There's also this at YouTube (new window) Which has a nice set up for picking commercials.

Vader kid was second. The best was the Doritos "Grandpa?" one.

Meh. Vader Kid was much more clever.

On the other hand, the Doritos one with the guy licking Dorito residue off someone's finger & then tearing off someone else's pants to smell them was, to put it mildly, disturbing.

I was waiting to get this link. As I have mentioned, our network doesn't have any commercials, so I missed out on all the good ones.

I take that back, subby. Your link is bad and you should feel bad.

No, I never want to watch the commercials. Why would I?

Darth Vader and teleflora were the only good commercials. This was a really bad year for the SB ad people.

Alphax: No, I never want to watch the commercials. Why would I?

Because while they are ads, they tend to be funny and at least attempt to be imaginative. It's like classic SNL skits, but they only last for 30 seconds so they don't overstay their welcome.

Not everything has to be high art, after all. Sometimes, it's OK to laugh at a woman catching a can of soda to the side of her head.

I don't know. Having Richard Lewis being the whiny transformation of a lumberjack had me laughing pretty good. And I have to say, I really enjoyed Rosanne getting hit by a huge log. Fake or not, that was just plain satisfying.

The Bridgestone "Carma" commercial was pretty good too.

Who the fark approved that test baby commercial? I mean I laughed, but this will not go over well with the rest of society.

The only ones I laughed at were the 2 doritos one. Mostly the first with the guy licking the fingers.. though they ruined it by trying to go back for a second laugh with the pants.

Just got through the "Imported from Detroit" video on the YouTube channel posted by WhyteRaven74, and as a native Michigander, son and grandson to life long autoworkers, and longtime fan of Detroit, I liked it a lot.

It wasn't funny, and it was sappy in it's own way. But I liked it. I think it might be my favorite so far.

That was kind of freaky. Test Baby or not, that thing blinked and looked dismayed. It had sentience, for farks sake.

Similarly, I LOL'd at the end of the Pepsi Max commercial with the guy who was being forced by his wife to diet, but the moment it aired, the first thought that went through my head was that there were gonna be complaints and protests about it the next morning for being:

1) Racist for showing a black guy being enticed by the white wimmins
2) Sexist for showing violence against women (albeit it was another woman who threw the can at her, not a man)

Best part of the night, honestly. I watched it with 3 other Detroit expatriates, and we all had some dust in our eyes.

Of course, all the non-Michiganders in the room were wondering what the hell the big deal was, which made me wonder how much impact that actually had on the rest of the country.

Not a Michigander but I liked it too (although I have lived in Ann Arbor for a little so the sentiment may have rubbed off from once hanging out with people there). Good to see Eminem pay tribute to support his troubled hometown. And is it just me or was he in several commercials this year?

the_vegetarian_cannibal: Good to see Eminem pay tribute to support his troubled hometown.

He, along side Kid Rock, seem to really care about Detroit and actually continue to live there, from what I understand (though I am sure only part of year, of course). Tim Allen too, if you give a rat's ass about him and I wouldn't blame you if you didn't, but he's a decent enough guy and I heard rumor that he didn't charge for his voice-over work for the "Pure Michigan" tourism campaign.

Kristen Bell and Selma Blair have done some charity work there, raising money for a homeless shelter in Detroit. And while Jeff Daniels isn't a Detroit native (spent most of his childhood in Northern Michigan) he does quite a bit of stuff for Michigan from advertising to making movies there.

Michigan is one of those places you think you will be glad to leave, but are surprised how much you miss it once you're gone.

None. The rest of the US considers Michigan to be a third world country, and Detroit its Mogadishu. "Imported from Detroit" just makes sense.

I'm glad there's a site where you can watch these. Sometimes I go for long stretches - up to 20 minutes - where I forget about the existence of Coca-Cola, and it's nice to be reminded.

While I wouldn't mind a renaissance in Detroit autos, the inability to let go of the glory days, as witnessed by the throwback styling in the current sedan and wagon lineup, leaves me with the feeling that it's just not in the cards.

I thought the "Super Coupon" sites (Living Social vs. Groupon) really blew it, as far as trying to get across why you want to use them.

So, Living Social is suggesting you should use them if you are a manly man and want to become a crossdresser?

And Groupon is promoting their site by having a rich hollywood actor give the fact that while 3rd world countries are in dire poverty... hey, at least we can eat their ethnic food for 50% off!?

As a non-Michiganer, I think Chrysler needs to stop making commercials that appeal to everyone's emotions and instead starts making cars that are worth a damn. That's great that they got Eminem and made this powerful tribute to Detroit and then ran the whole thing in a Superbowl spot. That really speaks to some people. It spoke to me too, and told me that they are still out of ideas and energy, but won't someone please buy our cars in honor of the way things used to be.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. Funny how the shiatty Look Who's Talking movies catch so much flak, but people fine those stupid ETrade commercials funny.
