Happy Caturday, everyone!
Liked the slow-mo kitten video, they have a really cute slo-mo chipmunk on that page too.

sherpa18 the video with keyboard cat is a parody of that Banksy movie - has anyone seen it? It sounds like it could be good.

Now the bad news
This little guy seems to have a cleft palate, or more accurately, no palate

farm6.static.flickr.com

That's making nursing very difficult. Domari is bottle feeding him and he seems to be getting most of it down.

farm6.static.flickr.com

We'll see what the vet says. Remember though, 1/2 the kittens born never make it to their first birthday.

Now for good news again.
The dates for aliennarr!!'s trip are set. There will be a Fark party in Binghamton when she's here for those of you within driving distance.
The thread for it is here (new window)

Do you have to officially invite Drew to these kinds of things?

Thanks, I'll do my best, but we'll see what the vet decides in the morning. I honestly don't think there is any way to save this one. Too small for surgery. Bottle or tube feeding is only going to prolong the inevitable

This is the worst part of all this rescue business. Kittens are cute and all that, I love to take them in and find homes for them. That's the easy part. But since we get these momma cats and kittens from people who never take care of them in the first place, some things are completely out of our control. We get cats who are abandoned, starved, crawling with fleas, snotty noses, puking, you name it, they got it. I do everyhing in my power, and the vets power, to save them, and still, sometimes nothing at all works. Then they die.

What really pisses me off the most is this can ALL BE PREVENTED. If these cats were cared for or SPAYED, none of this would happen.

So please, ALL OF YOU, do everything in your power to make sure EVERYONE you know has their cats and dogs spayed and neutered. Spend some time with your local shelter or spay/neuter group and see what you can do to help get the word out to get people to do this.

Ok so much for my rant... this is Caturday afterall. We need happy cats, right?

Here's Frankie, remember one of the orphan babies found in the woods last October that had to be bottle fed. He was adopted by a really great couple who love him sooo much. He's obviously comfortable and content there too....

I'd hazard a guess that the "want to know" is fairly unanimous amongst the usual suspects.

Finally feeling human again after a *wonderful* misdiagnosis by a walk-in clinic. Luckily, my regular doc eventually agreed with my "gee, it really looks like this" self-diagnosis. Sometimes I think I know more about myself than my doctors.

Alice, Mia and Biscuit go batshiat over cereal milk! They line up three abreast in front of me and give me the "I'm dying of starvation" look. They get really antsy when the spoon starts to hit the bottom of the bowl. At least they share politely.

cretinbob: yobbery: Moar pics of newbies pleeeze!

Yeah let me eat.
Just remember, you can refuse that IV to begin with, but once you're unresponsive, you get it anyway.

Well put. I really has a sad for the little gray fellow. I hope the vet can help.

Thank you all for your answers last week on Pu's eye discharge. All is good with her.

Now a new question (or situation). I received a gift of a "mink" blanket from my nephew who was in Korea. Got the 1980 version from a relative and it weighted 340 lbs (i embellish "a bit"). This is the new and improved weighing about 12 oz. Still as warm and comfy as the original.

Problem: Kitteh paws touch this and I get "treaded" for 1/2 hour plus. Claws go through "new and immproved" and hit "mommy skin". Blood is sometimes involved.

Do I:
a) deal with it
b) put blanket away
c) have another choice

Have had (DRAGON: don't read this) goggies until ny current whatever you call 3 cats.

What to do?

Glad to hear Pu is ok.

It sounds like you have yet to learn who's in charge? Here's my suggestion.

Ingredients required:
1 mink blanket
1 Sunday paper

1. Fold mink blanket into a 3'x3" square. Set in corner of bedroom.
2. Tape several sheets of Sunday paper together to make a rectangle of
approximately 6'x7'.
3. Place cats on blanket in corner.
(Optional: Add 1 cup of treats to blanket)
4. Lie in bed.
5. Cover self with 6'x7' sheet of newspaper created earlier.
6. Sleep for 8 hours or until cats are hungry.
