That is awesome. Brings back a lot of memories.

There's also a SEGA MS emulator here

best.link.ever!!!

I'm sad that they don't have the Back to the Future game. I think that I'm the only one in the world who played that. I was awesome until I got past the 3rd level.

The 'normal' emulators that you download to your computer have a cool Netplay option so that you can play against your friends. It's especially good for dorm rooms when you don't have much space for more than a couple consoles, if that. Plus since most dorms have ethernet, you can play against others in your hall without lag.

Hell yes. Excitebike.

Didn't work in Opera, ran too fast in IE. Tried fiddling around with + and - but it didn't help. :(

This makes the main page? Fark advocates piracy now?

I played 4 weeks of Tecmo Super Bowl. Brings back memories.

2003-07-19 11:47:20 PM
Dammit! Now I'm not going to be able to get anything done!

2003-07-20 12:35:53 AM
i dont think i can play 48 games at once

2003-07-20 12:36:46 AM
Good times.

2003-07-20 12:37:06 AM
The games actually don't work very well in my browser. If anyone else also has this problem, I suggest they download nesticle (an NES emulator), and download some ROMs. It works as good as the real thing, and you can get just about every game ever made on it.

Grooooaaannn... Why does my computer have to be a weak little piece of shiat? I wanna play this stuff now!

Huh ? Jeebus, I got a 1 Ghz Intel processor with 512MB ram sitting on a motherboard in a box stored away. Are you running a 386 ? C'mon man, scavenge some parts, so you can party like it's 1999 !

Tried playing Contra, used the ALT key for jump, it also takes scope away from the game and into the file menu.

They should have re-thought the keys, but otherwise awesome.

back to the future was impossible past the dance I recall...or something like that, I somehow had the misfortune to play all the horribly bad NES games (like a boy and his blob) ...and the strange part was, I kinda enjoyed them....

2003-07-20 12:50:12 AM
Downloaded this cool emulator called RockNESX with over 800 games.

*drools*

Sleepless nights....

2003-07-20 12:51:55 AM
Neat, but it runs lie @ss on my work machine, actually it seems to have forced me to reboot I have strange sounds playing non stop since I closed it.

2003-07-20 12:53:45 AM
ahhh good times even the graphics remind me of my old nes.

2003-07-20 12:53:59 AM
Solzhenisin it's not really piracy, considering they no longer manufacture or sell these games. I think Nintendo has been kind of biatchy towards the ROM/Emulator community, but I think that's a really stupid position.

Anything that keeps people interested in their franchises is a good thing.

Personally, I've been trying to beat Wizards&Warriors again...I used to be able to do it pretty easily, but now I'm not sure how I accomplished that with no save.

2003-07-20 12:54:11 AM
btw whoever is going to make a piracy rant of this needs to cool down, count to 3 and realize: These games are almost 20 years old now, on a system that is not sold, nor Nintendo makes any money off anymore, the games sell for 2-5$ or aren't found at all. They are less than abandonware (which I can't honestly consider piracy either) so there really is no issue here, if Nintendo or the game producers make him remove the ROMs, fine...otherwise this is stupid to argue over...

2003-07-20 12:55:03 AM
Holy crap, they have Tiger-Heli!

*dance*

2003-07-20 12:55:12 AM
Back before i accidentally smashed my NES (reallt, it was accidental, i was shifting some boxes and one slipped onto the NES)... I used to play a boy and he blob all the time.

That game was so farking stupid...

"I know, i will go through a city with my blob, and just for the hell of it, i will give it jelly beans to transform it"
HELL NO! i'd farking beat the blob into other forms when i wanted it to- and if it didn't like it, i'd beat it again.

2003-07-20 12:58:01 AM
dav925 that's the worst official NES game ever! I thought about mentioning it, since I've been scarred permenantly.

I rented it once, wandered around (what the fark was the place where you turned the blob into a rocket ship and had the bouncing balls?) returned it and vowed to forget it ever existed.

2003-07-20 12:58:53 AM
I recently went on a serious hunt for a game called Tombs and Treasure, which I rented over 10 years ago. Took a shiatload of notes about the game, drew maps, etc.

I was too cheap to buy it so I just kind of forgot about it. Until recently. When I checked local game shops, they'd never even heard of it.

Then I got the emulator which has the game and goddamnit, I still can't finish it!

2003-07-20 12:59:38 AM
In the past rom sites have been shut down by companies even though the games weren't making any money. I get the feeling that this site is at risk as well.

2003-07-20 12:59:51 AM
why on earth did i ever like tiger heli?

2003-07-20 01:00:53 AM
no Punch Out? :(

is there an emulator out there for Duck Hunt? Maybe using the mouse as light gun. I really like that game in a very perverse way. I guess it's only fun when you get get about 4 inches away from the screen.
why couldn't you shoot that stupid dog though?
He was asking for it.

2003-07-20 01:00:54 AM
unfazeded it's still kinda fun...but the controls make it really awkward. That's one of the nice things about emulators, you can assign keys (even to a gamepad...now that's nice).

2003-07-20 01:03:13 AM
I guess my computer's too slow. It's really bogged down for me.

2003-07-20 01:04:48 AM
BUBBLE BOBBLE RULES!

my speakers are farked because of it....only on AIM tho?

Neat, but it runs lie ss on my work machine, actually it seems to have forced me to reboot I have strange sounds playing non stop since I closed it.

Same thing with mine Faustus. Had to uninstall and reinstall audio codecs. Mine sounded like the hard drive was trying to eat a bowl of cereal. Snap crackle pop

Can I just say that these are the kinds of links we should see on Fark everyday? Not stupid stories about some truck flipping over on a highway and spilling something (GASP!) or links from TSG to useless pictures of criminals.

Not trying to start an argument, I'm just saying..

I'll stick with my nes emulator on my gba. I have 200 games. Nya-nya.

Ahh, so that's why my speakers were popping like crazy. Glad I know that now :-p

how do dorms not fit consoles? my cell sized room contained xbox, ps2, gamecube, and n64 all connected to a handy switch. it kicked ass :)

I FEEL ASLEEP!!!

brink, 20 years old? "almost" if you round up a bit. ...and that's not enough anyway for copyright issues. But then again, I don't think this is piracy or copyright infringment anyway. If the guy owns the games, pulled the roms himself and lets you play them then I don't see the issue. Solzhenisin needs to chill out a little but.

What kind of licensing did these games have anyway? Anything say that you can't play them on a remote machine?

2003-07-20 01:10:01 AM
only 48 games? i downloaded a rar file a few days ago that had 8820 roms in it =D

2003-07-20 01:10:15 AM
is there an emulator out there for Duck Hunt?

I just pulled out one of my NES systems for that. Here's my wife taking aim at that damn dog!

ironoctopus: there is a sweet version of duck hunt here. requires flash. obviously.

SharkUW, I'm not saying it's impossible, but depending on your room setup it can get cluttered quickly. Resorting to emulators means you don't need to use precious space storing all those clunky NES cartridges and you can use the same controller for whatever else you have.

Yo,

Page loaded - I selected a game - nothing happened.

Anyone give me any pointers?

(Yes, I am using a Mac, let me know if that might be the problem.)

Thanks.

2003-07-20 01:17:28 AM
Gotta hit start next to the game for it to work, then wait for it to load.

Jaguar ? I had to use IE, my Mozilla did not have the plugin. But I'm using Windows. Please do not tell Jobs, he might put on a black turtleneck and pay mea visit.

Yeah. Jaguar. Safari didn't work. I am going to try IE.

Sidi: "Start" button.
