4 cartons - that's the "law" on cigarettes across state lines...
Also, in Jersey where the hotel is, there is smoking in most places still... the hotel room will be a smoking room as well...
Unfortunately, Bloomberg has outlawed smoking indoors ANYWHERE in NYC where people are employed. Feh.
I will also probably have my share of John Daniels (when you know him as well as I do... *laf*) for my personal consumption, of course, but I may leave a few glasses here and there... accidentally of course.... :D

true, jodaro55 - only problem is, I'm up in Honesdale, which is waaaaayyy north of Delaware. I do. however, hit the PX any time I go by a base.... that's what you call serious discount, lemme tell ya...
I think the last time I paid $18 or so for a carton.
