Moral: Don't lie down on Broadway.

I blame the cabbies, and women drivers.

2011-02-10 02:33:20 PM
That's strange because cars are not allowed on large parts of Broadway.

From 2007 to 2009, the group found, 18 pedestrian fatalities occurred along the thoroughfare, which stretches for 16 miles in Manhattan and the Bronx

that's an annual rate of about 0.5 fatalities/mile

is this bad?

Is this to the tune of that eBay commercial?

Ah, a great album. Before Genesis turned into the Phil Collins cabaret band. :/

I've seen the respectful observance of traffic lights by New York pedestrians. Oh, wait, no I haven't.

WEAK lyrical execution.

They say a lamb met bus and lost...on Broadway.

This is my favorite, put the melody at the fore of my brain.

The asphalt crawlers heed their callers, you gotta get hit to get out.

My God! So much Genesis (and when I say Genesis I don't mean that crap that sounds like a Disney soundtrack!) in one thread.

Now I have to listen to Lamb, Foxtrot and Nursery Crimes. Thank you Fark.

It's the season.

Steve Hackett's birthday is coming up in a couple days, and Peter Gabriel's is the day after it (even though the birthday thread showed up 10 days early).

I'ma let you finish your solo, Mr. Gilmour, but Steve Hackett's solo on "Firth of Fifth" is the best of all time. OF ALL TIME.

There's only one direction, in the sheep guts that I've seen,
It's upwards toward Central Park, where I think I see it's spleen...

Surprised to see only one fatality listed for Park Ave between 45th and 57th -- they're only now starting to install overhanging traffic lights and pedestrian crossing signals along that stretch, with most intersections still having just one signal on a pole in the median serving traffic in all directions.

2011-02-10 05:16:11 PM
Not all Collins-led Genesis was bad...just towards the end there. Anything post-ABACAB.

"Supper's Ready" was still their finest hour, IMHO.

Broadway was in confusion
all the voices shouting loud
I could only just hear a voice quite clear say:
"help me remove this lamb carcass"

ohhhhhhh You say i must be crazy
cuz i don't care what i hit, WHAT I HIT!
cuz you know it's me that'shiatting out
and i'm ...i'm not FULL OF SH*T!

the lamb carcass covers the ground
in the middle of a road called broadway
it's upwards to the Silver Clouds (done proud)
where the stench is said to stay

the lamb lifted its head and said
"you yourself are just the same as what you see in meee"
"me? like you?? like THAT?!"

/ silent sorrow in empty goats?

Been hooked on TLLDOB since my brother introduced it to me when I was about 13. That was 1983. I loved the "In the Cage" medley from Three Sides Live so much he showed me the original, and I was hooked on the whole thing.

It was my first exposure to a concept album, and I still hold it above all other attempts. There's a nice amount of space left. Things aren't so fixed with details that a person can't just enjoy the ride.

When I read the story behind "the making of" it made the thing seem more Gatsby-esque. At least Peter was leaving while the band was reaching a peak, or plateau, as it turned out.
