Happy Caturday!

And a Happy Caturday to you, my very first TF sponsor :)

Always a pleasure to see you :)

StranahansBarracuda: Ok, I usually lurk, but someone was nice enough to sponsor me for TF so I thought I better put out with some posts. First shot at posting a photo. Hope this works! If it does this is George, my orange boy, with "The Spoiler" aka my Dad.

StranahansBarracuda: Lajimi LOL that is awesome! She ended up as Peep because she's a talker and constantly "peeps" at everyone :)

This is Peeper, so named because she "peeped" whenever she was hungry which was ALWAYS. She's one of five kittens born in my rundown old tool shed last spring. She's since gone AWOL but she was so friendly and sweet I hope she was adopted by some cat lover in the area.

sherpa18: akimbotoo: Oh yeah, who was subby? I don't remember seeing who was the subby for the last two Caturdays either.

I thought you always said you could tell my submissions...

/i can only take credit for this week and last week (i disavow any knowledge of the one before that)
//maybe this is why it's called getting sherpes? :o)

I was afraid that you would think I was a stalker if I pulled that one too often! I think you usually submit a minimum of at least 2 or 3 nearly every week. They generally include an astute turn of phrase. Didn't I prove it the last time you called me on this? But then again, there are several masters of the English Language here on Caturday. Plus, a wicked sense of humor is rampant in this bunch.

ohnonotfloridaagain: Hai guize :) Haven't posted in a long time but thought I'd give an update on my Catarina (named after Edgar Allan Poe's cat), who was dumped at a warehouse my son's girlfriend worked at sometime in the summer of 2009. She looked like this back then while I was spoiling her

learning to walk on a leash about six months later

and here she is a couple nights ago commiserating with our son's boa

She has been a joy, and the Caturday community inspired me to take her in, for which I am grateful :) Hopefully I will get a couple pics up of her soon that will be worthy of treatment by ThePuceGuardian! She already holds a spot of honor on LarJorgen's...well, you know

Happy Caturday!

Great to see you back! Caterina was an adorable kitten and an amazingly beautiful cat! When my kitties are watching the snakes, I call it "watching snake-vision". When they're sitting in the window watching birdies at the feeders and the birdbath it's "watching bird TV".

Being a complete sap, I am fostering yet another very sick kitty. She has severe URI(worst yet) and while she's no longer blowing bubbles when she breathes, she wont eat without us force feeding her.

i54.tinypic.com">

We're using baby food and a syringe and giving her anti-nausea meds along with subcutaneous fluids (100mg) twice a day. Any advice from fark's cat experts?

I need to run out for supplies and will check back later. Thanks in advance!!

Ooops, we're also giving her antibiotics and nebulizing her about ten times a day.

All of my cat pics on ICHC were deleted. So now I need to spend time putting pics BACK in ICHC. I have lots of good ones; why they were deleted I don't know. I also have some really great pics of some of the big cats at the Houston Zoo, especially their cheetahs.

The two cheetahs were hand raised and love and interact with their keepers. And they have their own big ole dog that they play with. They are the only big cats that have pics of them being hugged by their keepers.

AnyName: Being a complete sap, I am fostering yet another very sick kitty.

I beg to differ...

It sounds like you've got it covered. If she's not getting enough food you can have a feeding tube placed which is inserted just behind the jaw and runs down the esophagus into the stomach. It's much safer and easier to deal with than the traditional tubes which enter the stomach directly. Best part is that there's no immediate danger if it's mistakenly pulled out.

Alice had one for four weeks. Clothes were required to keep the tube away from prying hands. She actually enjoyed the feedings!

Missed this candidate tale/tail completely when looking for same! Tnx also to predle for fixing up the multi-lingual Gd Meowning to include Finn.
Saw 2 submissions of the same Volde-mog tale/tail. Poor kitty, hope he finds some caring one in UK where he is to take him in as an Only Cat.
Caturday on Animal Planet TV begins at 1 PM today! I did finally think to go to their website & check their TV sched. Runs until 9 PM.
I'll say now that I've a human sad; need to go to Sports & see whether any of the 4 tales/tails of the passing of Tom Carnegie, Voice Of The Indpls 500, got green lit. 61-yr run; truly a legend in his own time, rather than in his own mind not! as too many are. 1 subby headline had 3 mis-spellings in it.
Have 3 more pgs to catch up on. Onward!

Where to start. This is going to be so very unbelievable, but trust me, its true.

Two days ago, my husband and I were at the mall. Our local Humane Society has a annex there. I didn't want to go in, but my Husband said it wouldn't hurt to look.

We were looking at the cats, I looked down, and in the bottom row of cages, was CHLOE!! I did a double take, looked at the card they had attached to the cage. It had my address where she was found. Son of a biatches!

I went to the desk, and demanded to talk to the person in charge. They called the main shelter, and I talked to them. I was pissed. Remember, they told me they euthanized her? When I was done ranting and raving with them, they checked paperwork, ect., and come to find out, it was a Calico named CLEO that was euthanized. NOT CHLOE!

It has been 2 weeks now that Chloe has been in that cage waiting to be adopted. I told them I wanted Chloe and I wanted her NOW! They told me that she had been adopted and the family was coming in at 10 a.m. to get her the next day. I raised hell again, and told them I had said I wanted her. I was the one who fed her and kept her warm while she was out in the freezing cold. They apologized and offered me any cat or kitten I wanted at no charge. Now I was really pissed. So, I left, and decided that I would be at the HS at 10 the next day. I was determined to get Chloe.

The family showed up a little after 10, and so help me god, it was a young couple with 2 little kids. The kids were probably around 8 and 5 maybe. I just kind of hung back, trying to decide if I wanted to pursue this any farther, and when they took Chloe out of the cage, and I saw her with the kids, and how excited they were, I just couldn't do it.

I'm still in tears as I type this, but it is good to know that Chloe is going to a forever home with someone who will love her, and I am sure she will bring alot of joy to the kids.

I'm not ready to get another cat yet, and will just love up the one I have. Someday maybe.

For over a year now, a black cat has been hanging around my den. It most often would be seen in my yard and would hang out with my cat, Marmalade. In the past few months, it has been getting more friendly towards me and my family. It started to where it wouldn't run away right away when someone would come outside. And it would meow like a cat that wanted to be friendly, but was just too nervous about strangers to come any closer.

I remember back in the fall of '08, when leaving for work and coming home, I'd often see a young black cat of what I guessed to be about 6 months in my neighborhood near the bottom of the hill I go down when leaving to go somewhere. I think it's the same cat.

Now it's starting to come into the den through the cat door. It always announces itself by meowing. The two oldest cats of mine, both neutered males, run it off. There have been two occasions where one one happened to be near the cat door not letting the black cat out and it would let someone pick it up to put it outside, didn't struggle or anything.

But they're loosing their aggression towards the black cat. A few days ago, I was told that it curled up in a dining room chair for a few hours. My family has started calling it Midnight because it's all black and often shows up at night.

It may be a neighborhood stray, but it does seem to want to be friendly towards people, which suggests that it wasn't wild born and when picked up, it's not fat, but certainly not skinny and its coat is in good shape, so it seems to be well fed.

Early last Tuesday morning, I heard it in the den near my room. When I went to look, it ran away, but didn't go outside and stopped for a snack at the cat food bowl in the kitchen. Moving slowly and speaking softly, I got close enough to pet it as it ate.

I also was able to get a couple of photos of it before it went out the door. My kitty Marmalade is seen in the first photo. Click to enlarge

The following night, it let me pick it up and I confirmed that it's an neutered male, which explains its lack of aggression toward the other cats and suggests that it is or was somebody's pet.

This is Willow, our 7 year-old part Siamese adoptee. My wife and I raised her & her sister from the age of 3 weeks. A few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with diabetes, so now we are giving her insulin shots twice a day. She seems to be tolerating them well, and it hasn't changed her attitude or playfulness in the least bit.

Something like this happened to me. In October my big oaf dog alerted me to a ridiculously small kitten in my driveway. I ran inside to grab the cat carrier, but a car pulled up to the driveway next door and she disappeared. I looked, but couldn't find her anywhere, so I went to work. 2.5 miles down a main road and 4 hrs later, I went to go to lunch and found someone standing by my car. She'd heard a kitten. We listened for a meow, I opened the hood and there was the wee kitty--sitting on the engine, being tiny and terrified, but completely unharmed. We gripped her tight and raised her from perdition. Her name is Sadie Bell---except when she's practicing her favorite hobby (murder) then I call her Angelus.

Question: Does anyone have a brand/type of cat furniture that they highly recommend? I finally have enough money to splurge. My only concern is that Olive might ignore it (after buying multiple cat beds, scratching posts which she ignored). She typically likes to lay on hard flat surfaces. (No quips from you, QJ.) Also, she weighs 9 pounds so I don't think I'm going to go for one of those 6'+ models lest she knock it over with a crazy jump.
