Cause you know, strapping people into a chair and electrocuting them is so much more humane.

Whoever gave this the cool tag please give us a 200 word essay on what your shiat tastes like before you die. Please indicate also that you enjoyed every bite.

Ah, yes - our "allies" at work, murdering people en-masse. Lovely to know Saudi Arabia and the US are the biggest supporters of state-murder. And one of the biggest murders is now our President-appointee (127 Texas-performed murders as of May 2000).

I hear that you stay concious for 20 to 30 seconds after being beheaded.

Can't say exactly how anyone would have verified such a thing, though.

2003-07-19 07:05:40 PM
I would be really disappointed to be beheaded for "apostasy". I'm pretty sure they made that one up as a catch-all. It sounds like one of those ingredients in Italian recipes that you leave out because you don't know what it is.

Oh, come on. It was obviously flame bait. You don't actually have to bite...

Uhhhh Finn of about 1500 people that were executed around the world last year, about 1000 of those were in China.

Ooooh OOoOOOH Texas bad!! 127 in 3 years!

2003-07-19 07:08:03 PM
So, how many is Texas up to this year?

2003-07-19 07:08:12 PM
I doubt it. The shock of having your neck cut through would knock you out before you died. I'd imagine death is pretty much instantaneous.

And besides, it's not like this was a woman who committed adultery. It's a grown man who stabbed another man to death. What were they going to?

Let's save our sympathy for people who deserve it.

2003-07-19 07:08:20 PM
So it is a real word...

apostasy

n 1: the state of having rejected your religious beliefs [syn: renunciation, defection] 2: the act of abandoning a party or cause [syn: tergiversation]

I'm ok, I never abandon a good party.

2003-07-19 07:08:32 PM
That's gonna leave a mark.

2003-07-19 07:08:32 PM
This guy got off too easy. They should have handcuffed him for the rest of his life to Mike Tyson. Now that whould have been cruel punishment.

2003-07-19 07:12:37 PM
oh man - this means I gotta drink 25 beers within the next 24 hours to help celebrate.

(good to live in texas where this sort of thing is celebrated as a good thing!)

Back when France was Guillotining (?!) people left and right the beheaded a guy who was fascinated with the question of whether or not you remain conscious.

He told a friend that if he could still see/think he would blink after the blade fell.

Apparently he blinked furiously for about half a minute with a look of abject terror on his face...

Yum...

I don't know if that's a true story and yes, it was quite vague.

What, you think I can sit around all day and type stuff?

2003-07-19 07:14:42 PM
They publicly behead people for armed robbery, drug trafficking and "apostasy" yet Saddam is the evil one who we need to remove from power while we are friends with Saudis... let's not mention that 17 of the 19 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. How many were Iraqi? Zero.

2003-07-19 07:15:14 PM
Texas is down by 7!!!!

(18 this year so far - see the breakdown at www.tdcj.state.tx.us/stat/annual.htm )

Rozinante: you beat me to it, therefore I apostasy this link. :-)

/movin' along.

I'm just picturing the ministry of truth using these very figures as reason to invade Saudi Arabia when the time comes.

Finally, someone had the balls to post one with the cool tag. About farkin time.

Executions generally take place in public in the conservative kingdom which applies a strict form of sharia, or Islamic law, imposing the death penalty for murder, rape, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking.

Islam, where no one leaves alive.
Sounds like the mafia :p

I have to add that while perusing the site above about texas executions, it is interesting to note the increase during the reign of a certain warlord. Can he find a way to blame this number on Clinton? The CIA? Tony Blair? Saddam?

2003-07-19 07:19:38 PM
Oh, goody. Us, Saudi Arabia and China. Now wonder we got booted from the UN Human Rights Council.

2003-07-19 07:19:55 PM
uh.... maybe they behead people who are drug traffickers because Heroin and Cocaine are illegal and very addictive?

It's prolly already been said, but I'm too lazy to look.

I think it's actually ben recorded at 17 seconds. Some scientist (French, I think, around the 17-1800's) volunteered to be beheaded in the interests of science, he said that he would blink once every second after he was beheaded.

Of course, it's open to debate whether he was actually conciously blinking, or if the brain was just continuing to send signals to the muscles as it was dying.

The Texas Plan to Catch Up...(aka the next 8 to go)

I love how the ruling elite in Saudi Arabia impose harsh Islamic law and punishment on their people yet have no problem taking part in "decadent" lifestyles themselves. Anybody ever see a bunch of rich Saudis partying it up in Europe or anywhere else? These rich bastards are pigs, and it's a disgrace the US considers them an ally.

2003-07-19 07:22:41 PM
Argh_Dammit

I would also have to add, that after a certain warlord was removed from power, the number of executions in Iraq have decreased. The 'warlord' who you think is responsible for 127 executions in Texas saved countless thousands from executions under Saddam Hussein. But, I didn't expect a troll like you to make a logical argument. Texas bad! Bush Hitler! ARRGGG, where's my Red Book?!?

ok u stupid people r mad WHY??????

I bet if they did that here(the almighty US) half of u(the stupid half) wouldn't be here to flame my bait.

2003-07-19 07:24:44 PM
DEFINATELY COOL!

Eye for an eye, the only way to go! It is much better than having law abiding citizens pay through the nose to house murders in relative comfort ensuring they live out their long ass lives.

They are too easy on criminals in Saudi Arabia. If it was up to me, I'd shoot criminals in the stomach and leave them to bleed to death :)

2003-07-19 07:29:54 PM
C'MON TEXAS!

2003-07-19 07:31:15 PM
Magic, the extra question marks make up for the missing letters.

2003-07-19 07:31:21 PM
Saudi Arabia cheats. Rape, armed robbery, and drug trafficking are also capitol crimes. If Texas was that way then they would be way ahead.

2003-07-19 07:32:04 PM
Saudi Arabia will execute anyone they feel like. one of my friends was stationed over there and said that he saw a public execution of someone for witchcraft. That's all, no evidence, no trial, no nothing, someone just shouted that he magicked them and his head rolls on the ground. Oh, and apparently you can bribe the swordsman so he finishes beheading you in one whack, otherwise he'll get lazy and it will take a couple.

2003-07-19 07:32:42 PM
RabidMule, it is actually more expensive (in the USA) to execute a criminal through the judicial process than to incarcerate him/her for life. I doubt this is the case in Saudi Arabia, however (good for them).

The bad thing about a life sentence is that the criminal then has many many opportunities to harrass, attack, and even kill other inmates and correctional staff. Execution always puts an end to their criminal activities.

what difference does it make? Why because some anal-rententive loser teacher pounded AP English 103Creative Writing into U in grade school when U were little and easy to manipulate that makes U right? U underst00d the meaning.

So....they should have just put this guy in a jail, and spent $25K a year feeding him, making sure he gets his mail, and he has access to educational literature, while the family of the man he killed gets??????

Quite your pathetic Liberal whining. People who kill people, NEED to be killed. They have blatantly chosen to show so little regard for another persons right to life, that they took it. I don't care if he did it while mad, or while humping a goat.

I'll bet public beheadings do a lot for the crime rate than does being paroled, coddled, and released multiple times as happens in the U.S.

2003-07-19 07:40:26 PM
Texas: 22 million people, 127 executions in three years makes 42 a year. That is 0.0001924242 per cent of the population killed by the state.

China: 1.3 billion people. 1000 executions a year. That is 0.00007692308 per cent of the population killed by the government.

So when you see it in relation to the population, Texas kills 2.5 times as many as China. If Texas had a population of 1.3 billion people that would mean that 2,500 people would be executed every year.

Saudi Arabia by the way is 17 million people and with 48 executions last year they execute more people than Texas. Had Saudi Arabia had a population of 1.3 billion people, 3600 people would be executed.

TEXAS
SAUDI ARABIA -9 59

Heh, nice, Fark It. Here's a helpful beheading link by the way (no comments on the phrasing, please, I expect that sounds bad, but I'm too lazy to rewrite it.)

2003-07-19 07:48:34 PM
lukket: So, as a percentage of total population, and considering the "laws of the land" for each locality, Saudi Arabia has the largest amount of serious criminals requiring the ultimate punishment, followed by Texas, followed by China.

Nice math sk1llz, but *yawn*.

2003-07-19 07:53:18 PM
Natedogtx or they are just a little less careful in choosing what is a serious criminal

2003-07-19 07:55:01 PM
Lukket, didn't he stab someone to death?!?
