I watch Smallville. This season has been a blast.

2011-02-07 07:55:25 PM
The last 4 years have been on my must view list.

2011-02-07 08:19:38 PM
Its a good show, what I've watched of it. I've just never been that into it. Maybe once it ends I'll check it out on dvd.

2011-02-07 08:23:21 PM
I used to watch it regularly. I really liked Kristin Kreuk, and freely admit that she was one major reason I watched. That said, I really like Allison Mack, both for her looks and acting.

I can't remember why I stopped watching, although it was around the time Laura Vandervoort was part of the cast. Looking back, I think I just kinda outgrew the show.

The first six years of the show were pretty much : Meteor freak of the week, Clark mopes about Lana in his barn, emo music, repeat.

But now it's all like, The Justice League is being hunted by the US military as Darkseid gains his hold in the public's mind while Lois tells Clark to quit moping so damn much.

It's a lot more fun now. And Chloe's back!

2011-02-07 08:40:39 PM
It stopped being a guilty pleasure for me when Lana gained super powers and she and Clark broke furniture farking. Now it's just a pleasure.

2011-02-07 09:29:56 PM
Is Clark still a teenager?

(never watched)

Isn't SuperEmoBoy like, thirty-eight by now?

2011-02-07 10:19:28 PM
I liked Kristin Kreuk, but I got sick of Clana.

I hope Michael Rosenbaum is back for the finale.

Kar98: Isn't SuperEmoBoy like, thirty-eight by now?

They've aged him with the show. He works at the Daily Planet and is engaged to Lois, who knows his secret. He's basically Superman, but he keeps the suit in the Fortress of Solitude because he doesn't believe he's worthy of it, or something. Lois will talk him around by the finale. They already flew around the Daily Planet building last week all romantic like, so they got that part out of the way.

This picture perfectly explains why DC Comics don't appeal to Marvel fans.

I watched around abouts the first 5 or so seasons of it, but got tired of it. The whole Lana thing got way too tiresome to bother with anymore. I had heard it got better eventually, I just haven't bothered to play catch-up and watch all that again.

I had heard Lex left the show after a while too. Damn shame, him and his dad on the show were 2 of the reasons that show was good. The main was was looking at Chloe. That girl needs to get scantily clad more often.

Hey the Magnificent Bastard Lionel is back now too. You know Lex will return soon, I haven't read Michael Rosenbaum being too busy with anything else lately.

Is it really Lionel or "Kal-El I am the ghost of your father" Lionel garbage? I had to admit I wasn't fond of that stuff.

I think it's really Lionel from Earth 2. An alternate Earth where Clark was adopted by Lionel was a real jerkass.

I can barely remember but it was only like two months ago. I think Clark Kent got tossed in a parallel universe where he was UltraMan, having been found by Lionel Luthor instead of the Kents in that reality. So when Clark got all those shenanigans worked out, alt-universe Lionel secretly hopped back over to Smallville universe.

At least that's what I think happened. I'm usually pretty drunk when I watch that show.

The tragedy of Smallville is that it's ending just as it's getting interesting. There was an episode last fall where Brainiac sends Clark bouncing around in time and we get to see five years or so in the future.

Clark is doing the full-on dual identity, glasses and tights thing. He and Lois are together, and she helps him maintain his cover. Perry White is editor of the Planet. Everything is in place, but we only get a few minutes of it.

The past few seasons have actually been pretty good, but I really want to see the 2015 version of the show.

That's what I remember too. And here's to hoping he gets to play a decent role in the tail end of the season. John Glover is the best actor that show's ever seen.

I've only watched one episode, and enjoyed it.

I too watch Smallville.

Personally I think it holds up pretty darn well to any of the previous Superman based t.v. series.

I'm an extremely recent convert to Smallville. I wrote it off when it first came out and thought nothing of it. Then I watched the first season. It was soapy, but it was still Superman. So I kept watching.

I ended up watching all nine and half seasons over my Christmas vacation.

It's not the best show in the world, but it's damned good. And there's a lot of fan service in the show - especially in the later seasons.

I agree with the poster above though. It's a shame it's ending just when it was getting so awesome.

I stopped watching . . . let's see here . . . I believe it was when Doomsday kidnapped Chloe from her wedding reception. Things just got too weird for me. As much as I loved the episodes where Clark met with future JL members, the BS in-between stuff was just too much.

/The ladies of Smallville, though . . . yowza

I was just telling my wife that I was wondering if I would ever get around to catching up on the show. I stopped watching midway through season 7. Been hearing good things about it lately, but haven't got back into it, 3 and a half seasons seems a little daunting.

I quit halfway through season 7. I'd watched from day one, and was enjoying the hell out of it for a while despite the bad acting, bad writing, and just general soapiness of the whole thing. But the writing progressively got worse, the acting slid into high-school-drama-class grade terrible and I just couldn't take it anymore. It's supposed to improve with age, not decline.

I just have to get an objective opinion: I love what I've heard about the last couple of seasons, but if it's all just fan service, "Hey, look, the JSA and Wonder Twins and Darkseid and Ultraman and stuff," and the acting and writing haven't improved, I don't want to even waste my time catching up. So, is it worth it to torrent these farkers and see what I've missed?

Yes, there is fan service, but the show got good again.

The whole Lana/Clark emo shiat is over with.

There's a Lex clone out there that's got a genetically built-in hatred for Clark

The JSA and the proto-Justice league are working together

The government created Checkmate to hunt down superhumans

The Suicide Squad is using superhumans for Black Ops

Chloe, Aquaman, Supergirl and Black Canary came back

Desaad, Granny Goodness and Glorious Godfrey are preparing Earth for the arrival of Darkseid

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold are in an upcoming episode

Hopefully the show will end with Clark wearing the suit and finally flying.

Craptastic: 10 years? Isn't Superman grown up yet?

In the comics, Superman didn't start his superhero career until he was 28. The actor on Smallville is only 33.

I'm a little freaked out, as always, by sequential pictures of WB actors/actresses and how they all have roughly identical body and facial shape. I've tried to watch certain shows on that network and literally had to note the costume colors in a given scene to tell one actress from another.

There was one show where the female lead played two characters (that were dopplegangers or some other soap opera nonsense) and I missed the point of a dramatic reveal because I'd simply assumed they were different actresses, differing hairstyles being the only way I could tell either from three other actresses.

It's farking creepy, it is. It's the farking stepford network.

To be replaced with the Lois/Clark forced 'love for all ages' bullshiat. I'm stumped at all the dudes pining over Lana, the fans hated that broad. I guess all the Lana fapping on the show was meant for the dudes in this thread... who never stuck around for the show anyway. Boggled.

As for the fanservice, it all sounds great on paper; but actually watching it, it's like 'oh wow something neat is going to happen! wait, that's it?' too little on that show, still. Thinking about it, the new V re-imagining would be the perfect companion piece to smallville.... because they both pull that 'oh shiat something important is going down' followed immediately by 'wait that's it?' crap.

/hawkman's funeral procession was kinda dope
//would have been really dope if they'd paid everyone in the Society and League to actually show up and get some face time, grrrrr
///daniel jackson has a nice body
//so did jonas quinn, though

yet the chick getting the most love, is the one who looks slightly different. must be the asian fascination.

but you have a point, which shouldn't be lost. they *do* all look similar. the network is built around pleasing a certain demographic. you and I aren't it.

That's what I was afraid of. They dangle a Pander-Carrot, then yank it back and whip yet more soap opera bullshiat out there. I can't even use the, "hottest chick ever leaves right before you blow," analogy. It's more like the hottest chick in the world promises to fark your brains out, then pops in long enough to say, "Hi," before sending her significantly lesser best friend instead, who just happens to be your ex. Now you're irritated, you've got blue balls and you're dealing with the same old shiat that you tried to get away from in the first place.

Cause I AM it.

The girlfriend and I try to watch it once in a while, typically get a half season further and then can't take the terrible acting, brutal scripts and non-movement of any kind of story. I mean when Joss Whedon casts upstage your acting you know something is terribly wrong.

If someone made a special edition cut that surgically removed Lana from the show entirely and focused more on the Luthors I'd probably try to watch it. I understand she's been pulled in the later seasons but the damage is already done and from what I remember they just swapped in Lois and gave her Lana's dating personality when it happened any ways.

I've missed most of the last year or so and wish I could catch up but the CW doesn't provide any of the episodes on their website. Is there any legitimate way to get recent episodes with or without a subscription?

I watched the first 3 seasons but all the "Lana Lana Lana" got tiring. Been trying to catch up on DVD since they've been going on sale. I'm up to Season 6 now. My mother's been watching this religiously

I stopped watching in season six but I know it is one of those shows I'll catch up with sooner or later.

I don't care that the Alicia Baker character turned out to be a little too close to putting the bunny in the pot. She was smoking hot while still remaining cute, had a sexy voice, loved doing all the little things for CLark, and she was more than willing to give up the backdoor. To hell with my family and anybody else that I cared about, I'd have gone for that chick because she was cuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhrazy!
