LucklessWonder: You know who beat the Super Bowl champions this season?

The Motherfuggin' Washington Redskins!

More seriously, congrats to A-Rodg and the Pack and all the fans thereof.

I was gonna say something snarky, but then I remembered that this kinda thing might just be the highlight of 'Skins fans while Synder owns the team.

You poor poor bastards. I remember the Mecom Saints days.

/and I wasn't even born then.

Sadly that was one of two highlights for this 'Skins fan this season.

The other?

After Wallace dropped that last pass, the camera cut to Ben, and he had a "gosh-darn-it" sort of half-smile on his face; it made me think, "Dude...do you not realize you just lost the freaking Super Bowl??"

Then, of course, I realized that he's already won 2, and probably figures he can wait another year for the third one.

/Pack just flat-out out-played the Stillers.

Aside from calling that facemask against GB on the kickoff, I thought it was a fairly officiated (if not well officiated) game.

As a Steelers fan, you learn to wince every time there's a flag thrown on any play, because you're always thinking that THIS will be the phantom call that benefits your team, but gives the other side ammunition for the "OMG NFL'S in the tank for the Stillers!!" chorus.

/Actually, probably would have been that facemask, had they won.

Good on Aaron though. All the kid has done is shutup and play for the team he was drafted for without biatching (when he expected to go top 5 in his draft. Oh and replacing a legend. Oh and doing it at a pro-bowl level.

Jerry Jones,

Your stadium sucks. The grass sucked. The massive flat screen above the players that forces all people to not watch the field sucks. Your attempt to sucker several hundred people out of money by adding chairs without approval from the fire marshal sucked. Standing outside in the cold to watch the game on a big screen TV for 200 bones sucked. The idea of having bars next to where the players go in and out of the stadium sucks. Your monument to yourself is god awful and it only makes me happier that the Giants beat you on that first game. What a terrible stadium.

Great game (outside of the slips on that crappy surface). Congrats to the Pack!

i said in the Super Bowl thread yesterday that I never understood how Rodgers was portrayed by some in the media as a young veteran (if that makes sense) finally reaching his potential. Huh?

Go look at ATL's Matt Ryan. You know, the up and comer, just now maturing into an elite QB. the kid with tons of upside, whereas Rodgers is finally harvesting his potential.

Total regular season starts for Rodgers: 47

To be fair about it, Rodgers has had the benefit of a few more years of practice/work with an NFL team. It makes a difference if a guy takes advantage of it and Rodgers clearly has.

Yeah anything can happen in this league. I'm not really a fan of them or anything, they just look to have a well built team, if they can keep the core together, they should be a threat over the next few years.

Chicago I think was smoke and mirrors this season. I never bought into them. Vikes are in transition with the QB situation. Detroit has potential, but Stafford's durability is already questionable. I think his last two seasons (his only seasons? or was this year 3?) have ended prematurely due to shoulder injury.

They (pack) should have a strangehold on the North for a few years.

Im not buying into that. Ive seen too many teams go hot and cold year to year.. Seen a fair number of Super Bowl hangover years too. Seen a lot of free agent turnover and aging veterans retire once they have rings too.

Im not predicting a Packer implosdion by any means, and Im not saying they will suck.. Far from it. They have a great core in most areas. Im just saying that strangleholds on divisions have a way of disappearing. Ask San Diego or New Orleans or the Vikings about how their strangleholds worked out for them this year. The difference between winning a division and not making the playoffs is often a field goal here and a fumble there. Im not saying the Pack cant win the North for the next few years but its no cakewalk and even the lowly Lions could win it with a few good bounces going their way.

1) yeah, but that's the point; the Pakcers ahve a shiatload of key players under contract for years to come. granted woodson is probably got 1 year left (assuming he comes back, who knows), but the core is there.

2) and i'm not saying the Packers will win the North for years to come. But the road goes through Green Bay. Too many question marks for the other North teams.

and if i'm proven wrong, i don't care. just saying tha tpackers 'chise is in a remarkably strong position.

i know, i know.....keep in mind i was saying the same thing about the Cardinals SB appearance to all the naysayers. "how did we 'fluke' our way over three NFC teams (carolina, atlanta, eagles) to get to the super bowl? how is beating every team we faced in the post season (and soundly, at that) a 'fluke'?"

but that said, i was just never sold on them. just my opinion.

i would liek to see Cutler shove it up everyone's ass next year, though. Lotta players, past and present, got a whole lot tougher when he went down. Deion Sanders calling out Cutler? huh?
