I picked up a new Handspring Treo 180 for $105 on ebay.

Phone and PDA. Works wonders. Just stick the SIM in and go. She can switch back to a phone (with the SIM) when she wants to be without the PDA>

Get her a cell phone that has an organizer. I sell (and carry) a nice phone that is compact and easy to use. It's the Samsung S105. You can store hundreds of phone numbers, schedule appointments-with an alarm to boot, and send an receive e-mail. Let's be honest, most women don't need something else to lug around in a purse. And if she works from home I doubt she needs anything that high-tech if you already have a computer.

How about a $30 DayRunner (no batteries!) and a fabulous $170 romantic dinner? I bet that produces more good will than a $200 gadget.

What does she want it for? If it's just for addressbook, memos, and appointments, any of the older palms are perfect. My wife uses a Palm III and it suits her just fine. She doesn't even play games or use AvantGo with it.

I'd stay as far away from anything running CE as possible, and don't forget to check eBay. You can pick up some stuff that's one version behind but still works great.
