Crotchrocket Slim: Mr. Fuzzypaws: I'd like to know why the originator of the Rick Roll chose that song. Of all the songs on YouTube they chose "Never Gonna Give You Up". It could have been "Baby Got Back".

1. "Never Gonna Give You Up" was used in a Family Guy reference, and I'm sure that this meme is built partly as a reference to that.

2. "Baby Got Back" is too legitimately loved. Granted, both are cheesy, fun songs in their own way, but pre-gangsta rap songs pwn 80s club music any day of the week.

It being on family guy does not predate the meme. The episode that bit was in was "Meet the Quagmires", which originally aired on May 20, 2007. The "rickroll" originated a few weeks prior to that, when the trailer for GTA4 was released (which i cant find an exact date to), rockstars website went down in the flood and somebody posted a link to mirror of the trailer on 4chan. Which was actually a link to the video.

The family guy thing was either coincidental or very very timely considering the production time needed for animation.
